Erdogan wins the war of leadership against Bin Salman أردوغان يربح حرب الزعامة على بن سلمان
أكتوبر 24, 2018
Written by Nasser Kandil,
Over the eight years of the Arab Spring, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have rivaled for the Islamic leadership. In the first quarter, Turkey made a progress when Qatar and Al Jazeera Channel were making “revolutions”, forming the governments in Egypt and Tunisia, and leading the war on Syria. The new Ottoman was a project that Washington was betting on to have control on Asia as its bets on the European Union to inherit Europe in the former Soviet Union. In the second quarter, Saudi Arabia preceded through the project of bringing down the project of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Tunisia, the return to the former regime under announced Saudi support, and through betting on Al-Qaeda organization under Saudi funding and sponsorship to win in the war on Syria. In the third quarter, Saudi Arabia and Turkey lost the bet of partnership on the nuclear understanding with Iran as they lost their contrary and common bets on the war on Syria through IISIS organization. The fourth quarter is approaching its end with the progress of the Saudi Crown Prince who put the Saudi money in the basket of the US President Donald Trump; it seemed that he will become the leader of the Islamic world, while Turkey seemed to be in a state of financial, political, and military decline.
By the end of the last quarter, Saudi Arabia loses and Turkey wins the leadership. Iran reserves the role of the peer and the partner, Israel reserves a regional role supported by Washington, while Egypt retreated from the leading. The Saudi Crown Prince seems stuck in the war of Yemen, while the Turkish President gets the Russian bill of insurance to get out of the war of Syria. And while the Saudi Crown Prince seems the title of the crimes against humanity in Yemen, the Turkish President is leading Idlib settlement which spared the region more blood. Saudi Arabia seems the partner of the US failure in “the deal of the century” which was born dead under the title of Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, while Turkey was able to deal rationally with the American-Iranian tension, knowing that the ultimate goal of Washington is the negotiation, and that the parallel leadership to Iran will be for the country which will be able to address it after the end of crises and in settlements. So it kept its sale of oil and gas from Iran despite the US sanctions, While Saudi Arabia did not hide its incitements of sanctions. Iran will not forget the positions. While Saudi Arabia is sitting in the bosom of America, Ankara succeeded in showing its alliance with the NATO and building its best relationships with Russia independently.
The issue of the disappearance of Jamal Al Khashoggi and the possibility of his death puts Saudi Arabia and Turkey face-to –face. Turkey acts rationally, its enhances the international indictment of Saudi Arabia on one hand, and prevents the provocation of a bilateral crisis with Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia seems in a state of confusion after it committed the deadly mistake, it deludes that the media campaign will get it out of the impasse. The western newspapers meet on the impossibility of the trust in the Saudi Crown Prince as a partner who represents the Islamic World in making politics, especially because the Pakistan elections came contrary to the Saudi desires in the light of the status occupied by Pakistan in the future of Afghanistan, and in the light of the status of the Pakistani and Afghani issues in the American considerations and in the Chinese-Iranian relationships.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – AUGUST 28, 2018: US CREATES STRIKE FORCE TO ATTACK SYRIA
The US military is creating a strike force to carry out an attack on government forces in Syria, which is to be justified by a staged chemical attack in the province of Idlib, the Russian military says.
Besides the already noted deployment of the USS The Sullivans to the Persian Gulf and the rebasing of a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber to an air base in Qatar, the missile destroyer USS Ross carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles entered the Mediterranean. Thus, the US could launch at least 84 Tomahawk cruise missiles and 24 AGM-158 joint air to surface stand-off missiles (JASSM) if it were to decide to strike the war-torn country right now.
According to Russian military spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, “these preparations are fresh confirmation of US intentions to use as a pretext a likely simulation of the government forces’ chemical attack, which Hayat Tahrir al-Sham [formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda] militants are plotting with active support from British secret services.”
Reports are appearing that the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) have already started preparing to repel an expected US-led missile strike by deploying additional specialists and air defense systems near the crucial objects of the infrastructure, which they expect may be targeted.
On August 22, US National Security Advisor John Bolton claimed that “if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons, we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time.” This was only one of a series of threats to the Syrian government issued by the US, the UK and France. While all these threats are clearly exploiting the chemical weapons narrative, their main goal is to prevent the defeat of the terrorists in Idlib by delaying the Syrian Army operation.
On August 25, a source close to the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told the Kurdish news outlet Bas News that the US-led coalition began deploying radar stations at its bases in the governorates of al-Hasakah and Aleppo as part of a new plan to increase its control of Syrian airspace. The report pointed out the airbases in Kobani and Rmelan as places where the radars were installed. The US 727 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron is reportedly involved in this effort.
Meanwhile, clashes between the Syrian Army and ISIS continued in the area of al-Safa where at least one vehicle of the terrorist group was destroyed. However, ISIS resistance in the desert is still strong enough to draw Syrian military resources from other important frontlines.
In the Idlib de-esclation zone, militants feeling the support of the so-called international community have increased their preparations for the battle against government forces. An important part of these preparations are arrests and abductions of civilians, public figures and field commanders who would probably support peaceful negotiations with Damascus.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – JANUARY 5, 2018: MILITANTS RETREAT FROM MORE VILLAGES IN SOUTHERN IDLIB
On January 4, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces, backed up by the Russian Aerospace Forces, captured the villages of Rsm al-Abid, al-Fhail, Rubaida, Msheirfeh, al-Qasr al-Abyad, Rabeeah Musa, Haqiyah and Umm Rjaim Hill in southeastern Idlib.
According to pro-government sources, at least 7 militants were killed and a vehicle was destroyed during the SAA advance.
On the same day, the Sham Legion reportedly destroyed a SAA battle tank with an anti-tank guided missile near the town of Atshan in northern Hama.
Now, government troops are developing their advance on the town of Sinjar.
In Eastern Ghouta, the SAA started an operation to lift a siege imposed by Ahrar al-Sham on the Armoured Vehicles Base.
The SAA reportedly captured dozens of buildings in Harasta and killed many Ahrar al-Sham members in the district. Meanwhile, the Syrian Air Force destroyed a militant HQ in the same area.
Jaish al-Islam repelled an SAA attack on Ayn Zuriqa and restored the control over the village. 3 SAA soldiers were reportedly killed there.
On January 4, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces started storming the ISIS-held town of Hajin in the Euphrates Valley. Clashes are ongoing there.
The pro-opposition media outlet Hammurabi’s Justice News reported that the SAA and Russia had rejected a US-led coalition request for an assistance in securing the 55km zone around the US military base at At-Tanf in southeastern Syria.
If this is true, the report confirms that the US-led coalition and its proxies had done almost nothing to combat ISIS in the area controlled by them near At-Tanf and are still not able to do this without an additional assistance.
