Chuck Hagel worries Israel, India and NATO

On Wednesday, former Sen. Chuck Hagel was sworn in as Obama’s third secretaryof defense since Obama occupied the White House in 2009. After taking the oath of office, Hagel told his new staff at the Pentagon: “I’ll never ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t do.”

The vicious smear campaign against Hagel ran for weeks by the Israel Lobby has proved beyond any doubt that Israel is not happy with Chuck Hagel being the head of the Pentagon. Netanyahu fears that Hagel will advise Obama not to take military action against Iran.
In addition to Israel – India and NATO, also, are not happy with Hagel’s appointment as US secretary of defense for different reasons, of course.

In 2011, Chuck Hagel, speaking at the Oklahoma’s Cameron University, claimed that India was creating problems for its neighboring Pakistan by exploiting situation in Afghanistan.

“India for some time has always used Afghanistan as a second front, and India has over the years financed problems for Pakistan on that side of the border. And you can carry that into many dimensions, the point being that the tense, fragmented relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been there for many, many years,” said Hagel, as quoted by Adam Kredo at the Jewish Washington Free Beacon on February 25, 2013. Watch video below.

The comments caused an uproar in New Delhi where government officials and pro-Israel Hindutva leaders panned Hagel’s comments. On Thursday, George Little, the Pentagon top spokesperson assured Indian embassy in Washington that Hagel as secretary of defense will work to strengthen ties to India.

“Secretary Hagel is strongly committed to the US strategic partnership with India and to fostering an even closer defense relationship with India that builds upon the work of Secretary Leon Panetta, Deputy Secretary Ashton Carter, and their Indian counterparts,” said Little.

However, RAND scholar Christine Fair agrees with Hagel’s comments on India. On April 07, 2009 – the Daily Times in its editorial quoted her saying: “Indian officials have told me privately that they are pumping money into Balochistan. Kabul has encouraged India to engage in provocative activities such as using the Border Roads Organisation to build sensitive parts of the Ring Road and use the Indo-Tibetan police force for security. It is also building schools on a sensitive part of the border in Kunar — across from Bajaur. Kabul’s motivations for encouraging these activities are as obvious as India’s interest in engaging in them.”

Hagel also criticized NATO during his speech, questioning whether the international treaty organization can continue to exist.

“We are seeing a shift everywhere, we’re seeing a shift in NATO – seven, eight, nine members of NATO out of 28 were the only members of NATO that participated in the Libya exercise. Some of the most significant members, Germany being one of them, said NATO has no business in Libya, absolutely none,”said Hagel. Watch video below.

Weekly Rogues Gallery

Welcome to the Rogues Gallery, our weekly to semi-weekly foray into the totalitarian world of Jewish crime, rancor, and depravity. Here we examine the darker instincts of Talmudic/Judaic ipseity, whether it be in the form of Wall Street pilferage and rapacity, the subversion of democratic government by Jewish lobbies, or the ongoing problem of Jewish pedophilia and sexual perversion.

If it seems to you, gazing at today’s world, that what has come to be referred to as “Jewish power” has surpassed even that that of sovereign countries, there’s a good reason for this—it has. Certainly the global banking system was key in bringing this about, and to be sure Jews are prominent players in the latter. But it has to be stated, in all honesty, that the cooperation and confederacy of slippery, two-faced Gentiles, commonly known as Shabbes goyim, has certainly helped to facilitate the present horrid state of affairs.

And today we are proud and privileged to add to our Rogues Gallery the president and prime minister of Croatia. Yes, folks, occasionally we do throw some worthy Gentiles into our hallowed gallery, and in our humble opinion Croatian President Ivo Josipović…

as well as the country’s Prime Minister, Zoran Milanović…

are more than deserving of the honor. I shall now try and explain why. It’s a long story, but please bear with me.

Take a good close look at Josipović, the guy in the top photo. The poor man looks like he’s near tears, doesn’t he? That photo was made in February of 2012 on the occasion of a state visit Josopović made to Israel. While in the land stolen from the Palestinians, the Croatian president gave a speech before Israel’s Knesset in which, very somber-faced, he issued a thoroughly groveling apology for his country’s alleged guilt in crimes committed during the Nazi era. Here in part is what he said:

We need to look into our hearts, and to come to terms with the darkest stain in our history. Here I am, standing before the parliament of the Jewish state, and more importantly, in front of people born in Croatia, and with no ambiguity, I apologize and I ask for forgiveness from all the Holocaust survivors and all the victims.

I mentioned Josopović’s state visit in an article I wrote in August of last year entitled Swindler’s List: A Brief Look at the Holocaust Reparations Racket. In that article I discussed the concerted efforts of Jewish organizations, such as the Claims Conference and the World Jewish Congress, to extort greater and greater sums of holocaust “reparations” not only from Germany (for the past 60-plus years), but more recently from other European countries as well, and I noted that at least some of the sharks have Croatia in their cross-hairs now as well.

