Israel has deployed extra troops in and around al-Quds (Jerusalem), preventing Palestinians from holding a rally in the city on the International Quds Day.
According to Palestinian sources, Israeli troops have fired tear gas at Palestinians when they tried to cross Israeli-controlled checkpoints into East al-Quds.
Palestinians accompanied by international activists had planned to march toward al-Quds from north, west, south and east on Friday to mark Quds Day, which calls for the liberation of Palestine and an end to Israeli occupation.

Thousands demonstrations in Gaza to mark world Quds day
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Thousands of people participated in a demonstration which was called for by Palestinian resistance factions on Friday to mark the world Quds day.
The demonstration was headed by leaders from the different factions and the Palestinian flag as well as the flags of various factions were raised.
The demonstration started from outside the Saraya mosque in Gaza City after the Friday prayers.
Demonstrators held placards and chanted slogans supporting occupied Jerusalem and calling on Palestinian factions to remain committed to the defence and liberation of Jerusalem.
The factions said in a statement that Quds day should be a day to renew endeavours to defend Jerusalem in the face of Israeli arrogance.
