International Criminal Lawyer to ST: ICC is Controlled by The US and EU

DAMASCUS, (ST)- An International Criminal Lawyer has underscored that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has fallen under the influence of those who fund it mainly the EU, and US and private corporations who donate to it and who are very willing to use the court when it suits their interests.
Mr. Christopher Black told the Syria Times e-newspaper that the US will not recognize the court, nevertheless it attempts to use it through certain personnel placed in key positions to do its bidding.
“The Americans and British, for example, are putting pressure on the ICC to investigate and charge the Syrian government with war crimes.
This effort is fronted by certain lawyers pretending to represent Syrian refugees, but the lawyers all work for US and UK intelligence and NATO,” he said.
The veteran lawyer went on to say: “one of the US lawyers involved is Stephen Rapp who was once in charge of prosecutions at the Rwanda tribunal where he engaged in some corrupt practices, then became head of the Hariri tribunal which had the objective of making propaganda against Syria, then became the US roving ambassador for war crimes. Now he is acting on US government’s orders.”
He affirmed that US, EU and other NATO countries do not want the ICC to be used against them but they are very willing to use it to suit their interests.
“The USA did sign up to the Rome Treaty but withdrew its signature under President Bush because the Americans see themselves as the exceptional people, subject to no laws but their own, at the same time that they try to dictate to the world what the law should be,” Mr. Black added.
He made it clear that there are of course many atrocities that have been committed by American forces in all their wars and will be in the future but they do not want to be judged in a world court, have their officer and leaders put on trial, their national reputation disgraced.
“They [American forces] also view war crimes tribunals as only suitable for those who have defeated, as propaganda show trials to justify their wars and portray the defeated enemy as criminals. But they will never tolerate the same treatment for themselves because they see themselves in their arrogance above all others and subject to no one’s judgement,” the lawyer stated.
He underscored that the ICC is not accountable to any higher body. “For this reason, Russia and China and I suspect Syria have not joined it.  All national courts are part of a governmental system. Court decisions can be challenged at appeal levels and even to the government in certain cases. But there is no world government for the ICC to report to or where its decisions can be challenged.  So it has fallen under the influence of those that fund it mainly the EU, and US and private corporations who donate to it.”
The chance of the US or close allies being charged is zero
In response to a question about who will judge American, Israeli atrocities and their allies for their war crimes in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine, the lawyer said: “No one will judge them except the peoples of those countries. There are no means possible to bring them to justice before an international body with the present world power structure. However, each country that has suffered under their aggression can lay their own charges, have their own trials, even in absentia, and show the world the crimes that they committed.”
He indicated that the Americans have made it very clear they will not permit their people to be arrested by the ICC or their allies. “As we saw this week with Afghanistan, when they don’t want to be investigated, the ICC will back off and will drop its investigations. They even have a law permitting them (a US law) to physically release any of their people even if they were arrested. So the chance of the US or close allies such as Israel being charged is zero.”
The lawyer asserted that the ICC is dominated by EU and US and other NATO countries such as Canada.
“Many of the staff are people that used to work under NATO -US command at the Yugoslav and Rwanda tribunals which were in name UN tribunals but were in fact controlled by the USA. Key staff they can rely on to do what they want are placed in key positions,” he said.
Mr. Black concluded by saying: “Once again, the only people who can hold them accountable are the people of the nations they have attacked.”