In his address to the Knesset, Josopović went on to say he felt convinced that amendments to his country’s “compensation law” would soon be passed providing for payments to “Holocaust survivors, private individuals, their inheritors or local communities,” but apparently this wasn’t enough to placate Stuart Eizenstat, a former undersecretary of state in the Clinton administration who has played a leading role in reparations negotiations. Eizenstat said he wanted to see EU officials “leverage” Croatia’s desire to join the European Union to get even greater concessions from the tiny country. “Now is the time for the European Union to exact the maximum amount of leverage,” he said, adding that “once they’re in, the leverage is lost.” So apparently it wasn’t enough for Eizenstat that Josopović had made pilgrimage to Israel or that he had issued a pleading entreaty for forgiveness along with a promise to change his country’s law. No. Apparently Eizenstat desired even more than that.

A mortar shell from the former Yugoslavia in seen in the hand of a militant in Syria. (File photo) Josopović gave his speech to the Knesset on February 15, 2012. Interestingly, we come to find out that just eight days later, on February 23, Zoran Minanović, the Croatian Prime Minister, issued a call for Croatian companies to withdraw from Syria, citing violence in the country as justification. The Croatian state oil company was to cease operations there as well, a shut down that would reportedly result in the loss of “hundreds of millions of euros,” but according to a Croatian government official, the exit from Syria was in keeping with the EU’s embargo and would remain in effect supposedly until “democratic order” is implemented in Syria.
Now let’s fast forward one year, to February 25, 2013, when a report appears in the New York Times detailing a rather large influx of weapons from Croatia into Syria and into the hands of NATO-backed terrorists. It seems that videos posted to YouTube have been the means by which observers, including apparently the Times reporter, have noted the Croatian arms shipments:

YouTube has also been instrumental in allowing analysts to follow certain arming trends, including the arrival of shoulder-fired heat-seeking missiles to rebel possession last year and the influx in 2013 of weapons previously unseen in the conflict. This in turn provides an opportunity for traditional investigation. In short, during the past several weeks scores of videos have been uploaded to YouTube that provide evidence of a seemingly distinct flow of new weapons to the country, which The New York Times has now identified as a Saudi-financed flow of arms from Croatia.

I don’t know how the writer, simply from looking at the videos, can be so sure the armaments are “Saudi-financed,” but of course it only takes someone with a knowledge of weaponry to identify the types of arms, and if the Times reporter doesn’t have such knowledge himself, he could easily ask some in the military who does. In any rate, the weapons showing up in the videos have been positively identified. For instance…

The M79 Osa is an antitank weapon originating from the former Yugoslavia. Rather unusually the rockets come in separate pods that are attached to the rear of the rocket launcher. Dozens were present in the first video, and two in the second. Markings visible on rocket pods in both videos indicate that they were manufactured between 1990 and 1991.

We then have the M60 recoil-less gun, seen on the far left of the picture, below left, alongside dozens of M79 Osa rocket pods. Again, the M60 is a weapon originating in the former Yugoslavia and has continued to be used in Serbia, Croatia and Macedonia since Yugoslavia’s breakup.

These and other weapons have shown up in more than 60 videos uploaded to YouTube in January alone, according to the Times report, while another report, here, notes that Croatia is now in essence “breaking the arms embargo against Syria.” How much of all this is being done at the behest of Israel and world Jewry we can only speculate, and of course that’s a subject the mainstream media will never address or broach, but if we go here we can find a spreadsheet cataloguing a large number of videos now on YouTube that show “foreign weapons in Syria” (a total of 131 listings as of this writing), and here is one of the actual videos—showing a group of witless Western-backed hooligans firing a Croatian M60 and screaming the prescribed “Allahu akbar” that invariably accompanies such occasions.

Now let’s fast-forward three more days, to February 28, 2013. We have an announcement from Josopović and Milanović that Croatia will be withdrawing its 100 or so “peacekeeping” troops from the Syria-Israel border. The reasoning behind this decision? The two leaders fear their soldiers, in the wake of the published report in the New York Times, could become the targets of Syrian government forces. And oh yes, they also deny having armed the NATO terror gangs, but of course by now “everyone has read those reports” and so of course “our soldiers are no longer safe.” Incidentally, they do admit to having sold, oh, perhaps a few armaments to Saudi Arabia (which of course has been supplying the Syrian opposition, as most of the world knows), but they insist that never, ever would they even think of violating the international arms embargo against Syria, heaven forbid.

Croatian military analyst Igor Tabak told the Associated Press that Croatia — slated to enter the European Union this summer — would not risk breaching an international arms embargo by directly arming the rebels.

But he did not rule out the possibility that the rebels got the Croatian weapons through a third country, possibly Saudi Arabia, which purchased the arms from the Balkan state.
"We do have a surplus amount of weapons," Tabak said. "It would be reasonable to sell something considering Croatia's economic crisis."

Fueling the arms deal reports were the sightings of Jordanian-registered cargo planes flying in and out of Zagreb's international airport earlier this year.

