Hamas warns Abbas against accepting Quartet call for resuming negotiations

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Hamas has warned PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO leadership against responding to the international quartet’s call for resuming negotiations with Israel.

It said in a statement on Monday that that the negotiations were nothing more than Israeli maneuvers, adding that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s welcome of the resumption of negotiations aims at returning to the futile talks that did not yield anything positive for the Palestine cause over the past 20 years.

Hamas called instead on Abbas and all Palestinian factions to initiate a comprehensive national dialog to agree on a unified strategy based on constants and rights in face of the Israeli occupation.

Hamas responds to Fatah’s ‘political ignorance’ accusations

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas said it is fully aware of its political suggestions, especially with regard to Palestinian statehood, in response to accusations by Fatah’s media and culture office of the party being “politically ignorant”.

“Hamas is fully aware of what it proposes politically and believes that Palestine from the (Mediterranean) sea to the (Jordan) river is the property of the Palestinian people, without conceding one grain of soil”.

A statement by Hamas pointed out that “a fully sovereign state on ‘67 borders with Jerusalem as its capital and the refugees’ right of return is the joint program between all Palestinian factions, on condition of not recognizing (Israel) regardless of limitations”.

“The real ‘tampering’ with national issues comes from the door of unilateral steps recognizing the (Israeli occupier), coordinating with it, and combating the resistance,” the statement adds, in an apparent reference to the Fatah-backed step of seeking statehood on ‘67 borders without clarity on recognition of Israel or the right of return.

Bardawil calls on Fatah not to use reconciliation for peace talks agenda
[ 02/10/2011 - 09:46 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- Senior Hamas official Salah al-Bardawil said a date has yet to be set for new rounds of reconciliation talks with Fatah, calling on the Fatah party not use the reconciliation for the agenda of peace talks with Israel.

Bardawil called on Fatah to “have the full courage and strong will to fulfill major national entitlements, especially partnership in national decisions, by restructuring the PLO according to agreements in 2005 and 2010 in Cairo, and to stop evading national decisions and using the reconciliation for the political agenda of negotiations” with Israel. This came in remarks to talks by Fatah leaders, such as Azzam al-Ahmed, on setting a date for new rounds of reconciliation talks.

Bardawil added that the first priority is to hold in-depth talks on agreements over a national program based on maintaining national rights that were agreed upon in the document of national reconciliation.

Bardawil also called to talks involving all national factions and forces on how to tackle the occupation issue after the failure of the peace process and as the Israeli occupier and its ally, the Unites States, have revealed real intentions with regards to the Palestinians.