Moscow’s Strategy: To Win Everywhere, Every Time

Moscow’s Strategy: To Win Everywhere, Every Time

Moscow’s Strategy: To Win Everywhere, Every Time

Important events have occurred in the Middle East and North Africa in recent weeks that underline how the overall political reconfiguration of the region is in full swing. The
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance) continues its diplomatic relations and, following Rouhani’s meeting in Baghdad, it was the turn of Adil Abdul-Mahdi to be received in Tehran by the highest government and religious authorities. Among the many statements released, two in particular reveal the high level of cooperation between the two countries, as well as demonstrating how the
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance) is in full bloom, carrying significant prospects for the region. Abdul-Mahdi also reiterated that Iraq will not allow itself to be used as a platform from which to attack Iran:
“Iraqi soil will not be allowed to be used by foreign troops to launch any attacks against Iran. The plan is to export electricity and gas for other countries in the region.”
Considering that these two countries were mortal enemies during Saddam Hussein’s time, their rapprochement is quite a (geo)political miracle, owing much of its success to Russia’s involvement in the region. The 4+1 coalition (Russia, Iran, Iraq, Syria plus Hezbollah) and the anti-terrorism center in Baghdad came about as a result of Russia’s desire to coordinate all the allied parties in a single front. Russia’s military support of Syria, Iraq and Hezbollah (together with China’s economic support) has allowed Iran to begin to transform the region such that the
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance) can effectively counteract the destabilizing chaos unleashed by the trio of the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel.
One of the gaps to be filled in the
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance) lies in Lebanon, which has long experienced an internal conflict between the many religious and political currents in the country. The decision by Washington to recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israel pushed the Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, to make an important symbolic visit to Moscow to meet with President Putin.
Once again, the destabilizing efforts of the Saudis, Israelis and Americans are having the unintended effect of strengthening the
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance). It seems that this trio fails to understood how such acts as murdering Khashoggi, using civilian planes to hide behind in order to conduct bombing runs in Syria, recognizing the occupied territories like the Golan Heights – how these produce the opposite effects to the ones desired.
The supply of S-300 systems to Syria after the downing of the Russian reconnaissance plane took place as a result of Tel Aviv failing to think ahead and anticipate how Russia may respond.
What is surprising in Moscow’s actions is the versatility of its diplomacy, from the deployment of the S-300s in Syria, or the bombers in Iran, to the prompt meetings with Netanyahu in Moscow and Mohammad bin Salman at the G20. The ability of the Russian Federation to mediate and be present in almost every conflict on the globe restores to the country the international stature that is indispensable in counterbalancing the belligerence of the United States.
The main feature of Moscow’s approach is to find areas of common interest with its interlocutor and to favor the creation of trade or knowledge exchange. Another military and economic example can be found in a third axis; not the Shia or Saudi-Israeli-US one but the Turkish-Qatari one. In Syria, Erdogan started from positions that were exactly opposite to those of Putin and Assad. But with decisive military action and skilled diplomacy, the creation of the Astana format between Iran, Turkey and Russia made Turkey and Qatar publicly take the defense of Islamist takfiris and criminals in Idlib. Qatar for its part has a two-way connection with Turkey, but it is also in open conflict with the Saudi-Israeli axis, with the prospect of abandoning OPEC within a few weeks. This situation has allowed Moscow to open a series of negotiations with Doha on the topic of LNG, with these two players controlling most of the LNG on the planet. It is evident that also the Turkish-Qatari axis is strongly conditioned by Moscow and by the potential military agreements between Turkey and Russia (sale of S-400) and economic and energy agreements between Moscow and Doha.
America’s actions in the region risks combining the Qatari-Turkish front with the
Shia axis (Axis of Resistance) , again thanks to Moscow’s skilful diplomatic work. The recent sale of nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia, together with the withdrawal from the JCPOA (the Iranian nuclear agreement), has created concern and bewilderment in the region and among Washington’s allies. The act of recognizing the occupied Golan Heights as belonging to Israel has brought together the Arab world as few events have done in recent times. Added to this, Trump’s open complaints about OPEC’s high pricing of oil has forced Riyadh to start wondering out aloud whether to start selling oil in a currency other than the dollar. This rumination was quickly denied, but it had already been aired. Such a decision would have grave implications for the petrodollar and most of the financial and economic power of the United States.
If the Shia axis (Axis of Resistance), with Russian protection, is strengthened throughout the Middle East, the Saudi-Israel-American triad loses momentum and falls apart, as seen in Libya, with Haftar now one step closer in unifying the country thanks to the support of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, France and Russia, with Fayez al-Sarraj now abandoned by the Italians and Americans awaiting his final defeat.
While the globe continues its multipolar transformation, the delicate balancing role played by Russia in the Middle East and North Africa is emphasized. The Venezuelan foreign minister’s recent visit to Syria shows how the front opposed to US imperialist bullying is not confined to the Middle East, with countries in direct or indirect conflict with Washington gathering together under the same protective Sino-Russian umbrella.
Trump’s “America First” policy, coupled with the conviction of American exceptionalism, is driving international relations towards two poles rather than multipolar ones, pushing China, Russia and all other countries opposed to the US to unite in order to collectively resist US diktats.

