The truth about Israel

The key point, often overlooked, is that in 1948, Resolution 181 of the U.N. General Assembly didn't just call for the creation of the single state of Israel from the British mandate of Palestine. In fact, it recommended dividing Palestine into two separate countries--one predominately Arab, the other Jewish--to be joined by an economic union. Why would Israel and the US perpetrate this myth? Are the Jews of the Diasporia more worthy refugees than the Palestinians? Is this a matter of prejudice? Has one of the results of the Holocaust undermine the moral fabric of Jews fleeing Hitler that they identified with the aggressor and became like him: any means necessary to justify not just survival, but any risk to it?

Gideon Levy: Bush was Israel,s Friend who is an Enemy of Israel

Gideon Levy / Let's hope Obama won't be a 'friend of Israel'

The march of parochialism started right away. The tears of excitement invoked by U.S. president-elect Barack Obama's wonderful speech had not yet dried, and back here people were already delving into the only real question they could think to ask: Is this good or bad for Israel? One after another, the analysts and politicians got up - all of them representing one single school of thought, of course and began prophesizing. They spoke with the caution that the situation required, gritting their teeth as though their mouths were full of pebbles, trying to soothe all the fears and concerns.
They searched and found signs in Obama: The promising appointment of the Israeli ex-patriots' son, whose father belonged to the Irgun, and maybe also Dennis Ross and Dan Kurtzer and Martin Indyk, who may, God willing, be included in the new administration.

But in the background, a dark cloud hovered above. Careful, danger. The black man, who had associated with Palestinian expats, who speaks of human rights, who favors diplomacy over war, who even wants to engage Iran in dialogue, who will allocate more funding for America's social needs than to weapons exports. He may not be the sort of "friend of Israel" that we have come to love in Washington, the kind of friend we have grown accustomed to.

What's the panic all about? The truth needs to be said: At the base of all of these fears is the angst that this president will push Israel to end the occupation and move toward peace.

Well, maybe Obama will not be a "friend of Israel." May the great change he is promising not omit his country's Mideast policy. May Obama herald not only a new America, but also a new Middle East.

When we say that someone is a "friend of Israel" we mean a friend of the occupation, a believer in Israel's self-armament, a fan of its language of strength and a supporter of all its regional delusions.
When we say someone is a "friend of Israel" we mean someone who will give Israel a carte blanche for any violent adventure it desires, for rejecting peace and for building in the territories.

Israel's greatest friend in the White House, outgoing U.S. President George W. Bush, was someone like that. There is no other country where this man, who brought a string of disasters down upon his own nation and the world, would receive any degree of prestige and respect. Only in Israel.

Only in Israel does the prime minister place George Bush's portrait in his den, in his private home. Only in Israel does the prime minister travel to visit him in the White House.

That's because Bush was a friend of Israel. Israel's greatest friend. Bush let it embark on an unnecessary war in Lebanon. He did not prevent the construction of a single outpost. He may have encouraged Israel, in secret, to bomb Iran. He did not pressure Israel to move ahead with peace talks, he even held up negotiations with Syria, and he did not reproach Israel for its policy of targeted killings.

Bush also supported the siege on Gaza and participated in the boycott of Hamas, which was elected in a democratic election initiated by his own administration.
That's just how we like U.S. presidents. They give us a green light to do as we please. They fund, equip and arm us, and sit tight. Such is the classic friend of Israel, a friend who is an enemy,
and enemy of peace and an enemy to Israel.

Let us now hope that Obama will not be like them.
That he will reveal himself to be a true friend of Israel.

That he will put his whole weight behind a deep American involvement in the Middle East, that he will try to solve the Iranian issue through negotiation - the only effective means. That he will help end the siege on Gaza and the boycott of Hamas, that he will push Israel and Syria to make peace, that he will spur Israel and the Palestinians to reach a settlement.

We should hope Obama will help Israel help itself, because that is how friendship is measured. That he will criticize its policy when he must, because that, too, is a test of true friendship. Let him use his clout to end the occupation and dismantle the settlement project.

