Libya: The Second Anniversary of a Bloody Coup

This weekend, marking the second anniversary of the start of protests that would usher in a bloody and prolonged NATO-led coup to overthrow the Libyan Jamahiriya and Muammar Gaddafi, offers many reasons to celebrate for those whose intention was the demolition of Libyan self-determination, African integration, and a domestic system of extensive social welfare and stability. In return, Libyans have won the right to live in fear, as they have won the freedom to be ruled by countless armed despots each engaged in torture, abductions, and persecution of minorities.

In spite of what seems like an unstoppable momentum towards greater strife and social disintegration, romantic imperialists in the West still insist on speaking in the most unwarranted terms of the “street revolution,” that has “brought freedom and hope to millions of people here” (Globe and Mail, 15/2/2013). In the warm glow of fires that consume others, some among us find reason for a warming self-congratulation. Symbolic of the depth of Western respect for Libya’s “new freedom” is this very statement, from the government of Canada itself, warning Canadian travelers: “Do not criticize the country, its leadership or religion. Harsh penalties may be imposed.”
The few remaining pro-”revolution” propagandists in the West are not only unwilling to simply state that what they support is globalized regime change and a new colonizing wave that would make non-Western self-determination and sovereignty principles something to be wrecked and thrown aside, they are equally immune to irony. After all, blessed Benghazi, which was to be “saved” at all costs, saved against all else, by Western military intervention is now the same city from which Western interests flee in order to save themselves (Reuters, 24/1/2013, 31/1/2013, 5/2/2013; The Star, 24/1/2013):
WESTERNERS SHUN BENGHAZI
Few Westerners live in Benghazi, which has borne the brunt of a wave of violence against diplomats and international bodies, including the killing of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and a gun attack on the Italian consul’s car this month.
Britain’s recent call to its nationals to leave immediately due to a “specific and imminent” threat to Westerners highlights the insecurity plaguing Benghazi.
The assault on the U.S. mission, for which no arrests were made, grabbed world attention. But there had already been attacks on British, Red Cross and U.N. properties here….
Randy Robinson, principal of British School Benghazi, said: “One of our staff was carjacked. Our residence last spring was robbed with teachers in a room held at gunpoint as thieves cleaned out the apartments. We have to take care.”
Two years ago the anti-Gaddafi uprising had the strongest support in Benghazi but today a very different mood has emerged.
“Most people here would say they are very unhappy,” a local oil worker said. “Some say they are worse off than before.”
So let’s celebrate the “new Libya,” this “revolution for freedom,” in all of its glory. Let it be an example to others.

Now there is a call from Western media and the usual RAND voices urging NATO to establish a “mission” in Libya (CSM, 15/2/2013). And if foreign occupation, or foreign boots on the ground were allegedly anathema to the Libyan “revolutionaries,” that too changed well before Gaddafi was overthrown, and is being revived at present: military forces from Italy, and once again from Qatar, have landed in Libya, to help it celebrate its “revolution” (RT, 13/2/2013).
The thing about authentic, legitimate revolutions these days is that all of their legitimacy comes from external sources and is dropped from the air in explosive 2,000 pound bursts of authenticity. Real revolutions, it would seem, require foreign guardians and can only survive under the tutelage of colonial powers (Washington Times, 5/2/2013). Beautiful thing then, these revolutions. Sirte, in particular, was rapidly beautified as a result of this revolution:

