GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, a member of Hamas's political bureau, said that the general mood of the Palestinian people is all for the Palestinian resistance and against the peace talks with the Israeli occupation state.

In a TV show on the tenth anniversary of the second intifada, Dr. Zahhar told Al-Jazeera satellite channel that the doubts about the low goals of the peace talks with Israel got bigger and the Palestinian people's faith in the option of resistance increased.

He added that whoever thinks that the negotiations with Israel would end settlement expansion and all other problems is wrong because it would never give up its settlement and Judaization activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In the same context, left-wing Israeli politician and former minister Yossi Beilin expressed his belief that the US administration would pressure the Arab League into supporting the survival of the direct talks between the Palestinian Authority and Israel regardless of the resumed settlement activities in the West Bank.

Beilin told the Hebrew radio on Monday that the American pressures would be placed mostly on the Arab League after [de facto president] Mahmoud Abbas said he would not make a decision on the resumption of talks with Israel and would let the Arab League do so.

He added that the Arab League could give the green light for the talks with Israel because this time they would take place between specialized cadres and would have a specific time frame.

For their part, Hamas lawmakers in Ramallah city described Israel's escalation of its settlement activities as a bullet fired at the frivolous peace process.

The lawmakers added that Israel did not stop its settlement expansion during the previous period, but now it became clear to everyone that Israel is persistent in this.

They stressed that Israel only wanted from the peace talks to obtain international cover for its crimes against the Palestinian citizens in the occupied Palestinian territories in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