Western countries have mostly refused to arm the rebels, but the United States said Thursday it would start providing noncombat aid to the Free Syrian Army.

So now, discretion being the better part of valor, Croatia has decided to withdraw its troops from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Too bad they can’t also “withdraw” the stockpiles of weapons they sold to the Saudis, the Free Syrian Army, or whomever they sold them to, but I guess it’s a bit late for that.

On Wednesday, February 27, I put up a post entitled Syrian Women Train to Defend Their Country…As US Moves to Arm Their Enemies. If you haven’t seen it, go check it out. The post included a quote from Secretary of State John Kerry, who said, “We are determined that the Syrian opposition is not going to be dangling in the wind wondering where the support is or if it’s coming, and we are determined to change the calculation on the ground for President Assad.” The same post also discussed Syria’s new civilian National Defense Forces, which includes large numbers of women, who have taken up arms to help defend their nation from the hooligans and foreign-backed invaders.

I also included three videos showing scores of these women marching, drilling, etc. in preparation for the day when they meet the enemy head on. How many of these patriotic Syrian women will be shot down by the weapons supplied by Croatia?

How many of them will still be alive a year from now?

Ivo Josopović and Zoran Milanović, welcome to the Rogues Gallery! Step right in, gents! Make yourselves at home!

The Rabbi with the Wrestling Fetish

In previous Rogues Galleries I have reported on the ongoing controversy at Yeshiva University High School for Boys in New York (see here and here ) regarding alleged sexual misconduct by rabbis who have been employed there as teachers. The problem dates back to at least the late 70s/early 80s, and causing perhaps the greatest uproar in the community at present are recent disclosures of how school administrators dealt with the issue of sexual abuse of students when the concerns were brought to their attention. Rather than turn the alleged perpetrators over to the police, school authorities, including the school president at the time, adopted a policy of allowing them to simply leave quietly and take other jobs elsewhere. This at any rate seems to be what happened in the case of Rabbi George Finkelstein, who worked at the school from roughly 1968 until 1995, when, while serving as principle, he left following accusations of inappropriate contact with students.
Yeshiva University High School for Boys where Rabbi George Finkelstein (left insert)
and Rabbi Macy Gordon (right insert) are alleged to have had inappropriate contact
with students. The images are taken from an old yearbook.

Finkelstein apparently has, or at one time had, a “wrestling fetish,” if one might call it that. According to accounts that have been published in the Jewish Daily Forward, he seems to have invited students to wrestle with him and then, once so engaged, proceeded to press his erect penis against their bodies while pinning them to the mat or floor. One of our readers emailed me that such a fetish perhaps has less to do with sex than power, which may be a valid observation; I don’t know. But at any rate, Rabbi Norman Lamm, then YU president and who today, at age 85, continues to serve as chancellor, became aware at some point that there was indeed a problem with Finkelstein. Recalling the matter in an interview with The Forward, Lamm said, “My question was not whether to report to police but to ask the person to leave the job.” This Lamm did not only with Finkelstein but apparently in the case of another teacher at the school, Rabbi Macy Gordon, who also was accused of sexual misconduct with students. The Forward additionally quotes Lamm as saying, “If it was an open-and-shut case, I just let [the staff member] go quietly. It was not our intention or position to destroy a person without further inquiry.”
And so Finkelstein left YU, in 1995, moved to Florida, and took a job at another school—the Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School, in North Miami Beach, where he became dean. And consider this: not only did Lamm not notify police, he also failed to inform the Florida school about why Finkelstein had been obliged to resign, or as he expressed it, “The responsibility of a school in hiring someone is to check with the previous job. No one checked with me about George.”

Finkelstein stayed with the Hillel school until 2001, at which point he made tracks for Israel, where he took a position as director general of the Jerusalem Great Synagogue. And it was here he remained until resigning abruptly in December of 2012 after disclosures of his past alleged misconduct became public.

In its most recent article on Finkelstein, published February 28, 2013, The Forward reports that “the wrestling did not stop after his (Finkelstein’s) departure from Y.U.”, but rather that it continued at his next two jobs, i.e. at the school in Florida, and later on at the synagogue in Jerusalem.

One official with the Hillel school is quoted on record as saying, “We had no difficulties with Rabbi Finkelstein whatsoever,” but apparently others gave different accounts.

A former Hillel staff member, who requested anonymity, said: “The kids went to convention or camp and they met kids from Y.U. and they asked, ‘Did Finkelstein touch you already?’”

Yudewitz and Maya said Finkelstein often invited boys to stay over at his house during Shabbat. Such behavior was typical for a Jewish educator trying to persuade students to become more observant.

It was during one such sleepover that one former Hillel student said Finkelstein asked him to wrestle.

Even before then, the former student recalled, Finkelstein had taken a particular interest in him. Finkelstein often told the boy that he loved him and, when he called him into his school office, he hugged him “a little bit closer than a normal person might hug.”

