For 3 straight days, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies attempted to break-through the Islamist rebel defenses at the village of Kafr Naya; however, the opposition forces were able to fend off the advance for the better part of 2 day before their fortifications finally collapsed.
Kafr Naya is strategically located directly south of the Islamist stronghold of Tal Rifa’at in northern Aleppo; if captured, they will be within striking distance of the Mennagh Military Airport that the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) are attempting to seize at the moment.
However, it is very unlikely the Syrian Armed Forces push further north; instead, they will likely advance east towards the rebel stronghold of Mar’e, where they will circle the remaining Islamist-held villages and cut them off from their main supply route that flows through the city of ‘Azaz.
