‘She kept screaming,’ says father of two-year-old killed in Israeli airstrike

rahafhassan
Yahya Hassan mourns while holding the body of his daughter, Rahaf, during a funeral for the toddler and her pregnant mother yesterday at the Nusairat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
[Ed. note – Killing two-year-old children, of course, is what the Israelis so often excel at. Let’s keep in mind also that Bernie Sanders is a supporter of Israel, and that any politician who votes aid to Israel is complicit in this genocide and should be charged as an accessory to war crimes.]

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — A doll and a few toys were the only belongings left by two-year-old Rahaf Hassan when she was killed along with her 25-year-old pregnant mother in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza City on Sunday.

Shortly before the attack, Rahaf and her mother had been safe in their family home, which lies among olive groves in an agricultural area, seemingly far from any military presence.

Israel claims that the house lay close to a military base used by Palestinian resistance fighters, justifying a missile fired by an M16 Israeli fighter jet that in the early hours of Sunday brought the house crashing down.

The family was trapped among the rubble, Rahaf’s father, Yahya, told Ma’an, and his two-year-old daughter screamed for him in the hope he would hurry to pull her out.

He listened to her helplessly, himself buried beneath the rubble together with his son.

Rahaf kept screaming, he said, with her voice gradually dying away until she died.

When Yahya realized that Rahaf had stopped screaming, he himself began to cry for help.

“I am here, help me! I can hear my son screaming, but I can’t hear Rahaf anymore — don’t forget her!” he shouted.

Yahya’s cousin Husam told Ma’an that the nearby building Israel’s warplanes targeted had “nothing to do with any military group.”

“What guilt has two-year-old Rahaf? Has she or her pregnant mother been launching missiles at Israel?”

The Israeli army said in a statement Sunday that the airstrikes targeted “two Hamas weapon manufacturing facilities in the northern Gaza Strip.”

The statement made no mention of any deaths or damage to civilian homes.

The strike came after a rocket was fired from the blockaded coastal enclave late Saturday that was destroyed by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system south of Ashkelon with no injuries reported.

Rahaf and her mother’s death brought the total number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip to 11 since the beginning of this month, with nine others killed in clashes at the territory’s border fence, including two boys, aged 13 and 15, on Saturday.

The two were also the first Palestinians to be killed in an Israeli airstrike since last year’s devastating Gaza war, which saw around 2,300 Palestinians killed, most of them civilians.

Among those were 535 children, nearly 70 percent of whom were under the age of 12.

Yahya’s uncle, Abu Othman, lifted the remains of Rahaf’s doll and clothes. “Are these remains of a military site?” he asked.

’ISIL’ Militant Opens Fire on Ashura Mourners in KSA, Five Killed

At least five people had reportedly been killed after an "ISIL" Takfiri militant opened fire on a group of people attending a religious mourning ceremony in eastern Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi media, nine people also sustained injuries in the armed attack on the religious center in the city of Saihat near the Qatif region of Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province on Friday night.

"A person who opened fire on a husseiniya was killed, and the attacker was in his twenties," al-Ekhbariya TV quoted sources as saying.

Witnesses said the attacker was trying to approach the gathering, but he was stopped by security guards at a checkpoint. A gun fight then broke out between the two sides.

According to reports, the militant was killed by Saudi forces, while those injured were transferred to the hospital.

The "ISIL" Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack in an online statement.

The Saudi Attacker on the mosque

At the time of attack, the mourners were commemorating the beginning of the mourning rituals of the month of Muharram, the 10th day of which, known as Ashura, marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the third imam.

Meanwhile, reports said another armed assault targeted a mosque in the al-Anoud district of Dammam, the capital of Eastern Province on Friday. A foreign worker at the site was wounded in the incident.

Saudi security sources said both assailants in the Friday attacks were Saudi nationals.
Shortly after the attacks, people took to streets in Saihat to condemn the acts of terror against them.

Over the past months, "ISIL" extremists had carried out several terror attacks on the Saudi soil.

In a May, a bomber attacked a mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh, located in the oil-rich kingdom's Qatif district, killing 21 people there. "ISIL" later claimed responsibility for the assault.

Following the attack, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of the region to show their anger against "ISIL" as well as the Al Saud dynasty. Protesters expressed their frustration at authorities over the deadly blast.