“He would lock his feet together and come in close [with his] legs touching each other and he was flat against me,” the former student said. “I never took it as he felt anything more than affection in a father-son type way,” he added.

The former student said he stayed at Finkelstein’s house many times. Then, one time when the two were alone, Finkelstein asked him to wrestle.

“His demeanor changed and he puts on this face like you would do with a kid if [you were] pretending to be angry,” the former student said. “[He] starts making a fist and says, ‘We’re going to come to blows.’”

“The whole thing ended with my getting pinned to the ground and he’s on top of me and I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know what the hell is going on,’” the former student said. “And he starts tickling me…and he got off [me] and that was the end of it.”

The man said that he felt uncomfortable enough that the next time Finkelstein asked to wrestle he refused. But he said that he remained friendly with Finkelstein.

A few years ago, he discovered a blog where former Y.U. High School students wrote of what they perceived to be the sexual undertones beneath Finkelstein’s wrestling. “It made me furious,” the man said. “I realized if he’s doing this to all these guys he’s either really naive or some kind of predator.”

Despite the official denial from the Hillel official, school authorities apparently at some point did become aware of Finkelstein’s proclivities. A former YU student reportedly contacted them and “warned the Florida school that Finkelstein liked to wrestle with boys.” This, as it turns out was in 2001—the same year Finkelstein took off for Israel.

As The Forward notes, “allegations of Finkelstein’s inappropriate behavior preceded him when he applied for the job of director general of Jerusalem’s Great Synagogue, in 2001,” but as before, this didn’t stop him from gaining employment or from remaining on the job for a number of years. And apparently the behavior even continued. As The Forward reports, “The most recent wrestling incidents documented by the Forward were in 2009.”

Finkelstein’s resignation (which, as I noted above, came in December last year) was tendered only after The Forward had published its first article detailing the allegations against him, but the allegations of his sexual misconduct had “trailed him for at least 30 years, according to dozens of interviews with former students, colleagues and peers in the United States.”

Thirty years. All in all a rather amazing story—but perhaps the most astounding episode of all took place in 1995 at the time of Finkelstein’s resignation from YU. Here again, as I said above, law enforcement officials were not notified, even though Lamm, and probably other officials as well, were well aware of his conduct around students. But hey, not only did the school not have him arrested, they actually gave him a grand send-off, with a dinner in his honor!

Y.U.’s knowledge of Finkelstein’s problematic behavior did not stop the school from honoring him upon his departure. At Y.U.’s annual tribute dinner, held in March 1995 at the New York Hilton hotel in Manhattan, Lamm presented Finkelstein and his wife, Fredda, with the Heritage Award “for 25 years of dedicated service.”
Asked why Y.U. honored Finkelstein despite forcing him out because of the wrestling, a Y.U. spokesman said: “As you are aware, everything is being independently investigated by outside counsel who will make their report when the investigation is fully finished.” The spokesman did not respond to a request for details about how the investigation is proceeding and when it might be complete.

Despite all that has come out, apparently there are those who still think highly of Finkelstein, or at least who don’t update their websites with a great deal of regularity. At the site FloridaJewish.com, we find featured an article by the rabbi entitled, amusingly, Shofetim, “Judges.” Apparently the piece was written when Finkelstein was still a resident of Florida—(the words, “Each week we feature a different outstanding Florida Rabbi” appear at the top of the page)—and I’m assuming it is the same Rabbi George Finkelstein, since accompanying the article is a photo of the author that looks very similar to the one above only older.

“The Torah portion of Shofetim begins with a set of guidelines to insure that we will have a judicial system that is free from corruption and dishonesty,” Finkelstein starts off with a sort of utopian erudition. The piece also includes a couple of quotes from the Talmud before closing with the following paragraph:

In contemporary times, with political alliances, media hype, lobbyists, pressure groups, etc. it becomes more difficult to think objectively and to have opinions that aren't biased or preconceived. This is not only the requirement for Judges, but rather for each of us. For, in fact, we are each called upon to "judge" people, ideas and situations hundreds of times each day. May the standards of the Torah become our guides and our goals for living a moral, ethical and truly honest life.

Psychiatrist charged in Wisconsin

I don’t know if this guy’s Jewish or not, but with a name like “David Israelstam” one might perhaps be forgiven for speculating he might be. At any rate, we have here an item posted March 1 in the Wisconsin State Journal:

Madison psychiatrist with history of inappropriate behavior charged with possessing child pornography

By Sandy Cullen

A Madison psychiatrist who has been reprimanded twice in the past for inappropriate conduct with patients was charged Thursday with two counts of possession of child pornography.

Dr. David M. Israelstam, 73, was released on a signature bond after an initial court appearance Thursday morning.

Israelstam was ordered to have no contact with a computer technician and former patient who discovered pornography on his computer, nor with anyone under 18, and to not use any device capable of accessing the Internet. He is allowed contact with his two grandchildren if two adults are present.