Once independent, wealthy, and powerfully defiant, today Libyan resources are almost being given away to foreign powers that “mentored” Libya’s revolution. Foreign investors in Libya’s oil sector are being given years of tax exemption, as if they need it; specifically aimed at encouraging Gulf state investors, Libya grants the investor 65% from a project’s value;
“various large scale projects will be given Saudi companies in order to strengthen brotherly ties, remove previous disputes between the two countries, establish a new strategic partnership and benefit from the expertise of Saudi companies. Aarusi also said that all obstacles facing Gulf investors will be overcome…”
and, “last but not least Aarusi said he expected this Saudi company [whose name he refuses to reveal] to be totally in charge of starting up the sugar and cement factories in mid-2013,” whose aim is to export to Europe and Gulf states (Al Arabiya, 4/2/2013). Along with Gaddafi himself, what the “new Libya” buried in that unmarked grave was resource nationalism and a sense of integrity and dignity in the face of foreign vulture capitalists.
Then there is the IMF, in its newly acquired role of dictating to Libya, another reality permitted by the “street revolution” (Arabian Business, 6/2/2013). After all, as the IMF’s Christine Lagarde herself has recently said, the “Arab Spring” must be followed by a “Private Sector Spring” (IMF, 9/1/2013). Libya, formerly a significant actor in international investment, buying up properties and shares of lucrative enterprises across Europe, is now the target of investors (IMF, 9/1/2013).
The IMF knows when it can take advantage of a situation smelling of ripe disaster: “The budget deficit was 27.0 percent of GDP in 2011, compared to a budget surplus of 16.2 percent in 2010. Similarly, the current account surplus narrowed from 19.8 percent of GDP in 2010 to 1.3 percent in 2011″ (IMF, 4/5/2012). Thus the IMF can now instruct Libya to eliminate universal price subsidies, to reduce public sector wages, and to eliminate incentives for individuals to seek employment in the public sector: “the recent surge in the public sector payroll to 1.5 million (80 percent of the labor force) will need to be unwound” (IMF, 4/5/2012).
The IMF has had its sights on Libya from before Gaddafi was overthrown by NATO and NATO’s local neocolonial dependents: days before Gaddafi was murdered, the IMF had a mission on the ground in Libya (IMF, 20/10/2011) and had previously decreed its recognition of the rebel National Transitional Council as the government of Libya, thrashing international law as the Libyan government under Gaddafi still existed (IMF, 10/9/2011). But you won’t find Naomi Klein writing the Libyan chapter of the “shock doctrine” (Gulf News, 26/10/2011)–Naomi Klein was too busy throwing her support behind a Canadian politician, Nathan Cullen, who voted in support of NATO’s intervention in Libya, with little regret. The protection of civilians was paramount, of course, and here is another view of what that protection looked like:

Maximilian C. Forte is a professor of anthropology in Montreal, Canada. He teaches courses in the field of political anthropology dealing with “the new imperialism,” Indigenous resistance movements and philosophies, theories and histories of colonialism, and critiques of the mass media. Max is a founding member of Anthropologists for Justice and Peace. He is the author of “Slouching Towards Sirte: NATO’s War on Libya and Africa” (Baraka Books, 2012).
NATO’s war in Libya was proclaimed as a humanitarian intervention—bombing in the name of “saving lives.” Attempts at diplomacy were stifled. Peace talks were subverted. Libya was barred from representing itself at the UN, where shadowy NGOs and “human rights” groups held full sway in propagating exaggerations, outright falsehoods, and racial fear mongering that served to sanction atrocities and ethnic cleansing in the name of democracy. The rush to war was far speedier than Bush’s invasion of Iraq.
Max Forte has scrutinized the documentary history from before, during, and after the war. He argues that the war on Libya was not about human rights, nor entirely about oil, but about a larger process of militarizing U.S. relations with Africa. The development of the Pentagon’s Africa Command, or AFRICOM, was in fierce competition with Pan-Africanist initiatives such as those spearheaded by Muammar Gaddafi.
Far from the success NATO boasts about or the “high watermark” proclaimed by proponents of the “Responsibility to Protect,” this war has left the once prosperous, independent and defiant Libya in ruin, dependency and prolonged civil strife.

Rafiq Hariri’s Counselor: Late PM Wanted to Protect Resistance, Not Disarm It

Local Editor
18-02-2013 - 13:44 Last updated 18-02-2013

Moustapha NasserLate Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri’s Counselor Moustapha Nasser assured Sunday that the late PM had extended his hand to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah in order to protect the resistance, not to take away its arms.

As Nasser assured that the late PM was about to form an electoral alliance with the resistance before his assassination, he revealed that Saad Hariri proceeded in this agreement, until Fouad Seniora tore the agreement sheet.

Speaking to Al-Jadeed TV Channel, Rafiq Hariri’s Counselor reassured the good relation between the late PM and the resistance, saying that “the relation was based on trust.”

“The base of this trust was that Rafiq Hariri extended his hand to Hasan Nasrallah, in order to protect the resistance, not to disarm it,” Nasser said.

He indicated that “PM (Rafiq) Hariri was about to make an agreement with Sayyed Hasan on the electoral alliance. They were preparing for the elections, that is PM Hariri was martyred on the 14th of February, 2005, and the parliamentary elections were close.”

From here, Nasser stated: “I went to Sheikh Saad Hariri’s House in Riyadh, along with (Hezbollah Secretary General’s Political Assistant) Hussein Khalil, and Minister Ali Hasan Khalil. We met for three days without leaving his house, and we made an agreement to settle the quartet agreement (Hezbollah, Amal Movement, Future Party, and Progressive Socialist Party).”

However, Nasser revealed that “PM Seniora tore the papers in Beirut, and indicated that Saad Hariri didn’t have the authority to approve this agreement.”

