Hamadeh Seeks France Protection if Syrian Arrest Warrants Issued: Report

28/09/2010 The Syrian arrest warrants in the lawsuit submitted by former Director General of Lebanese Internal Security Jamil Sayyed against some Lebanese figures in absentia will be issued soon, The Kuwaiti daily Al-Anbaa reported on Tuesday.

The daily considered that this development is the reason why the member of the Democratic Gathering MP Marwan Hamadeh asked the French government in a written request on September 9 for “protection”.
“This is because Hamadeh, who holds the French citizenship, cannot seek political asylum,” the daily said explaining that “requesting political protection means that France is committed to protect and not to extradite him to any other State.”