And that’s going to wrap up today’s Weekly Rogues Gallery. I’ll close with a quote from one of my favorite contemporary poets, Nahida the Exiled Palestinian:

I have a dream
When they stop bombing

No more shelling

To rush outside

And up a tall tree

To tie a string

Make a swing

Fly up so high

And touch the blue sky

Leave my tears up there

To come down as rain…

BDS, For Whose Sake ?

By Daniel Mabsout,

25qpt964[1]

Our concerns with organizations like BDS is not mainly because of what they say or what they do or the kind of affiliations they have . Our concern is that BDS and EI and other organizations- as well- are speaking in the name of the cause and acting on behalf of Palestinians to the point of preventing others from having a say in the matter. In other words, BDS wants to solve the Palestinian problem in its own way and has embraced -for this reason- anti Apartheid policies – under the attractive label of Boycott , Divest and Sanction, trying to suggest that these policies- that were presumably successful regarding the Apartheid state of South Africa - could also reap the same success on the Palestinian front. . We will not discuss the success of these policies in South Africa and whether the goals of the revolution were attained, but we will shed a light on the implications of such endeavor- on behalf of BDS - on the Palestinian Cause itself in terms of internationalization and globalization of the cause something that Arabs and Palestinians always feared . This is due to the involvement of such NGOs like BDS and its like in global policies and world Order agendas due to the financing they get from European governments and other institutes, which make them serve the World Order at the expense of Palestinians.

Our conclusion is that- because of its financial affiliations - BDS does not qualify to solve the Palestinian problem because one cannot serve the World Order and Palestine at the same time . This, not to speak of the fact that Israel is not an Apartheid and Palestinians do not suffer from segregation alone . Palestinians need to go back to their homes and retrieve their land , they need to get in possession of what is theirs and whoever thinks that this thing can be achieved by economic pressures and anti racist policies alone must be an ignorant or a fool .
This is Israel my friend , this is not Apartheid and there is nothing like it .This is not some elephant that has gone mad , this is madness itself . This is the usurping state of Israel, the most advanced military base of the criminal World Order , this is all predator countries joined together from Europe to the New continent , this is a state that orders the United Nations and many other Nations as well , the country that kills and slaughters and never fears sanctions, that commits genocides without hesitation , that wants to kill each and every Palestinian and each and every Arab who will not normalize or recognize .This is Ariel Sharon and Golda Meir and Tsipi Livni , this is not Apartheid. This has no other label in all seasons and instances other than that of criminal. This is the criminal state of Israel and is supported by the whole world order and will out wit and outsmart Barghouthi and Abunima and all NGOs joined together.

Let us assume that BDS is working earnestly for Palestinians and conducting these activities for the sake of the cause- at the exclusion of others - and in order to solve the Palestinian issue as it pretends , what has it achieved on the ground for Palestinians since its foundation in 2005 ? Has it stopped the expansion of Israel in any way ?, Has it stopped the colonization and the proliferation of settlements ? Has it stopped the eviction of Palestinians and demolition of their houses ? Has it freed the prisoners from their prisons ? Has it relieved Gaza from its siege ? Has it done away with the wall of segregation ? Has it stopped the flow of weapons and money destined to Israel? Has it worked against normalization ? Has it retrieved any of Palestinian rights? Has it protected Jerusalem? Has it improved in any way the lives of Palestinians ? The answer to all this is NO . BDS has not achieved anything of this and has not harmed- in the least- Israel’s economy or welfare. This is speaks for BDS .

If one wants to rejoice over the boycott of such and such company or of such singer and dancer, or over boycotting West Bank dates, one can do that and one can boycott if one wants and this does not need BDS , this needs personal commitment on one’s behalf . Boycott is good but Boycott cannot retrieve Palestine, nor defeat Israel, nor bring back the people to their land and to pretend otherwise is to cheat people . BDS should be exposed for what it is : A World Order Organization financed by the World Order and working under the banner of Palestine pretending to be in charge of the cause while achieving nothing for Palestinians .The merit of such organization -and other NGOs as well- in the eyes of the World Order- lies in giving up the armed Resistance as a choice and a means for liberation and in alienating the Arab masses and people from the victories achieved by this Resistance. This attitude of shunning the victorious Resistance that defeated Israel benefits Israel in the first place and sheds a light on whom BDS really serves . Meanwhile Israel is given enough time to recover from its two consecutive defeats and to figure out and plan its next scheme of occupation expansion and extermination. THANK YOU BDS!

The 'Sunnification' Of Turkish Foreign Policy

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu pauses during the 49th Conference on Security Policy in Munich, Feb. 3, 2013. (photo by REUTERS/Michael Dalder)

When the Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to power in November 2002, one of its main plans was to use Ankara’s open channels of communication with practically all parties in the Middle East, together with Turkey’s growing “soft power,” to mediate in all kinds of regional disputes and contribute to stability in this turbulent part of the world.