Moustapha Nasser’s statements came after Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted, in his latest speech, Martyr Rafiq Hariri’s supportive stance to the resistance and its arms, until a settlement between Palestine and the Zionist entity is reached.

Jews against Cardinal Rodriguez for Pope

Jewish groups have started their smearing campaign against one of the leading contenders, Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga (born 1942) of Honduras as successor to the retiring Pope Benedict XVI. The first shot was fired by no other than the Jewish academic, Dr. Alan Dershowitz, the welknown hate-mongering and truth-twisting anti-Arab, pro-Israel crusader.

Dershowitz has called Cardinal Rodriguez, “an out and out antisemite”.

“The Cardinal has blamed the Jews for the scandal surrounding the sexual misconduct of priests toward young parishioners! He has argued that Jews got even with the Catholic Church for its anti-Israel position by arranging for the media – which they, of course, control, he said – to give disproportionate attention to the Vatican sex scandal. He then compared the Jewish controlled media with Hitler, because they are, protagonists of what I don’t hesitate to define as a persecution against the Church,” wrote Dershowitz.

Dershowitz’s above rant is based on Rodriguez’s 2002 interview with the Italian-Catholic publication “30 Giorni,” – in which he said that Jewish-controlled media was exploiting church sex scandals to divert public attention away from Israeli brutality against Palestinians.

On May 6, 2009, Dershowitz, at the Jewish FrontPage Magazine, blasted Father Angelo Idi, Bishop Richard Williamson, Cardinal Joseph Glemp and Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Meridiaga.

“Anti-Semitism in the Catholic clergy transcends ideological lines. Bishop Williamson and Father Idi are fascists of the hard right. Cardinal Rodriguez is a leftist “liberation” theologist. Cardinal Glemp is just an old fashioned Polish anti-Semite who follows in the footsteps of his predecessors who were also Primates of the Polish Catholic Church,” wrote Dershowitz.

Interestingly, ADL website has claimed that Cardinal Rodriguez apologized for his 2002 comments during a conversation with its director Abraham Foxman.

Dershowitz has claimed that if Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga succeed Pope Benedict XVI, “all of Pope John Paul II’s (born to a Polish Jewish mother) good work in building bridges between the Catholic Church and the Jews would be destroyed. This should not be allowed to happen. The campaign against this bigot must begin now“.

Dershowitz’s beef with Cardinal Rodriguez is that he is against Capitalism and abortion – both establishments being controlled by the Jewish elites. However, Cardinal Rodriguez do has something common with Dershowitz. Both hate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. In 2007, the former president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, demanded an apology from Chavez for calling Cardinal Rodriguez “a parrot and an imperialist clown”. However, later Zelaya joined Chavez’s Latin American economic cartel – a move which brought his downfall via a US-sponsored military coup.

How Tunisia assassination is related to the Syrian crisis

http://www.roadstoiraq.com/

Days before his assassination, UAE newspaper alkhaleej interviewed Tunisian opposition leader Chokri Belaid and this what he answered on the question of:

What is your opinion on the crisis in Syria, is it a popular revolution?

Belaid answered:
What is happening in the Levant is a US-Zionists conspiracy and aggression to hit the regime (in Syria) and impose a new system with an Islamic makeup, add to this some Arab regimes who are used by the US as tools to force the US project (in the region).
Chokri Belaid is the first one who revealed the secret Islamists training camps (funded by Qatar through Tunisian Al-Nahda Party) in Tunisia to send Jihadis to Syria. In this video Belaid talks about the Islamists military camps in Tunisian providing Jihadis to fight in Syria.

Another video shows Islamists issued a fatwa of killing Belaid four days before his assassination.

Prisoner X Leaked Mossad Secrets

Local Editor

A Mossad spy who had died in an Israeli jail in the year of 2010 was arrested by his spymasters after they believed he might have told Australian intelligence about his work with the Israeli intelligence agency.
Prisoner X
Australian media reported on Monday that the spy who held both the Australian and the Israeli nationalities had met officers from Australia's domestic spy agency ASIO and had given details of a number of Mossad operations.

Quoting undefined sources, The Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC), which broke the initial story about Ben Zygier’s, 34, secret arrest and death in prison, said on one of his four trips to Australia he had also applied for a work visa to Italy.

But Mossad became concerned when it
discovered Zygier had contact with the Australian spy agency, the ABC reported, adding it was worried he might pass on information about a major operation planned for Italy.

It said Zygier was one of three Australians who changed their names several times and took out new Australian passports for travel in the Middle East and Europe for their work with Mossad.

