Dr. al-Rifaei in Russia Belies al-Jazeera Claim on His Alleged Imprisonment in Syria Jul 27, 2011 DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Dr, Golan al-Rifaei, whom al-Jazeera TV claimed to be imprisoned in the Syrian jails and called on the humanitarian organizations to intervene to get him released, belied the false news on Tuesday, confirming he has been in Russia since 2006 till date. In an interview with the Syrian TV, Dr. al-Rifaei said the false news was first broadcast on al-Jazeera TV and Cham network on the internet, but he only came to know about it through a friend of his who called him from the UAE and told him about his alleged imprisonment on the Facebook, presented by al-Jazeera.

Dr. al-Rifaei presented to the Syrian TV the latest entry visa stamp in his passport to Russia dated in 2006, confirming he has been living in Russia and has not visited Syria since that time. Dr. al-Rifaei considered what al-Jazeera TV is doing as a false media propaganda and war on Syria that will end in failure, calling upon it to commit to the journalism professionalism and ethics. H.