This vision was further energized after Ahmet Davutoglu was appointed foreign minister in May 2009. He wasted no time in implementing his highly encouraging “zero problems with neighbors” policy. It appeared to be working, too, when it emerged that Ankara was negotiating a deal between Israel and Syria.

All of that seems a distant memory today. The state of Turkey’s diplomatic relations with Israel, for one, have not only hit rock bottom, but have also ensured that Ankara is no longer a player in the Middle East peace process. Syrian President Bashar al Assad, in the meantime, has turned into Davutoglu's and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s arch enemy.

In the meantime, the Erdogan government’s approach to the Syrian crisis has also resulted in Turkey being increasingly accused of becoming part of the problem in Syria. In an op-ed in The New York Times, Halil M. Karaveli, a senior fellow affiliated with Johns Hopkins University and the Institute for Security and Development Policy in Stockholm, argued that Turkey today “is exacerbating Syria’s sectarian strife, rather than contributing to a peaceful and pluralistic solution."

Karaveli, in his piece headlined “Turkey, the Unhelpful Ally,” added that the Erdogan government, “while sponsoring the Sunni cause” in Syria, “made no attempt to show sympathy for the fears of the country’s Alawite, Christian and Kurdish minorities.”

Only days before Karaveli’s op-ed, Faleh al-Fayad, Iraq’s national-security adviser, accused Turkey in an interview with Al-Monitor of “transporting militants into Syria” and of “meddling in Iraqi affairs.”

He was followed by Hadi al-Amiri, the Iraqi transportation minister, who, according to a Reuters report, claimed Turkish and Qatari support for Syrian insurgents was tantamount to a declaration of war against Iraq.

"Presenting money and weapons to al-Qaeda by Qatar and Turkey is a declaration of armed action against Iraq," Amiri was quoted as saying. He was referring to the support received by radical Islamist groups fighting the Assad regime, like Al Nusra, which is accused of having links to al-Qaeda.

"These weapons will reach Iraqi chests for sure," Al-Amiri added.

That very same day, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki repeated his frequent claim that “outside influences” were contributing the growing sectarian strife in his country.

“What is going on in Iraq is connected to what is happening in the region. It is also connected to the results of the so-called Arab Spring and some sectarian policies in the region,” he said during an interview with the Associated Press.

Because Maliki has accused Turkey of meddling in his country in the past, his words were taken as referring to Turkey also. Again on that same day, Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah also accused Turkey during a televised address in Lebanon.

He said Turkey, alongside Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the US, is backing Sunni groups in Syria, and suggested that this was also fanning the flames of sectarianism in Lebanon: “There is someone pushing Lebanon quickly into sectarian clashes and working day and night toward achieving this and a clash between Sunnis and Shiites."

Meanwhile, Salih Mohammed Muslim, the head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party in Syria, joined in the chorus and accused Turkey of deepening sectarian divisions in the region by supporting Jihadist groups in Syria. “The Turkish state is interfering in Syria’s domestic affairs. Turkey is trying to influence the situation in line with its own interests,” Muslim was quoted by Hurriyet (Feb. 28) as saying in Paris.

In the backdrop to all this, we have Syrian Information Minister Omran Zoabi’s Feb. 25 outburst on Syrian television, in which he claimed to have evidence of underhanded Turkish involvement in the Syrian crisis, which he said would be turned over to the UN Security Council.

All of this is seriously out of tune with Davutoglu’s vision of Turkey as a stabilizing power in the Middle East, capable of using its impartiality to mediate regional disputes.

Today, Turkey is no longer a player in the Middle East peace process, and is also being marginalized in efforts to end the Syrian crisis.

Ironically, it was Assad, with whom Erdogan and Davutoglu cultivated excellent ties at the time, who had warned that Ankara’s influence would diminish if Turkey severed its ties with Israel.
“The Turkish role in the peace process was built on the relationship between Turkey and Israel, and the relationship between Turkey and Syria. Any mediator must have good ties with both parties,” Assad was quoted as saying by the Syrian new agency SANA, in July 2010 in Madrid, with Spanish Premier José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero by his side.

So how did Turkey not only end up with fewer friends in the Middle East than it started with, but also landed itself in a position where it is now accused of increasing regional instability? The answer seems to lie in what might be termed the "Islamisation of Turkish foreign policy.”

Take relations with Israel, for example. Amicable ties with Israel have, in fact, always been abhorrent to Turkish Islamists. While Erdogan and Davutoglu’s sympathies were very much in line with this, they nevertheless went against their own grain and tried to maintain working ties with the Jewish state for pragmatic reasons.

Israel’s operation “Cast Lead,” launched in the winter of 2008, however, opened the floodgates of their innate anti-Israeli feelings, within which Israelis also detect elements of anti-Semitism. The result was Erdogan’s famous outburst in Davos in January 2009, in which he accused Israel of being highly proficient in killing Palestinian women and children.