It is believed that Zygier was involved in the assassination of Hamas official in Dubai Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

The closely guarded case has raised questions in Australia and the Zionist entity about the suspected use by Mossad of dual Australian-Israeli nationals.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli politicians announced plans to investigate Zygier's death, which a judge has ruled was suicide. Australia's Foreign Minister, Bob Carr, has initiated an inquiry into his department's handling of the case.

Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sought on Sunday to reduce media attention on the case and said he "absolutely trusts" Israel's security services and what he described as the “independent legal monitoring system under which they operated.”

TURKEY FACING MASS PROTESTS AND CIVIL UNREST

Hundreds of protesters clash with police in Turkey amid mass trial

    RT

Police used water cannon and pepper spray to disperse a crowd of demonstrators outside a prison complex on the edge of Istanbul where the mass trial of hundreds of people accused of scheming to topple the elected Turkish government was postponed.

Over a thousand protesters, including many relatives of the accused as well as army supporters, tried to breach the security cordon outside the court compound but were repelled by police, as the trial was again postponed until 11th March. It had already been postponed since December. Some of the demonstrators were injured in the scuffle.

The defendants of the four-year-long trial are accused of trying to start an uprising against the Islamic leaning Justice and Development Party (AKP) government and having ties to an alleged ultranationalist terrorist network known as Ergenekon.

Many of the protesters were supporters of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP). A CHP deputy, Lihan Cihaner called for restraint and said that the police were trying to pit the protesters against the military.

“There are old people here, people who cannot even stand up, they surrounded up with pepper gas and soldiers. They want to pit us against the military; they want to portray us as violent people. Let’s not fall into this trap,” Cihancer said, it was reported by Hurriyet Daily News.

The trial involved top military personnel, army officers, academics, journalists and lawyers, and the verdict is expected within weeks. Pro-government groups have praised the trial as a step towards democracy that will end a tradition of political interference in Turkey.

But critics said the case is based on shaky evidence, and is an act of revenge against the powerful Turkish army, which is the second-biggest in NATO after the US and is openly hostile towards Islamist Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkish army has overthrown or subdued four governments in the past 50 years.

The indictment accused alleged members of Ergenekon of a number of attacks over several decades, including a grenade attack against the center-left newspaper Cumhuriyet’s Istanbul headquarters in 2008, and a shooting at a court in 2006 that killed a judge.

Islamists were initially blamed for both attacks, but prosecutors believe the attacks were actually instigated by the army command with the eventual aim of toppling the AKP government, and restoring nationalist leadership in Turkey.

Prosecutors in Turkey have insisted that Ergenekon are responsible for virtually every act of political violence, and are in control of every terrorist group in Turkey from the past 30 years.

The investigation has lasted more than 5 years and has multiplied into various inquiries, reflecting the deep hostility in Turkey between the army and the AKP government.

Turkey’s military elite see themselves as guardians of the country’s secular constitution. Some fear that moves towards restricting alcohol and lifting the partial ban on women wearing headscarves could be the first steps towards an Islamic state.

In a separate case in the same court last September, more than 300 active and retired army officers and three former generals received prison sentences of up to 20 years for their involvement in a military-led coup plot in 2003 dubbed ‘Sledgehammer.’

ANKARA, (SANA)- Tens of protesters gathered on Saturday in the Turkish capital, Ankara, to express their opposition of the deployment of Patriot missile batteries on the Turkish-Syrian border.
Reuters reported that around 150 Turks gathered in the middle of the Turkish capital to denounce the deployment of the Patriot missiles, chanting slogans which call for “expelling” the US and the NATO from Turkey.
Late January, angry Turkish youths attacked German soldiers who arrived in Turkey to operate the Patriot missile batteries in south Turkey in protest against their deployment by the NATO on the Turkish territories.
Massive protests also went out in Iskenderun and Adana in opposition of the Patriot missile deployment.

Brotherhood Wages War On Egyptian Media

Prominent writer Alaa al-Aswany walks with protesters against Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, as they chant anti-government slogans in Tahrir Square in Cairo, Nov. 27, 2012. (photo by REUTERS/Asmaa Waguih)

    اقرا المقال الأصلي باللغة العربية

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is waging war against media outlets that are beyond the group's control. They are tightening restrictions on freedom of expression in a way that surpasses the oppression during the Mubarak regime. It is as if the media must stay silent about everything perpetrated by the Brotherhood, and everything the media uncovers is considered a conspiracy against the authorities — an attack on the religious doctrine that the party of the "supreme guide" upholds.