Let him remember that human and civil rights also apply to the Palestinians, not only to black Americans. And apropos world peace, he needs to start with peace in the Middle East, home to the most dangerous of conflicts, which has been threatening the world for a century now, and is feeding international terrorism. A true friend of Israel needs to remember that Israel may be "the only democracy in the Middle East," but not in its own backyard. That next to Sderot, which he visited, is Gaza. That "common values" must not include a cruel occupation. That friendship does not mean blind and automatic support. Let him speak with Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, as often as he can and with whomever is willing to talk. And let him do it before the next war, not after it. Let him remember that he has the power to do all that. Changing the Middle East was in the power of each and every U.S. president, who could have pressured Israel and put an end to the occupation.
Most of them kept their hands off as if it were a hot potato, all in the name of a wonderful friendship. So bring us an American president who is not another dreadful "friend of Israel," an Obama who won't blindly follow the positions of the Jewish lobby and the Israeli government. You did promise change, did you not? http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1035415.html

Book refuting Jewish myths on Israel’s bestseller list

Book refuting Jewish myths on Israel’s bestseller list

Jonathan Cook, Foreign Correspondent

Last Updated: October 06. 2008 10:38PM UAE / October 6. 2008 6:38PM GMT TEL AVIV // No one is more surprised than Shlomo Sand that his latest academic work has spent 19 weeks on Israel’s bestseller list – and that success has come to the history professor despite his book challenging Israel’s biggest taboo.

Dr Sand argues that the idea of a Jewish nation – whose need for a safe haven was originally used to justify the founding of the state of Israel – is a myth invented little more than a century ago.

An expert on European history at Tel Aviv University, Dr Sand drew on extensive historical and archaeological research to support not only this claim but several more – all equally controversial.

In addition, he argues that the Jews were never exiled from the Holy Land, that most of today’s Jews have no historical connection to the land called Israel and that the only political solution to the country’s conflict with the Palestinians is to abolish the Jewish state.

The success of When and How Was the Jewish People Invented? looks likely to be repeated around the world. A French edition, launched last month, is selling so fast that it has already had three print runs.

Translations are under way into a dozen languages, including Arabic and English. But he predicted a rough ride from the pro-Israel lobby when the book is launched by his English publisher, Verso, in the United States next year. In contrast, he said Israelis had been, if not exactly supportive, at least curious about his argument. Tom Segev, one of the country’s leading journalists, has called the book “fascinating and challenging”.

Surprisingly, Dr Sand said, most of his academic colleagues in Israel have shied away from tackling his arguments. One exception is Israel Bartal, a professor of Jewish history at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Writing in Haaretz, the Israeli daily newspaper, Dr Bartal made little effort to rebut Dr Sand’s claims. Paradoxically, he dedicated much of his article instead to defending his profession. He suggested that Israeli historians were not as ignorant about the invented nature of Jewish history as Dr Sand contends.

The idea for the book had come to him many years ago, Dr Sand said, but he waited until recently to start working on it. “I cannot claim to be particularly courageous in publishing the book now,” he said. “I waited until I was a full professor. There is a price to be paid in Israeli academia for expressing views of this sort.”

Dr Sand’s main argument is that until little more than a century ago, Jews thought of themselves as Jews only because they shared a common religion. At the turn of the 20th century, he said, Zionist Jews challenged this idea and started creating a national history by inventing the idea that Jews existed as a people separate from their religion.

Equally, the modern Zionist idea of Jews being obligated to return from exile to the Promised Land was entirely alien to Judaism, he added.

“Zionism changed the idea of Jerusalem. Before, the holy places were seen as places to long for, not to be lived in. For 2,000 years Jews stayed away from Jerusalem not because they could not return but because their religion forbade them from returning until the messiah came.”

The biggest surprise during his research came when he started looking at the archaeological evidence from the biblical era.

“I was not raised as a Zionist, but like all other Israelis I took it for granted that the Jews were a people living in Judea and that they were exiled by the Romans in 70AD.

“But once I started looking at the evidence, I discovered that the kingdoms of David and Solomon were legends. “Similarly with the exile. In fact, you can’t explain Jewishness without exile. But when I started to look for history books describing the events of this exile, I couldn’t find any. Not one.

“That was because the Romans did not exile people. In fact, Jews in Palestine were overwhelming peasants and all the evidence suggests they stayed on their lands.”

Instead, he believes an alternative theory is more plausible: the exile was a myth promoted by early Christians to recruit Jews to the new faith. “Christians wanted later generations of Jews to believe that their ancestors had been exiled as a punishment from God.”