Hard Truths in Syria الحقائق الصعبة في سوريا

America Can’t Do More With Less, and It Shouldn’t Try

Julian Assange’s Victory

April 17, 2019 “Information Clearing House” – Throughout history, dark and reactionary forces have always attempted to control the world; by violence, by deceit, by kidnapping and perverting the mainstream narrative,  or by spreading fear among the masses.
Consistently, brave and honest individuals have been standing up, exposing lies, confronting the brutality and depravity. Some have fought against insane and corrupt rulers by using swords or guns; others have chosen words as their weapons.
Many were cut down; most of them were. New comrades rose up; new banners of resistance were unveiled.
To resist is to dream of a better world. And to dream is to live.
The bravest of the brave never fought for just their own countries and cultures; they fought for the entire humanity. They were and they are what one could easily define as “intuitive internationalists”.
Julian Assange, an Australian computer expert, thinker and humanist, had chosen a new and mostly untested form of combat: he unleashed an entire battalion of letters and words, hundreds of thousands of documents, against the Western empire. He penetrated databases which have been storing the evidence of the most atrocious crimes the West has been committing for years and decades. Toxic secrets were exposed; truths revealed. To those who have been suffering in silence, both face and dignity were finally returned.
Julian Assange was a ‘commander’ of a small team of dedicated experts and activists. I met some of them, and was tremendously impressed. But no matter how small in numbers, this team has been managing to change the world, or at least to give the Western public an opportunity to know, and consequently to act. After WikiLeaks, no one in New York, Berlin, London or Paris has any right to say “we did not know”. If they do not know now, it is because they have decided not to know, opportunistically and cynically.
Julian Assange and his comrades published all that the West was doing to the Afghan people, as well as to those suffering from neo-colonialism and imperialism all over the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
What is it that the critics of Wikileaks are holding against Mr. Assange? That the snitches and the agents of the Western empire got ‘exposed’? Is the world expected to feel pity for them? Are tens of millions of victims supposed to be forgotten just so that the members of the Western intelligence services and their lackeys could feel safe and protected?
A few days before this essay went to print, Julian Assange was cynically betrayed by a country which used to be governed by a socialist administration, and which gave him political asylum and citizenship, both. Its current ruler, Lenin Moreno, will be judged extremely harshly by history: he’ll be remembered as a man who began dismantling the socialist structure of Ecuador, and who then literally sold (to the twisted British and US judiciary systems) a man who has already sacrificed more than his life for the truth as well as for survival of our planet.
As the Metropolitan Police dragged Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian embassy in London into a van, the entire world could catch a glimpse of the naked essence of the Western regime; the regime in action – oppressive, gangrenous, murderous and vindictive.
But we should not forget: the regime is not doing it because it is confident and strong. It is actually terrified. It is in panic. It is losing. And it is murdering, wherever it feels ‘vulnerable’, which is, all over the world.
Why? Because the millions, on all continents, are waking up, ready to face Western terror, ready to fight it, if there is no other way.
It is because they now know the truth. It is because the reality cannot be hidden; the brutality of Western global dictates is something that no one can deny any longer. Thanks to the new media in countries that have managed to free themselves from Western influence. And of course, thanks to heroes like Julian Assange, and his comrades.
Julian Assange has not fallen. He was stabbed, betrayed. But he is here, he is alive, with us; with the millions of those who support him, admire him, and are grateful to him for his honesty, courage and integrity.
He confronted the entire Empire; the most powerful, evil, destructive and brutal force on earth. And he managed to damage its secret organizations, consequently spoiling some of the plans, therefore saving lives.
All this can be considered a victory. Not the final victory, but a victory nevertheless.
By arresting Assange, the empire showed its weakness. By dragging him from the embassy into a police van, it has admitted that it already has begun sewing its own funeral gown.