Dear readers, imagine what would happen if an Egyptian newspaper published information confirming that one of the Brotherhood's leaders had sexually harassed a young member of the organization. What would be the Brotherhood's reaction? Would they be glad that this crime had been uncovered and demand that the perpetrator be held accountable — or would they feel that even if the crime occurred it would be best to cover things up, to protect the Brotherhood's reputation? Would the Brotherhood thank the journalist that published details of the crime — or would they consider him corrupt, an agent working for the Mubarak regime and world Zionism?

All of these questions came to my mind when I read what happened in the United States this week. Years ago, the American press revealed a scandal involving Catholic priests who were sexually assaulting children that belonged to the church. American newspapers continued to fight to prove the crimes of harassment, until the church apologized and the accused priests went on trial.
The church then established a system to prevent these crimes from recurring. They even appointed a special investigator, Rev. Robert Oliver, to investigate the harassment crimes within the church. Oliver opened his investigation with a press conference, in which he said something along the lines of: The press, which insisted that we face these scandals, did us a service. The press has helped us to face the facts with transparency and sincerity.

His speech reflects psychological and mental maturity, and also indicates a deep understanding of the media's message.

Let's compare this to the way the Brotherhood deals with the media.

Since the Brotherhood’s arrival to power, they have waged a war on media outlets that are beyond their control. Freedom of expression was severely limited during the days of Mubarak, but restrictions on the media under the Brotherhood's rule are even worse than those imposed by Mubarak. Many journalists have been referred to trial on charges of insulting President Mohammed Morsi — a fake, illegal charge that is leveled against anyone who criticizes the president.

Respectable media personalities, such as Dina Abdel Fattah and Wael Ibrashi, were put on trial because they dared to host members of the Black Bloc, which opposes the Brotherhood's rule. This is despite the fact that the whole world knows that to host someone, even if they are doing something illegal, doesn't imply liability on the part of the media figure hosting them. The Brotherhood's war against independent media is violent and relentless.

At Morsi's behest, or at least with his consent, supporters of Hazem Abu Ismail laid siege on the Egyptian Media Production City and assaulted actors and media personalities. They attacked the headquarters of the Al-Wafd newspaper and burned its building, and no one held them accountable. On the second anniversary of the revolution, millions of Egyptians turned out to protest — denouncing the Brotherhood's rule, demanding the overthrow of the invalid constitution and calling for early presidential elections. These protestors were confronted by the police, under the leadership of the new interior minister, who fired live bullets at them, killing 53 martyrs in a single week.
Unlike hundreds of detainees who have been brutally tortured out of the public's eye, we see a vivid example in the tragedy of Hamada Saber, an Egyptian citizen who appeared on television begging police officers for mercy as they dragged him around naked, disgracing his honor and his humanity.

Prime Minister Hesham Kandil then came out to address the nation, and rather than talking about all of these crimes, Kandil surprised us by eagerly emphasizing the importance of natural breastfeeding. He said that it was important for the mother to clean the breast before breastfeeding in order to prevent the child from contracting diarrhea. This astonishing statement humiliated the prime minister in front of the entire world, and it demonstrated that senior officials should undergo serious medical tests to measure their mental abilities before assuming their posts.

The strange thing here is that the Brotherhood-affiliated minister of information demanded that the producer who was in charge of the prime minister's press conference stop his work and referred him to trial. Why? The minister believes that the producer should have stopped the broadcast when the prime minister began making this silly statement. In the Brotherhood-affiliated minister's view, the media isn't obligated to report the facts, but rather should prevent people from seeing anything that could offend the Brotherhood.

The same logic was adopted by the Brotherhood's minister of justice, Ahmed Mekki, when the daily Al-Watan reported that the minister's son had gone to Qatar to work for a large salary. This, of course, creates shared interests between the minister and the state of Qatar, which could lead to an abuse of power. Mekki admitted that his son had gone to work in Qatar, and then proceeded to curse the corrupt media. It's as though, in Mekki's view, the media should cover up anything that could offend him, even if it is true.

It is strange that the Brotherhood and the Salafists dominate many religious channels which are funded by Wahhabis in the Gulf. Sheikhs who appear on these channels do not mainly speak about religion, but rather obscenely curse the Brotherhood's opponents, sometimes even provoking their murder. Nevertheless, the Brotherhood considers the insults and incitement on the part of their religious channels to be normal and acceptable, but they do not tolerate any criticism of themselves in other media outlets.

Is this confusion between media and propaganda the result of ignorance or stupidity on the part of the Brotherhood? I don't think so, since many Brotherhood members received a good education. So why don't they understand that the media does not create facts, but rather reports them — and that the primary task of the media is to reveal to the public all kinds of offenses and crimes?