So if there was no exile, how is it that so many Jews ended up scattered around the globe before the modern state of Israel began encouraging them to “return”?

Dr Sand said that, in the centuries immediately preceding and following the Christian era, Judaism was a proselytising religion, desperate for converts. “This is mentioned in the Roman literature of the time.”

Jews travelled to other regions seeking converts, particularly in Yemen and among the Berber tribes of North Africa. Centuries later, the people of the Khazar kingdom in what is today south Russia, would convert en masse to Judaism, becoming the genesis of the Ashkenazi Jews of central and eastern Europe.

Dr Sand pointed to the strange state of denial in which most Israelis live, noting that papers offered extensive coverage recently to the discovery of the capital of the Khazar kingdom next to the Caspian Sea. Ynet, the website of Israel’s most popular newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, headlined the story: “Russian archaeologists find long-lost Jewish capital.” And yet none of the papers, he added, had considered the significance of this find to standard accounts of Jewish history.

One further question is prompted by Dr Sand’s account, as he himself notes: if most Jews never left the Holy Land, what became of them?

“It is not taught in Israeli schools but most of the early Zionist leaders, including David Ben Gurion [Israel’s first prime minister], believed that the Palestinians were the descendants of the area’s original Jews. They believed the Jews had later converted to Islam.”

Dr Sand attributed his colleagues’ reticence to engage with him to an implicit acknowledgement by many that the whole edifice of “Jewish history” taught at Israeli universities is built like a house of cards.

The problem with the teaching of history in Israel, Dr Sand said, dates to a decision in the 1930s to separate history into two disciplines: general history and Jewish history. Jewish history was assumed to need its own field of study because Jewish experience was considered unique.

“There’s no Jewish department of politics or sociology at the universities. Only history is taught in this way, and it has allowed specialists in Jewish history to live in a very insular and conservative world where they are not touched by modern developments in historical research.

“I’ve been criticised in Israel for writing about Jewish history when European history is my specialty. But a book like this needed a historian who is familiar with the standard concepts of historical inquiry used by academia in the rest of the world.”

Nazi behavior from those that supposedly suffered from it.

I have many doubt about the "holocaust" particularly since I'm aware that the Jews themselves were responsible for far greater acts of genocide than the holocaust even if official jewish figures were to be believed.
But what brings even more doubt to my mind are the acts carried out nearly on a daily basis by Jews which can only be described as "nazi like behavior". Here are just a few recent examples from the last few days.

Apartheid Orchestra Protested

Apartheid Orchestra Protested

For an hour this afternoon eighteen seventeen human rights activists demonstrated, once again, that Israeli apartheid and the Egyptian and Israeli stranglehold on Gaza will not go completely unprotested in Ann Arbor. They bore witness that the Palestinian call for broad boycotts against Israel will not go completely unheeded.

Others, valuing more highly the good opinion of polite society, joined the racist, the uninformed, and the indifferent and did something else. The sin of Sodom comes to mind:

This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. Ezekiel 16:49
As they walked up the steps to the Hill Auditorium, many of the concert-goers were offered a leaflet and greeted with this rap:

Please boycott racist orchestras.
God gave you a conscience--time to use it.
Children are starving in Gaza.
A few were moved, most were not. In addition to the occasional responses of "Fuck you" and "Go to hell" from the cultured, well-heeled patrons of the arts entering Hill Auditorium, a man identifying himself as a reporter from a Detroit newspaper had something to say. The man, who was not protesting, felt empowered to complain about a sign that read "Zionists are Racist Nazis" or words to that effect.

Oblivious to the very real parallels, not to mention documented collaboration, between Zionists and National Socialists, this sensitive soul was concerned that these words were 'harmful' to the cause. You are confused, my friend, no person who ever truly cared about justice or truth abandoned the struggle just because of someone else's offensive words. The people who do quit in such cases are those who are in it for some other, probably selfish, reason and not because they care about oppressed people.

