RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israeli prison service (IPS) refused to allow a medical team to check on seriously ill and isolated Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails, the Palestinian prisoner's association said on Monday.

It added in a press release that the IPS had previously approved the visit to a number of critical conditions but it retracted its position and blocked entry of the team grouping doctors of various specialties.

It pointed out that 15 prisoners were supposed to be checked including Hamas leader Abbas Assayed who has been on hunger strike for three weeks, PFLP leader Ahmed Saadat, Sheikh Jamal Abul Haija, and others.