Here we come to the crux of the problem. We must first acknowledge that it is rare for a human to choose his religion of his own free will. Most of the time we are born into a religion that is predetermined by our parents, and from childhood we learn to believe and practice the religion into which we were born. We need religion in our lives and God created us with religious sentiments. We feel a sense of deep comfort when we practice this religion, regardless of the religion we embrace. Thus, we first embrace religion in our hearts and then think about it in our minds, not vice versa. In other words, we first believe with our emotions, and then harness our minds to search for evidence of faith. Religion, therefore, is an absolute and exclusive emotional conviction.

Believers from any religion always trust that their religion is the only true religion and all others are wrong. Muslims believe that Christianity and Judaism were corrupted, and that adherents of these two faiths are misguided. Meanwhile, Christians believe that the Prophet Muhammad was not a prophet sent from God, while Jews deny both Islam and Christianity and believe that the real Messiah has yet to appear. Thus there is no point in debating religion with someone, since he will defend his beliefs with zeal, regardless of whether that results in self-deception, fallacies and contradictions. Such is the nature of religion, and there is no harm in this, as long as citizens in a democratic state know how to accept other religions, even if they are not convinced of their veracity. The problem occurs when humans practice politics with religious sentiment. At that time, we will inevitably be caught up in what the Brotherhood is doing now.

Brotherhood members do not believe that they hold a point of view. Instead, they believe that they hold the sacred truth, and everyone else has gone astray. Members of the Brotherhood do not think in order to reach an opinion; instead, the truth is provided by their "supreme guide." Thus, they embrace it and defend it. What is most dangerous is that members of the Brotherhood believe that they alone carry the word of God and represent Islam, and thus, in their opinion, everyone who opposes the Brotherhood offends Islam. Try to write any criticism of the Brotherhood's supreme guide on the internet, and you will immediately receive a barrage of insults from someone who claims to be pious. You will also receive advice to refrain from criticism of the supreme guide and repent before God, before you die and are thrown into hell.

The fact that the Brotherhood is equated with Islam prevents them from seeing their mistakes and crimes. Anyone who opposes them is an "enemy of religion," who in their opinion has no rights whatsoever. Perhaps the assault carried out by Brotherhood members against protesters in front of the presidential palace is the best evidence of this.

The Brotherhood members who assaulted girls with complete vileness and brutality, and who tortured protesters in a repugnant manner, are simultaneously faithful believers, eager to perform sincere acts of worship. Their conscience will keep them awake if they miss the dawn prayer, but they can torture others without the slightest sense of guilt. This is because they represent Islam, and anyone who opposes them hates Islam. These haters of Islam are either infidels, promiscuous adulterers who have gone astray or foreign intelligence agents who are fighting Islam.

In short, Brotherhood opponents are enemies of Islam, and there is no room to talk about their rights. There is nothing wrong with beating them, dragging them, or even killing them if necessary. All of these things are considered to be crimes when committed against the Brotherhood, but if the Brotherhood commits these same crimes against the enemies of Islam, they consider it a kind of jihad and an obligation.

The Brotherhood will never admit to all of the crimes they committed, which are recorded on video and audio. They will use all of their energy to deny the truth, regardless of how obvious the facts may be. When you ask a Brotherhood member to recognize the crimes of the supreme guide, it is as though you are asking a pious man to admit to contradictions in his religion.

Morsi, who began as an elected president, has obstructed the law and stomped on it with his feet. He has imposed upon Egypt a constitution that does not express the will of Egyptians. He is responsible for the torture and killing of protesters, just as Mubarak was responsible for the same crimes and then tried and thrown in jail. All of these facts are as clear as the sun that can be seen in the east and the west. There is no hope, however, that the Brotherhood will see these facts or admit to them. To them, acknowledging Morsi's crimes would hurt their religious doctrine, which is based on the fact that everything the Brotherhood does represents Islam itself. The battle in Egypt is no longer between the opposition and the government, it is between all of Egypt and the Brotherhood.

    Democracy is the solution.

Israel, Hamas negotiating truce agreements: Report

On November 21, 2012, I posted a comment (THE PALESTINIAN SPRING: A New OSLO UNDER COOKING IN CAIRO) confirming what General Amin Htait said in his Inteview with Dam Press,

"I am afraid that there will be a new Oslo, a new PA, and security coordination on the horizon giving the bread and taking the land and identity of the Palestinians. The hope of foiling the plan, and continueing the confrontation depends on the honorable resistance fighters in Gaza who were not fooled by the lie of Arab spring." General Amin Htait

In his Visit to Gaza says before the Israeli Pillar of cloud, the Emir of Qatar told Hamas:
"Your resistance camp isn’t resisting, and your peace camp isn’t negotiating, so why don’t you make up?"
Oslo 2 is still under cooking under abother name: Long Truce. Israel and Hamas negotiating truce agreements, and to stop resistance resisting Egypt floods Gaza lifeline tunnels.