Also in August, a bomb attack, claimed by "ISIL", targeted a mosque used by members of a local security force in the southwestern region of Asir, leaving 15 people dead.

During Ashura ceremonies last year, armed men killed seven worshipers, including children, in the eastern town of al-Dalwa. The Saudi Interior Ministry said back then the suspects in the assault were linked to "ISIL".

"ISIL" terrorists control swathes of land in Syria and neighboring Iraq. The extremist group has also carried out terror attacks in other countries of the world through its affiliates.
The Saudi regime is known as a major supporter of "ISIL" terrorists.

Report: US, Turkish Intelligence Coordinated ISIL Leader’s Transfer to Turkey for Treatment

(FNA) ~ ISIL (ISIS-DAESH) Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been transferred to Turkey for treatment through a series of coordination measures by the CIA after the notorious terrorist leader was severely injured in the Iraqi army’s airstrike on his convoy in Western Anbar province, media reports disclosed on Wednesday.
“The CIA has drone coordination with the Turkish intelligence organization to transfer al-Baghdadi to Turkey,” the Arabic-language al-Manar TV quoted unnamed sources as saying on Wednesday.
The source said that two companions of al-Baghdadi who were also injured in the attack on the ISIL leader’s convoy and were captured by the Iraqi forces have confirmed that al-Baghdadi has been injured in the Sunday attack.

A military statement by the Iraqi Army announced on Sunday that the Iraqi air force had bombed the convoy of al-Baghdadi while he was heading to Al-Karable to attend a meeting with ISIL commanders.

Al-Karable is the Subdistrict in the West of the Al Anbar province of Iraq, beside the Syrian border in an area of high ground.

On Sunday, Spokesman of Iraqi joint forces announced that the ISIL leader had been injured and over two dozen more Takfiri terrorists killed in the Iraqi army’s airstrike on their convoy in Anbar province.

Al-Baghdadi was injured in the Iraqi airstrike on his convoy on Sunday and was transferred to another place by his forces, the spokesman said.

He also said that 25 other ISIL terrorists who were accompanying al-Baghdadi were killed in the airstrike.

Arabic-language media outlets said a special unit of Iraq’s air force known as the Falcons who have so far managed to kill several ISIL leaders in various operations, including an efficient attack on a number of top terrorist commanders on June 1, has done the airstrike.
Several ISIL commanders were killed in the June airstrike, including Abu Hareth Al-Shami, Abu Aeshe al-Ansari – an explosives expert – Moroccan national Abu Yousef Al-Jezrawi, Abu Hussein Al-Salmani who was in charge of ISIL’s Zakah (an Islamic tax system) issues, and Wa’d al-Latif Jom’eh al-Mohammadi who was in charge of ISIL’s suicide operation agents.

War Crimes Alert: Saudi-led occupation forces use chemical, biological weapons in Yemen

Army Spokesman: Saudi forces use chemical, biological weapons in Yemen’s Ma’rib

(FNA) ~ Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Qaleb Luqman disclosed extensive use of chemical and biological weapons by Saudi-led forces in Yemen’s Ma’rib province.
“The coalition of Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia has used chemical and biological weapons in Ma’rib,” Arab media outlets quoted General Luqman as saying on Tuesday.
In early April, a senior Yemeni military official said that revolutionary fighters have confiscated a number of Saudi trucks carrying chemical substances for the terrorists running operations in the Muslim country.
Yemeni Major General Khalid al-Barayemi said that the revolutionary forces found the chemical weapons in several Saudi trucks bound for areas under Saudi-backed ISIL and Al-Qaeda terrorists’ control.
He added that the substances seized can be used for producing Sarin gas which is a deadly weapon.
Al-Barayemi also said there is sufficient evidence that Turkish planes have recently delivered weapons into Yemen’s soil under the cover of humanitarian aid, implying that the chemical weapons substances might have been transited from Turkey.
The Yemeni official further said that Yemen’s fugitive president Mansour Hadi spoke on the phone with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyib Erdogan two months ago, during which he sought Ankara’s military aid.
Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
Saudi Arabia is known to be the main backer and financier of terrorist groups in the region. A few months ago, US Vice-President Joe Biden blamed Riyadh for its direct role in support of various terrorist groups in the region, including the ISIL and the Nusra Front.
The monarchy has also been supplying ISIL and Nusra Front terrorists with chemical weapons and chemical ingredients for building such weapons.