How many British MPs are working for ‘israel’?

Israeli London embassy spy Shai Masot
Aljazeera is to be congratulated on an undercover investigation exposing something most of us could probably have guessed: that some Israeli embassy staff in the UK – let’s not pussy around, Mossad agents – are working with senior political activists and politicians in the Conservative and Labour parties to subvert their own parties from within, and skew British foreign policy so that it benefits Israeli, rather than British, interests.
One cannot really blame Israel for doing this. Most states promote their interests as best they can. But one can and should expose and shame the British politicians who are collaborating with Israel in further harming Britain’s representative democracy.
It is not as though these people cannot be easily identified. They even advertise what they are up to. They are members of the Conservative and Labour Friends of Israel (CFI and LFI respectively). They dominate both parliamentary parties, but especially the Conservatives. According to the CFI’s figures, fully 80 per cent of Tory MPs belong to the party’s Friends of Israel group.

Traitors?

Once, no one would have hesitated to call British politicians acting in the interests of a foreign power, and very possibly taking financial benefits for doing so, “traitors”. And yet, as Aljazeera’s secretly filmed footage shows, Israeli spies like Shai Masot can readily meet and conspire with a Tory minister’s much-trusted aide to discuss how best to “take down” the deputy foreign minister, Alan Duncan, over his criticisms of Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied territories. Maria Strizzolo, Education Minister Robert Halfon’s assistant, suggests engineering a “little scandal” to damage Duncan.
Once, no one would have hesitated to call British politicians acting in the interests of a foreign power, and very possibly taking financial benefits for doing so, “traitors”.
Masot and Israel’s intelligence services cannot influence British foreign policy through the opposition Labour party, but that doesn’t prevent them from also taking a keen interest in Labour MPs. Masot is filmed talking to Labour Friends of Israel’s chair, Joan Ryan, about “lots of money” – more than GBP 1 million – he has received from the Israeli government to send yet another batch of Labour MPs on an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel, where they will be wined and dined, and primed by top officials to adopt even more extreme pro-Israel positions. LFI is known for sending the largest proportion of MPs to Israel on these kinds of trips.
Labour MP Joan Ryan with Israeli spy Shai Masot
Labour MP Joan Ryan was told by the Israeli spy Shai Masot at the meeting that she could go on an expenses paid trip to Israel
Does that have an effect on British domestic politics. You bet it does! Israel isn’t a charity.
A large number of those who have been making Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s life a misery belong to Labour Friends of Israel. They are the same MPs who have been talking up an “anti-Semitism crisis” in the Labour party – based on zero tangible evidence – since Corbyn became party leader. Were they following the dictates of their conscience? Did they really fear an anti-Semitism plague had suddenly beset their party? Or were they playing deeply cynical politics to oust a leader who supports justice for the Palestinian people and is considered by Israel’s right wing government, which has no interest in making peace with the Palestinians, to be bad news for Israel?
Al Jazeera’s investigation has not been shown yet, so we can rely only on the snippets released so far, either by Aljazeera itself or additional leaks of the investigation provided by the Mail on Sunday.
It is worth listening to a Tory minister in the government of recently departed David Cameron, who writes anonymously in the Mail on Sunday. S/he warns of a double whammy to British politics caused by Israel and its British partisans – one that is starting to approach the damage done to the US political system by Israel.