I mean, for example, can you imagine a truly committed abolitionist abandoning the cause because of the words of Frederick Douglass in his great speech, "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?" He said:

What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelly to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciations of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade, and solemnity, are, to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy - a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices, more shocking and bloody, than are the people of these United States, at this very hour. ... You profess to believe "that, of one blood, God made all nations of men to dwell on the face of all the earth," and hath commanded all men, everywhere to love one another; yet you notoriously hate, (and glory in your hatred), all men whose skins are not colored like your own.
Douglass spoke well earlier in the same speech when he said:

At a time like this, scorching irony, not convincing argument, is needed. O! had I the ability, and could I reach the nation's ear, I would, to-day, pour out a fiery stream of biting ridicule, blasting reproach, withering sarcasm, and stern rebuke. For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. The feeling of the nation must be quickened; the conscience of the nation must be roused; the propriety of the nation must be startled; the hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed; and its crimes against God and man must be proclaimed and denounced.
One is reminded, too, of Dr. King's observation in his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail":

First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods ... " Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.
The principle holds true today.

Strategic defense or strategic shift?

Meet the Lebanese Press:

Strategic defense or strategic shift?
Hicham Safieddine, Electronic Lebanon, 18 November 2008

Civil strife usually ends when there is truth and reconciliation. In Lebanon, it subsides when a truce poses as reconciliation. Top Lebanese leaders are doting over each other, calling for a new pact of political rivalry that is confined to the arena of democratic and peaceful confrontation. Meetings between top March 14 and March 8 officials have calmed fears of further clashes on the streets. With the notable exception of Christian leaders, all sectarian heads are trying to unite their ranks in the run up to next year's parliamentary elections. The combination of the Bush Administration's exit from the White House and an incoming United States president unlikely to take aggressive measures on the foreign front in the first few months, has forced the pro-US parties to reconsider their options in terms of relations with Syria. It is too early to say whether Lebanon is entering yet another stage of a stronger alliance with Syria but that is the direction in which things have been going lately. Pre-election developments in Lebanon, an upset of Syrian relations with the West or another Arab-Israeli war could tip the balance back. For the time being, questions of border security with Syria, dealing with Salafi groups in Lebanon, and devising a strategic defense policy as an entry point to disarming Hizballah are the hot topics of the press.

Khaled Saghieh of Al-Akhbar tries to sum up the two projects of a new Lebanon that were developing following Rafiq Hariri's assassination and what is to become of them. The same newspaper published the draft of a defense strategy as envisioned by Free Patriotic Movement's leader Michel Aoun. Aoun sums up the dangers facing Lebanon as those coming from "terrorist" elements inside Lebanon, presence of armed Lebanese and Palestinian militias, and Israel. The excerpt below presents his view on how to combat the external Israeli threat. Aoun's paper elicited several responses in the press. Meanwhile, Emile Khoury of An-Nahar offers a cynical take and ties such a strategy with the future of Syria's approach to the Arab Israeli conflict.

Al-Akhbar, 6 November 2008, Khaled Saghiyyeh, "Impeded Birth":

Following the assassination of Prime Minister Hariri, and the exit of the Syrian army form Lebanon, it seemed that a new Lebanon was emerging in the horizon. A Lebanon that is free of Syrian control, and ready to perform the perfect role required for the American project in the region: Lebanon would forfeit its resistance, and the axis of opposition to this American project. The attempt for such a transformation failed. The birth of new Lebanon was foiled. Crossing from one camp to the other was neither easy in practical terms nor legitimate in public terms.

After the 2006 July war, and the failure of the Israeli invasion in destroying Hizballah's apparatus, it seemed that yet another Lebanon was emerging. A Lebanon triumphant over foreign interventions. Lebanon the "great power" in the region as Hizballah's secretary general said in the victory rally. Lebanon in which the resistance and her allies possess the upper hand and the ability to affect the course of local events. The attempt also failed. The birth of this new Lebanon fumbled. It became clear that defeating Israel does not neutralize the effect of the intifada of independence [the popular movement that led to the withdrawal of Syrian forces] and does not overcome the sectarian balance of power.