Israel and Gaza-rulers Hamas have been holding indirect talks on easing the blockade on the Palestinian enclave, Channel 2 television reported Friday, under the terms of a truce deal reached last year.

The report said the talks have been going on for “a number of weeks,” and involved Israeli army officers. Both sides speak only via Egyptian mediators, it said.

The report on the privately owned channel noted that these negotiations were part of the agreements reached between Israel and Gaza after the deadly week-long conflict in and around the Gaza Strip last November.

Talks included opening the Rafah crossing on Gaza’s border with Egypt to enable the transfer of construction materials from Qatar, as well as enabling agricultural produce from Gaza to enter Israel.

A Hamas spokesman on Friday said that in the past two weeks there have been no talks, but in the past there has been contact between their representatives and the Egyptians on implementing the truce.

In November, senior Hamas official Mussa Abu Marzuk said an Israeli delegation was due in Cairo for indirect talks with Hamas on easing the Gaza blockade.

Israel has restricted the import of goods into Gaza since 2006, when Palestinian militants captured an Israeli soldier in a cross-border raid.

The blockade was tightened a year later after Hamas seized Gaza from its secular Fatah rivals in fighting that erupted after the Islamist group won legislative elections.

In December, Israel announced it was to begin allowing materials for private construction into Gaza for the first time since 2007.

Chavez Returns to Venezuela, Says to Continue Treatment There

    Local Editor

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez returned to his country after spending more than two months in Cuba for cancer surgery and treatment.
    Chavez
The Latin American leader announced his surprise homecoming via twitter, saying: "We have arrived again to the Venezuelan motherland.”

"Thank you God. Thank you my beloved people. We will continue my treatment here,” Chavez wrote on his account on Twitter.

Chavez also expressed his gratitude to Cuba and its leaders for their assistance in his medical treatment.

"Thank you Fidel, Raul and everybody in Cuba," he wrote, referring to Cuban leaders Fidel and Raul Castro. "And thank you, Venezuela, for so much love."

"I am holding on to Jesus Christ and trust my doctors and nurses," the president said. "As always, see you in victory. We will live and we will win," he added.

His son-in-law and Science and Technology Minister, Jorge Arreaza, said Chavez was taken from airport Carlos Avarela Military Hospital in Caracas where he will continue his medical treatment.
Chavez, 58, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2011. After surgery and treatment he declared himself free of the disease and went on to win another term in elections last October.

But he suffered a relapse, and after the latest surgery on December 11 in Havana he was still too sick to come back to Venezuela for his scheduled inauguration on January 10.

The inauguration has been postponed indefinitely, and Vice President Nicolas Maduro has essentially been running Venezuela in Chavez's absence.

Washington in the Syrian crisis between two bitter choices

The Palestinian Struggle : Many Idols And No God

    426172_428575730555620_1994613508_n[1]

The Palestinian cause is definitely at a turning point . What will happen next we don’t know . With the fall of HAMAS in the sectarian set up has fallen the last bastion of the Palestinian Resistance if bastion there were . During more than sixty years the cause has remained stagnant if not worse. And even if the PLO thinks that it had succeeded in preserving the Palestinian identity , what about the other goals? What about Palestine? What about the land ? Even this identity is a double edged sword , it has separated the cause from its Arab belonging and has not retrieved the land .

For sixty years there was no serious attempt at liberating Palestine . The intentions might have been there in the resolves of some Palestinian leaders but these resolves never really matched the cause nor were made to materialize . Where are we from the liberation of Vietnam and the unification of the country in just a decade or so ? What we have witnessed regarding the liberation of Palestine was rather the proliferation of Palestinian organizations that will not engage seriously in liberation to the point that it became difficult to keep up with the increasing number of movements that will sprout over night, and will fall short of the goal like the ones that preceded them .

From the beginning there was no serious attempt at embracing the situation nor were there serious attempts at embracing armed struggle as a solution and becoming committed to it as a sole means for liberation . The Palestinian organizations engaged half heartedly in the armed struggle, one operation here and another there , an ambush here and an ambush there, but there was no continuity and no progress. The money was provided of course and the funds were available and the wages were paid; all this money was spent under the label of Resistance and for its sake but there was no Resistance.