Agents of Israel

The British government skews its foreign policy to avoid upsetting Jewish donors, s/he says. MPs, meanwhile, act like agents of a foreign power – s/he generously assumes unwittingly – rather than representatives of the British people. Forget international law, these politicians are not even promoting British interests.
Here is what the minister writes:
British foreign policy is in hock to Israeli influence at the heart of our politics, and those in authority have ignored what is going on.
For years the CFI and Labour Friends of Israel (LFI) have worked with – even for – the Israeli government and their London embassy to promote Israeli policy and thwart UK government policy and the actions of ministers who try to defend Palestinian rights.
Lots of countries try to force their views on others, but what is scandalous in the UK is that instead of resisting it, successive governments have submitted to it, taken donors’ money, and allowed Israeli influence-peddling to shape policy and even determine the fate of ministers.
Even now, if I were to reveal who I am, I would be subjected to a relentless barrage of abuse and character assassination…
It now seems clear people in the Conservative and Labour parties have been working with the Israeli embassy, which has used them to demonise and trash MPs who criticise Israel; an army of Israel’s useful idiots in Parliament.
This is politically corrupt, and diplomatically indefensible. The conduct of certain MPs needs to be exposed as the poisonous and deceitful infiltration of our politics by the unwitting agents of another country …
We need a full inquiry into the Israeli embassy, the links, access and funding of the CFI and LFI.
It is rare that I agree with a Tory government minister, but such an inquiry cannot come too soon.

An indictment of the UK media

Note too that it is an indictment of the UK media that Aljazeera, rather than the British fourth estate, has exposed Israel’s moves to subvert the British political system. It is not as though reporters from the BBC, the Guardian, the Timesand the Mail haven’t had ministers like the one above complaining to them for years about interference from Israel. So, why did they not long ago send in undercover teams to expose this collusion between Israel and British MPs?
Here we have documented evidence of the Israeli government secretly plotting with “friendly” British MPs to oust a British government minister. Will we… have weeks of coverage of this story in the UK media, or will it be quickly filed away and forgotten?
We have had weeks of stories about the supposed efforts of Russia and Putin to subvert the US election, without a hint yet of any evidence, and based on a central allegation against the Russians that they compromised the election result by releasing truthful information about wrongdoing in the Democratic Party. Russian diplomats have been expelled based on these evidence-free claims, and President Obama has vowed to take other, covert action against Russia.
Here we have documented evidence of the Israeli government secretly plotting with “friendly” British MPs to oust a British government minister. If that isn’t interference in the British political system, I don’t know what is. Will we similarly have weeks of coverage of this story in the UK media, or will it be quickly filed away and forgotten?
And will any action beyond the removal of Masot be demanded by the British government? It seems unlikely. The Foreign Office has already issued a statement saying that, following Masot’s dismissal, it considers the matter closed.

We are at a critical time to save Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange

Global Research, April 18, 2019
In every struggle for Peace and Justice, there are critical moments that can change the outcome of that struggle. These days are so crucial to save the Body and Mind of two great humble human beings who are under immense barbaric treatment by their captors. Their voices have been silenced by illegal arrests and since then have been denied any contact with the outside world. Wherever we are, we must feel their pain and at this moment be their voices.
In the U.S., the Democratic and Republican Administrations already have introduced a dreadful detention system like Guantanamo Bay to justify and normalize their torturous techniques in breaking down the spirit of their detainees. The submissive U.K. “leaders” without any legal permission or logical reason have detained Julian Assange in their own “GITMO” Belmarsh Prison. This notorious prison in London poses grave concerns about the wellbeing of Julian Assange.
Today, we must increase our efforts to save Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange and make their freedom possible. We have the right to know about the health of our loved ones behind bars. The right of visitation for people in detention is a minimum demand that every civilized nation must accommodate. A delegation of immediate families members, the families of the Iraqi victims, doctors, lawyers, journalists and supporters should have the right to visit Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange.
Let’s not forget: the “Original Sin” mainly was the publication of a video about how a series of air-to-ground attacks conducted by a team of two U.S. AH-64 Apache helicopters in Al-Amin al-Thaniyah in Iraq killing innocent civilians while they were laughing and shooting.
Free Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange NOW!

