US historians defend Israel’s educational racism
On Saturday, the American Historical Association (AHA), a pro-Israel organization, rejected for the second consecutive year, a resolution condemning Israel’s restriction on freedom of Palestinian students at its January 7-10 meeting in Atlanta.
This year, the resolution, entitled, Protecting the Right to Education in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, was sponsored by 126 leading American historians, which was rejected by a vote of 111 to 50, according to AHA’s executive director Dr. James Grossman (Jewish).
I bet Stephen M. Flatow, American Zionist Jewish lawyer and propagandist atJNS org must be celebrating the victory in some bar. His daughter, Alisa, was killed by a Palestinian freedom fighter in April 1995. The dude in his blog at the Jerusalem-based Times of Israel, said that in an e-mail to all 126 signatories, he told them that Israeli restrictions on Palestinian students is nothing a compared to Palestinian terrorism meant to ‘wipe Israel off the map’. Furthermore, the ‘poor Jewish soul’ was terrified by the antisemitic responses he received from two of the 126 American historians.
Professor Peter Kirstein (St. Xavier University) in a response said that Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians is one of the great crimes of the modern era. To put salt on Flatow’s old wounds, Kirstein, instead of saying Shalom, signed his email, Salam Alaikum. How rude! On the other hand, Dr. Norman Bennett (Boston University) responded with four curt words: So make a resolution.
The AHA has a history of supporting Jewish academics’ distortion of Muslim history when it involved the occupied Palestine. Last year, Dr. James Grossman refused to publish a paid advertisement for AHA member, Alison Weir’s book,Against Our Better Judgment: The Hidden History of How the US was Used to Create Israel (here).
Zionist Jewish professor Jeffrey Herf (University of Maryland) had slammed the 126 historians for trying to turn AHA into an anti-Israel NGO.
In 1999, a study involving 124 Israel’s elementary school textbooks, conducted by professor Daniel Bar-Tal (Tel Aviv University) found they present the view that Jews are involved in a justified, even humanitarian, war against Arab enemy that refuses to accept and acknowledge the existence and rights of Jews in Israel. Bat-Tal was shocked to learn that Arabs are portrayed as “murderers, rioters, suspicious and backward” in those textbooks.
Read personal experiences of Jewish racism in Israeli education system from three Israeli Jews (here).
The AHA was founded in 1884. The driving force was Jewish professor Herbert Baxter Adams (John Hopkins University), who became the first secretary of AHA. The first president of AHA was Dr. Andrew Dickson White, president of Cornell University.
