Sayyed Ali Abbas Al-Moussawi

Ali was born on the 1st of February, 1980 in the Nabi Sheeth village in the Bekaa.

When Ali was in his first year, his father was killed in an explosion, and so he was raised by his mother who was a close friend to late Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi’s wife “Um Yasser”.

Ali’s mother used to visit Um Yasser frequently and help her in humanitarian activities, and so, Sayyed Abbas used to take Ali with him to most of his meetings or visits, treating him like his own child.

Witnessing his mother’s exhaustion and the family’s financial difficulties, Ali felt responsible for supporting his family, and so he started working at the age of 12.

Ali used to tell his mother: “I will work hard to provide you comfort, and my ultimate desire is to see you relaxed.”

He was the youngest among his brothers, but played the role of the old, mature, and responsible family member.

He worked in construction, sanitary ware repair, and electricity maintenance, and was strongly committed to implementing the Islamic rituals and undergoing military and educational courses.
Martyr Ali was patient, calm, passionate, and faithful, and when he got married in 2004, he agreed with his wife to follow Imam Hussein’s path because “there is no path more great, virtuous, and glorious than this path that would lead to bliss, to the heavens of eternity, and to God.”

His spirituality was always apparent in his acts and speeches, and his gratefulness was reflected in his admiration to his mother and continuous visits to his father’s grave.

As for his relation with his colleagues, Ali was known for his lenient character with fervor to assist them and ease their duties.

In the Battlefield:

On the 19th of July 2006, the missile emplacement that Ali was in control of was attacked by an Israeli warplane in the southern town of Shamaa.
He was instantly martyred, leaving behind a baby daughter that was destined to grow up an orphan, just like her father.

His mother told the story of the martyr bidding her farewell before leaving to the battlefield. That day, she saw a dream that martyr Sayyed Abbas Moussawi and Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had visited her and offered her a copy of the holy Quran. She also said that martyr Sayyed Abbas whispered to her that this copy of the Quran was so precious that he wouldn’t give it to his father. Two days later, she received the most precious gift that will whiten her face on the Day of Judgment, the martyrdom of her son, Ali.