From Lebanon with Love: Hand in Hand to Rescue and Relief

Because a hand fights best when it is made a fist, humans are always there to back their peers wherever a catastrophe happens to be.
The Lebanese Red Cross Committee went to Iran, carrying loads of love and solidarity to assist Iranian brothers in humanity fight the floods that hit almost the entire country.
The Lebanese team, shoulder to shoulder with the Iranian Red Crescent, was on the ground on a field visit that aimed at assessing the damage, raising awareness in the world and consequently raising funds to help those who are in urgent humanitarian assistance.
The number of people affected by this disaster is 10 million people, which means that they were hit in a way or another by the floods. Out of this sum, there are 2 million who are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
The Iranian Red Crescent used 93 boats to rescue people trapped by the rising water. They helped 480000 people. They also transferred 248000 people to camps that would serve as temporary shelters after being evacuated from the villages at risk.
In Ahvaz alone, the Red Crescent evacuated 8340 people from the villages surrounding the area below the Karkheh Dam after fears that the dam would collapse. They use 6 Iranian Red Crescent helicopters to do that.
In an exclusive interview with al-Ahed News, Spokeswoman of the Red Cross Committee, Ms. Rana Sidani conveyed her reflections from the visit, less than a day after returning from a field visit that took her to flood-stricken areas across Iran.
Reflections of the Visit
The lady described her views, telling us that what was remarkable about this flood is how wide the affected geographic areas are.
“Almost all 31 provinces in Iran have been affected. The ones that are completely affected are Golestan, Lorestan, Khuzestan and Ilam. Whole provinces are under water.”
I went by helicopter to examine how many villages have been over-flooded. I’ve seen entire villages under water, something that I’ve never seen before, Ms. Sidani added.
“What was really heartbreaking is that I’ve seen houses surrounded by water and their residents don’t want to leave, they want to stay with their livestock. They don’t want to leave the house because it is their livelihood there. It is the source of their income.
They don’t want to leave even if the houses are surrounded by water, and if rains fell in the upcoming days their lives will be at risk.”
The Iranian Red Crescent distributed to them food and relief items from time to time by helicopters or by boats.
She further described how she was really heartbroken for how much this disaster has affected people for a long time:
“I’ve seen as well entire villages covered by mud. You cannot imagine how devastating the mud is. Imagine that your entire house is full of mud; your bed, your pillow, your television, all the electricity system at house. You are walking in a sea of mud. I was touched very much when I saw children trying to clean up their toys. But at the same time, what gave me a little bit pleasure is to witness the solidarity among people. They’ve lost everything but this disaster has united people. It has shown to which extent each one is trying to help the other. Nothing is for me alone. I will share even if I have a little bit of food, I’ll share it.”
Red Cross Mission in Iran
Our mission had two objectives: we went with a field assessment and coordination team. It is the team that is deployed for disasters, to evaluate the needs and assess the situation, and accordingly to put a plan of action that we will implement together with our partners at the Iranian Red Crescent. So, the first part of the mission was the assessment of needs. The second part of the mission was to show our solidarity with the colleagues at the Iranian Red Crescent who are doing an amazing job. We are very proud of their work. They are active in all governorates and have helped more than half a million people. They mobilized 18,000 volunteers who are working days and nights, Ms. Sidani explained.
She then elaborated as the following: “Those are the two objectives of our visit. And definitely we wanted to draw the world’s attention to the humanitarian aspect of the crisis, on how the floods affected the people’s everyday life, how their houses are completely washed away by the floods, how within a few hours they lost all what they have built; their entire life. So, part of it was to show solidarity and empathy with the Iranian Red Crescent, and part of it to assess the needs to design the future plan, and another part of it is to raise the voice of the affected people to the entire world.”
Mission accomplished despite sanctions
The mission is still on, my colleagues are still there doing the assessment in all provinces. We also launched an appeal to collect funds; we need to collect 5 million dollars for the Red Crescent to give for the affected people. We are able to help the Red Crescent; definitely it is not easy but I’m sure we will find a way to give this money to the Iranian Red Crescent, she said.
“The money will be divided into two parts: The first part is to buy relief items to replenish the housewares of the Iranian Red Crescent. They need mattresses and blankets… they have been distributing these things for one month now. So, their warehouses need to be replenished too. The other part of the money will be given cash to the people who are most vulnerable to go and buy whatever they need. I mean with the most vulnerable women, widows, elderly, people with disabilities and special needs,” the lady stressed.
To the International Community
“We call the international community that we need to stand by the side of the human beings in Iran. We have a moral responsibility to help those who have seen all what they built washed away by water. We have the obligation to help the Iranian Red Crescent who are doing an amazing job and are in need of our support,” she concluded.