Given the widely acknowledged brutality of the Israeli operation, Erdogan’s sentiments were shared by the larger portion of the Turkish public, while his globally televised dressing down of Israel President Shimon Peres in Davos instantly turned him into a hero for the Arab masses.
Turkish and Western diplomats, however, immediately started calculating the costs of this uncontrolled outburst, the most important of them being the end, more or less, of Turkey’s potential roles in the Middle East peace process.

Many observers saw Erdogan’s Islamist outlook as the main driving force behind his outburst against Israel. It was almost as if he were waiting for an opportunity to lash out at Israel in front of an international audience.

This event also provided an indication of how Erdogan’s Islamism would come to dominate what was a secular foreign policy until the advent of the AKP, one which was essentially westward looking and kept Turkey’s national interests, rather than the religiously driven interests of specific governments, in close focus.

What appears to have happened, particularly after the Syrian crisis, is that the Erdogan government’s Islamist orientation has gone a stage further, resulting in the “Sunnification” of Turkish foreign policy. This may be good for overall “Sunni solidarity” in the Middle East, of course.

It is clear that Ankara’s capacity to be an impartial stabilizing soft power in the region has been vastly reduced as a result of Turkey’s taking sides in disputes, some of which go back centuries. What is worse for its reputation, however, is the fact that the same Turkey that once hoped to be a peace broker in its region is now increasingly seen as inflaming sectarian divisions and fueling instability.

World Powers step-down at nuclear talks with Iran

The latest round of talks between the P5+1 powers (aka E3+3) and Iran in Kazakhstan ended on Wednesday. The new proposal by the P5+1 called for easing of the “crippling sanctions” and allowing Iran to keep its 20-percent enriched uranium fuel in return for Tehran’s suspension of its enrichment activities at the Fordo military base.

ayatollahkhamenei[1]On February 28, 2013, Israeli daily Haaretz published the details of the P5+1 proposal it received from American negotiating team, according to which “instead of demanding the complete closure of Iran’s underground uranium enrichment center in Fordo, the so-called P5+1 (the United States, Russia, France, Germany, Britain and China) nations are now asking only the suspension of activities in the Fordo facility and not its complete closure. Furthermore, Iran would not be required to remove all its 20-percent enriched uranium out of the country. Instead, it would be allowed to retain sufficient amounts of enriched uranium for use in Tehran research reactor to produce medical isotopes“.

The US delegation at Kazakhstan talks, headed by under-secretary for political affairs, Zionist Jew Wendy Sherman, arrived in Israel today to brief Netanyahu government. The other two foreign Israel-Firsters who arrived in Tel Aviv to discuss P5+1 proposal, are, Zionist Jew David Cohen, US Treasury’s “executioner” for sanctions against Iran – and Sir Kim Darroch, Britain’s national security adviser, who like his boss David Cameron believes Iran already possesses nuclear bombs.
In 2020, Turkey and Brazil had brokered a far better deal for US-Israel but was rejected by Washington.

Naturally, warmongering Netanyahu was not happy with western powers step-down. He said if Kazakhstan talks fail, a military attack was the only option for the western powers to stop Iran acquiring a nuclear bomb. Netanyahu’s “Iranophobia” has resulted in many pro-Israel Jews to distance themselve from the Zionist regime. Jewish professors Flynt Leverett (Penn State University) and his wife Hillary Mann Leverett (American University) are authors of book, ‘Going to Tehran: Why the United StatesMust Come to Terms with the Islamic Republic of Iran’. On February 25, 2013, in an article published at pro-Israel Al-Jazeera English, they wrote: “Western policymakers and commentators wrongly assume that sanctions will force Iranian concessions in nuclear talks that resume this week in Kazakhstan – or perhaps even undermine the Islamic Republic’s basic stability in advance of the next presidential election in June“.

Former British foreign secretary, MP Jack Straw (with Jewish family roots), claimed at UK daily The Telegraph (February 25, 2013) that “even if Iran gets the Bomb, it won’t be worth going to war“.
“All options remain on the table”, goes the mantra. This is code for saying that the West retains the choice of using military force to stop Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon. We’ll hear it repeated this week, as negotiations between Iran and the “P5 +1” (the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and Germany) resume in Kazakhstan. On occasions, I’ve used the phrase myself. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve become convinced that it is a hindrance to negotiations, rather than a help,” wrote Jack Straw.

Saeed Jalili, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council briefed reporters at the end of 2-day Kazakhstan talks that P5+1 did not demand the closure of Fordo facility. He also added that P5+1 had tried to come closer to Iranian viewpoints on some issues which was a “positive” development.
The expert-level talks between P5+1 and Iran will be held in Istanbul on March 18 – followed by next meeting between the two sides in Almaty on April 5-6.

Chuck Hagel won – and so did Israel Lobby

Tobin Harshaw, the Zionist Op-Ed editor of the NYT summed-up Chuck Hagel’s 58:41 victory in the Bloomberg on February 26, 2013: “So Chuck Hagel is finally and officially the secretary of defense. But there’s not much to celebrate. President Barack Obama has man in place, but Hagel’s disatrous confirmation hearing before his former Senate colleagues assures he will start from a position of weekness“. As expected from any Israel-First American traitor, Harshaw mentioned that Syria and Iran don’t have to enjoy Hagel’s victory.