Palestine clashesOccupation forces said that an Israeli soldier was moderately wounded when a Palestinian stabbed him.

Israeli forces assaulted Palestinian journalists in the area attempting to cover the incident, threatening that they would open fire unless they left.

Locals said Israeli soldiers prevented the Red Crescent from reaching the area to treat the man.

Other confrontations were also reported in other cities across the West Bank including al-Quds (Jerusalem), our correspondent said, but noted that the fiercest clashes were in Hebron.

Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man near the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement in Hebron, Friday, after he allegedly stabbed a soldier in the area.

A Palestinian news crew from Al-Quds TV captured the incident while reporting live in the area, with footage showing Israeli forces surrounding a Palestinian man lying injured on the ground and appearing to open fire.

Israel's army said a soldier was stabbed and moderately wounded by an assailant disguised as a "news photographer".

A journalist who witnessed the incident told Ma'an News Agency that he saw a man wearing a yellow vest marked 'PRESS' stabbing an Israeli soldier.

Israeli forces then opened fire multiple times, with another soldier reportedly injured by friendly fire during the incident.

The attacker was identified asEyad Khalil Awawdeh, 26, from the Hebron district town of Dura.

The Foreign Press Association released a statement following the incident deploring the "violation of press privilege" and called on Palestinian media to verify all media credentials to prevent violations. Israeli forces assaulted Palestinian journalists in the area attempting to cover the incident, threatening that they would open fire unless they left.

Locals said Israeli soldiers prevented the Red Crescent from reaching the area to treat the man.

Hebron clashes

Shortly after Friday's stabbing, clashes broke out at the northern entrance of Hebron, Ras al-Jura, between Palestinian youth and Israeli forces, leaving at least nine Palestinians injured by live Israeli fire, 11 with rubber-coated steel bullets, and 45 with tear gas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that injured were also evacuated from Beit Einun area in northeastern Hebron, adding that a Palestinian ambulance was targeted during clashes, lightly injuring medics.

Witnesses said that hundreds of youths threw rocks at forces deployed at the Halhul bridge while soldiers responded with live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, tear-gas bombs, and stun grenades.

The clashes broke out during a march called for by the political, national, and Islamic forces of the Hebron district that set off from a mosque in the area.

Protesters called slogans for resisting Israel and Israeli settlers, supporting the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, and demanding national unity.

Clashes also erupted at the northern entrance of the nearby town of Beit Ummar where hundreds of Palestinian youths threw rocks at an Israeli military checkpoint set up at the town’s entrance. Eight Palestinians were injured, two with live fire during the clashes.

Yasin Adel Ahmad Mtallaq Za'aqeeq,11, was shot with a live bullet in the left ankle, and Amir Shawkat Abd al-Rahman Alqam, 20, was shot in the left elbow. They were taken to a hospital in Hebron via alternate routes after Israeli forces closed the village entrance, spokesman for the popular resistance committee in the village, Muhammad Ayyad Awad, said.

Six others were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets and were treated on the scene, while Basil Jamal Mohammad Breigheth,17, and Tariq Nasir Hilmi Abu Ayyash,16, were detained by Israeli forces.

Awad added that Israeli forces sprayed homes in the village with skunk water.

An Israeli army spokesperson did not have immediate comment on Hebron-area clashes. The Hebron area is one of several across the occupied West Bank that has seen increasing clashes and attacks in recent weeks.

Last Friday, Muhammad Fares Abdullah al-Jaabari, 19, was shot dead in the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement after stabbing an Israeli border policeman. Israeli settlers carried out attacks on Palestinians in the Hebron area following the incident.

Earlier this week Israeli forces raided homes in Hebron belonging to the families of three Palestinians killed after carrying out alleged attacks. The raids came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for punitive demolitions for the family homes of suspected attackers. As tensions rise across the occupied Palestinian territory, over a thousand have been injured by Israeli live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets in the past two weeks.

Rights group have called on the Israeli government to halt widespread use of excessive force and collective punishment of Palestinians across the area.
