Israel approves lawyer visit ban on Palestinian prisoners

[ 31/03/2011 - 02:34 PM ]

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israeli ministerial committee has approved a law that empowers the courts to ban lawyer visits to Palestinian prisoners for one year after arrest, the Palestinian Prisoner Society warned.

Israel is trying to express its racist and inhumane policies in the form of law provisions, the PPS said.

Racist laws such as this indicate the world community's disregard as it has not taken a stand at length towards Israeli violations, the PPS added.

Separately, Palestinian activists have launched a new Facebook page showing solidarity with Abbas al-Sayyid, who has gone on his 23rd day of hunger strike amid demands for his removal from solitary confinement.

The initiative came after a letter leaked by Sayyid, who was transferred to the prison clinic after the strike took its toll on his health, where Sayyid urges for more media coverage of his ordeal.