Mark Bruzonsky, an American Jewish journalist and author, wrote on February 26, that by demonizing Hagel during the Senate hearing, the Israel/Jewish Lobby in fact “won by intimidating all in Washington who have been warned once again that if they ever say or do anything other than what the Israelis demand they will be made to regret it and pay for it“.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Republican Islamophobe, who had urged Hagel to withdraw – called Hagel pro-Iran and a threat to the US-Israel relation – voted against his nomination, but said after Hagel’s victory: “I hope he exceed expectations. It would be great for the country. Sen. Hagel has a challenge to prove to (Israeli) people that he’s up for the job“.

Israel-Firster Republican Senators John McCain and Ted Cruz said their cooperation with Hagel would depend on Hagel’s pro-Israel policies. Michael Goldfarb, a Jewish strategist for the Emergency Committee for Israel tweeted following Hagel’s confirmation: “Sorry, America. No substitute for victory, but we fought the good fight – and did a lot more damage than most thought possible“.
Bill Kristol, the Zionist Jew editor of The Weekly Standard and the chairman of the Emergency Committee for Israel agreed with Michael Goldfarb. “We are heartened that the overwhelming majority of senators from one of the two major parties voted against confirming Mr. Hagel. We believe that, as a result of this battle, Mr. Hagel will be less free to pursue dangerous policies at the Defense Department and less inclined to advocate them within the administration“.

Jewish lobby started anti-Hagel smear campaign the day his name leaked out as Obama’s possible nominee to head the Pentagon. Lobby’s enmity for Hagel goes back when he served US Senator for two terms. Though a committed suporter of the Zionist entity and, also, the so-called “two-state solution for the occupied Palestine“, Hagel refused to take marching orders from AIPAC that the overwhelming majority of lawmakers in the Senate and Congress do. Israel-Firster Rep. Gary Ackerman defended Hagel against AIPAC smear-campaign by saying: “Not everyone who disagree with Israel’s policies is antisemetic, otherwise half the Jewish population of Israel would be antisemitic!“. Hagel’s problem with AIPAC is that instead of calling “let us bomb bomb Iran and Palestinian”, Hagel suggested to have peace with Palestinians and that the US negotiate with Iran on the nuclear issue.

The Jewish groups also blasted Chuck Hagel for voting against confirmation of Bill Clinton’s nominee for first US gay ambassador in US history to Luxembourg in 1998. James Hormel is an openly pro-Israel gay diplomat. Hormel, earlier was rejected by Fiji government for country’s anti-gay laws. Last year, Hagel caved-in to Jewish lobby pressure and openly apologized to James Hormel – making Pope Benedict XVI very happy!

ANKARA: ANTI-IMPERIALIST PROTESTS AGAINST JOHN KERRY’S VISIT

Posted on March 1, 2013 by Veritas

US Secretary of State John Kerry (L) meets with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara on March 1, 2013.
US Secretary of State John Kerry meets with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara on March 1, 2013.

An anti-US demonstration has been held outside the Turkish prime minister’s office in Ankara to protest against the official visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in the country to coordinate plans to support militants fighting the Syrian government.

On Friday, police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, who were trying to break through a security cordon around Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s office in the capital, the Associated Press reported.

The demonstrators were holding banners reading “Kerry get out” and condemned the “imperialist powers” for waging wars against countries.

Kerry, who is making his first overseas trip as secretary of state, arrived in Ankara earlier in the day on the fifth leg of his tour of nine European and Middle Eastern countries to rally support for the militants fighting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday, the US secretary of state hailed Ankara’s leading role in backing the armed insurgency against the Syrian government, saying that Washington and Ankara will continue “to try to create a political transition” in Syria.

Before arriving in Turkey, Kerry visited Britain, Germany, France, and Italy.

In Rome on Thursday, he pledged an additional $60 million in assistance for the foreign-backed opposition in Syria — the so-called Syrian National Coalition.

Kerry is also scheduled to visit Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar before returning to the United States.

Meanwhile, female members of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), held a conference in the southern city of Iskenderun to denounce the deployment of Patriot surface-to-air (SAM) missiles along the country’s border with Syria.
All of the Patriot systems, which are deployed by the US, Germany, and the Netherlands, became operational in the southern cities of Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, and Adana last month.

In November 2012, NATO announced a plan to deploy six batteries to “protect Turkey” from potential Syrian missile strikes.

Damascus has censured the deployment of the Patriot missiles along the Syrian border, calling it another act of provocation by the Turkish government.

The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed.

Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the armed groups.

In an interview recently broadcast on German television, the Syrian president said that the government did not start the conflict and the militant groups were the ones killing Syrian citizens and destroying the country’s infrastructure.