US Publishes First Map Claiming Golan an ‘Israeli’ Territory, EU Rejects

Emphasizing the grave mistake in further violating the Syrian sovereignty, the map of the claimed ‘Israeli’ occupation lands was recently published.
For the first time since recognizing ‘Israeli’ sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, the US has for the first time published a map showing the Syrian area as part of the ‘Israeli’ occupation entity.
The measure came only three weeks after US President Donald Trump’s recognition of the strategic zone under the Zionist ‘sovereignty.’
The news was announced in a tweet by US Mideast envoy Jason Greenblatt showing the map on Tuesday with the following caption: “Welcome to the newest addition of our international maps system.”
The map shows the 1974 claimed ceasefire line between the ‘Israeli’ occupation entity and Syria as a permanent border, whereas the border with Lebanon continues to be demarcated as the 1949 armistice line.
The map further notes that the West Bank is under the ‘Israeli’ occupation, with its final status to be determined in the so-called ‘peace talks.’
And it notes that while the US recognized the holy city of al-Quds as the ‘capital’ of the Zionist entity in 2017, it does not take a position on the boundaries of the holy city, which is in fact the capital of the state of Palestine.
However, while the map was updated, text attached to the ‘Israel’ entry in the latest CIA world factbook, which included the map, continued to call East al-Quds and the Golan Heights ‘Israeli’ occupied.
Trump’s formal recognition of the Zionist entity’s sovereignty over the Golan sparked widespread international condemnation. The announcement in late March was a major shift in American policy and gave ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a needed political boost ahead of April elections.
The ‘Israeli’ regime occupied the strategic plateau from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War and in 1981 effectively annexed the area, in a move never recognized by the international community which stresses that the Golan Heights to be occupied Syrian territory.
The map was published with the US indicating it may also be on board with the occupation entity’s annexing West Bank settlements.

EU Rejects ‘Israeli’ Claim to Syria’s Golan, Other Occupied Territories

The European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini has once again expressed the 28-nation bloc’s disapproval of the ‘Israeli’ regime’s claim of ‘sovereignty’ to Syria’s Golan Heights and other ‘Israeli’-occupied territories.
Speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament in the French city of Strasbourg on Tuesday, Mogherini stressed that the EU’s position on the status of Golan “has not changed.”
“The EU has a very simple and clear position,” she said. “The EU does not recognize ‘Israeli’ sovereignty over any of the territories occupied by ‘Israel’ since June 1967, in line with international law and with UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 497. And this also applies to the Golan Heights.”
Mogherini also noted that she had already issued a declaration on behalf of all the 28 member states and clarified their stance on the Golan Heights.
She further added that the five EU member states of the UN Security Council: the UK, France, Germany, Belgium and Poland, expressed the bloc’s common position on Golan in a joint stake-out.
The Zionist regime seized the Golan Heights from Syria in the closing stages of its 1967 Six-Day War with Arab countries, which also saw the enemy’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank, East al-Quds and the Gaza Strip.
Tel Aviv unilaterally annexed the Golan Heights in 1981 in a move that was not recognized internationally.
For its part, Syria has repeatedly reaffirmed its sovereignty over the Golan Heights, saying the territory must be completely restored to its control.
On March 25, US President Donald Trump signed a decree recognizing ‘Israeli’ so-called ‘sovereignty’ over the occupied Golan at the start of a meeting with Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.
Trump’s controversial policy shift came over a year after he recognized al-Quds as the so-called ‘capital’ of ‘Israel’ and transferred Washington’s embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied Palestinian city.