The funds coming from the gulf countries and from Saudi Arabia must have required this version of armed Resistance that was not one. Until today this has not changed . Those who opposed the armed Resistance then- among the Arab establishment- are still opposing it now and plotting and conspiring against it . They are the same people acting for the same reasons that say that the Palestinian Resistance shall not turn into a real one. Some organizations like the FPLP tried to make a break through by operating in western countries to awaken the world to the Palestinian cause .Many operations in foreign countries were thus conducted, but not with much success on the ground or significant repercussions on the cause itself.

For more than sixty years, from Palestine to Jordan , and from there to Lebanon, and from Lebanon to Tunisia and then from Tunisia to the last station- Ramallah - the same scenario was repeated all over again. From one place to another and no where to go and no place to stay. Because the Palestinians did not have much to rely on and nothing to back them from which they can draw strength, they had to present concession after concession. From Madrid to camp David to Oslo nothing was achieved.

Another breach was opened by the first and second Intifada and by the emergence of HAMAS . The release of Gaza from the Zionist clutches was another achievement ; a modest achievement in comparison of what was required, but a step in which Palestinians could invest . But Gaza was to remain besieged and subject to warfare and even genocide. Some say that the whole thing was operated by Ariel Sharon as an experimental field to see what will be the outcome of any Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian land.

The Arabs –in general -did not fare better than Palestinians in this endeavor . Not only they did not adopt the Palestinian cause as their own throwing it on the Palestinians alone, but they also engaged in shameful agreements and peace talks that ended in normalization and recognition to the advantage of the enemy, to whom they surrendered fully, forsaking Palestine and Palestinians .

Palestine seemed thus an irresolvable issue and the Palestinians seemed to have adjusted to this hard reality .There was no hope in sight . The Palestinians still offered the greatest of sacrifices as they always did but these sacrifices were not properly invested , they were rather wasted because of the lack of adequate leadership that could channel the efforts and focus on the goal of liberation. All this, not to forget the corruption that pervaded the multiple organizations and their affiliations to Arab systems- mainly the Gulf corrupt regimes - and the Israeli infiltration of the Palestinian organizations that made some of them work for Israel directly - or indirectly - and coordinate with the Shin Bet or the Mossad and have the CIA train Palestinian security people and learn methods of torture and extortion from them .

All this, in addition to the constant harassment and bullying and violations and incarceration and daily massacres and killings, contributed in creating the adequate atmosphere where the Palestinians will be conditioned to the fact that they were vulnerable and totally exposed, and that Palestine cannot be retrieved nor Palestinian rights restored .

All this was a policy designed by the Israelis and carried on by the Palestinian authority and other organizations- including HAMAS- and by Arab corrupt regimes to induce to Palestinians and Arabs the condition of total defeat and the invincibility of their Israeli enemy .The Palestinians and Arabs resigned to this condition finding in it some peace and stability after all.
In the middle of all this darkness that pervaded the whole Palestinian and Arab scenery there shone the light of the Lebanese Resistance , the possibility of real liberation , of dreams becoming true , of dignity recovered ,of the land retrieved and victory achieved. This happened here in south Lebanon in the eyes of all . In less than two decades, the impossible became possible : the land was liberated and the Israelis evicted and the Lebanese villagers back to their homes and towns and the Israelis defeated in two consecutive wars .

Achieved by the Lebanese Resistance, backed by Iran and Syria at the high cost of many martyrs who offered their lives to make this dream possible to all , this victory was offered to the Palestinians . But the Palestinians could not overcome the conditioning they have been subject to. There was difficulty for them in admitting the fact that Israel - not only could be vanquished - but was utterly defeated at the hands of the Lebanese Freedom Fighters; in admitting that Israel was weak , weaker than a spider’s web , that the invincible Israeli army was nothing but a bunch of cowards fleeing the battlefield , that the Palestinians have been told lies for decades, that their leaders cheated them, that Palestine could have been retrieved- long time ago- by true commitment and dedication, with modest means, by self reliance and God’s help.

That is all what was needed , no negotiations and no agreements and no compromise or concessions , just steadfastness in the struggle . All this the Palestinians could not accept, that everything could have been otherwise, had their leaders been straightforward and honest. For this reason the Palestinians could not accept the offering of Hizbullah which is precious lesson in the art of resisting and winning . The Palestinians could not adjust to this new reality.. Not only this, but they turned against those who offered it to them . Sectarianism or no , the truth is that the Palestinians are turning against those who told them and showed to them the reality that they don’t want to see and the truth they don’t want to hear . Let those be Shi’as as they happen to be , the problem is in fact somewhere else that is inherent to the history of the Palestinian struggle and in the capacity of the Israelis to put them in this condition.