Both parties did not acknowledge the failure of the birth of their new Lebanon. The first party [the Hariri camp] overestimated foreign support, while the second party over-flexed its muscle. The Doha accord kicked in to declare the suspension of political life until parliamentary elections are held. But the provisions of the accord itself and the electoral law it endorsed has in effect suspended political life indefinitely. And polls have begun to indicate that the outcome of these elections will not lead to anything more than a slim victory to one of the camps, which means the continuation of the current polarization and the status quo.
Al-Akhbar, 7 November 2008, Aoun's vision of a defense strategy:

There is no doubt that any military force in the world has its weak and strong points. And Israel, given the type of its weaponry and firepower, possesses an immense destructive power. And the state of its air force allows her to reach deep into the territory of surrounding states. Her weakness though resides in the limited numbers of her land forces and the readiness of these forces. As such, she is unable to fight a resisting community. And if she succeeds in some limited operations, she remains incapable of control and maintaining an occupation.

The other weak point is the big fallout in Israeli society in the face of human loss in war, and her trials in Lebanon were never successful. It follows that deterrence is based on forming two forces, a conventional army and a resistance force. Both forces need to be capable of inflicting loss that the enemy is unable to sustain through:

a) Fighting with small units capable of hiding and protecting themselves and that do not constitute an easy target for air strikes and
b) Creating a modern air force.

This type of combat requires new training for the army's fighting units that would enable it to perform security operations under ordinary formations but to disperse during fighting and resort to guerilla style fighting.

As for resistance forces, it is composed from the population. As such, these forces need to deploy across Lebanon, for the enemy can conduct an airdrop in any part of the country. And we cannot speculate on what will happen in a future war based on what happened in July, for our coastline is accessible and our airspace is exposed and so we need to plan for all possibilities.

And it is natural that the conditions and qualifications for someone to join these two forces be determined by a specialized committee. Members of these forces must possess certain physical, mental, disciplinary, and technical characteristics allowing them to endure hardship.
An-Nahar, 14 November 2008, Emile Khoury, "To avoid disagreement over a defense strategy: Does Syria support a military confrontation or peace negotiations?":

The nature of security cooperation between Lebanon and Syria needs to be outlined and its goals explained. Do the security measures at the border include intercepting smuggling of men and goods only or weapons and elements described as terrorist to both countries in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701? And are these measures taken so as to eventually implement the truce agreed upon in the past between Lebanon and Israel pending a just and lasting peace? For if [Syrian] President Asad is bent on implementing Resolution 1701 ... then the issue of a defense strategy becomes subject to a bilateral cooperation between the two countries if not an Arab-based one.

If Syria is inclined to face Israel militarily to liberate still-occupied territory, Lebanon will back it in this confrontation and then one can speak of laying down a common defense strategy. But if Syria was opposed to such a confrontation and preferred to conduct indirect peace negotiations with Israel sponsored by Turkey, Lebanon has to join such talk once negotiations become direct. Then, there will be no need for a strategic defense strategy. For if these negotiations culminate in a peace agreement, adopting a defense strategy will violate UN Resolution 1701 and lead to further confrontation with Israel and the continued flow of weapons from Iran and elsewhere through Syria to Hizballah in Lebanon.

'Israel tasked with spying on Americans'

Contibuted by Lucia

The US entrusted Israeli intelligence services with spying on Americans after the 9/11 attacks, an intelligence journalist has revealed.

Sun, 16 Nov 2008 18:58:35 GMT

Bamford says concerns over the relationship between Israeli spy agencies and the FBI 'greatly increased following disclosure of the Bush administration's warrantless eavesdropping operations'.

The US entrusted Israeli intelligence services with spying on Americans after the 9/11 attacks, an intelligence journalist has revealed.

In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, the White House launched a massive program to spy on millions of Americans, best-selling author James Bamford has claimed in his latest book, The Shadow Factory: The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America.

Bamford is a celebrated journalist who writes about US intelligence agencies.

According to the author, the National Security Agency (NSA) was tasked with monitoring 'billions of private hard-line, cell, and wireless telephone conversations; text, e-mail and instant Internet messages; Web-page histories, faxes, and computer hard drives'.

The two largest American telecom companies AT&T and Verizon collaborated with the NSA, assisting the federal government in eavesdropping on their customers.

Bamford maintains that the bugging of the entire two networks, 'carrying billions of American communications every day', were handed to two companies founded in Israel.

Verint and Narus, the two Israeli corporations, are 'super intrusive -- conducting mass surveillance on both international and domestic communications 24/7,' and sifting traffic at 'key Internet gateways' around the US, Bamford claims.

"The greatest potential beneficiaries of this marriage between the Israeli eavesdroppers and America's increasingly centralized telecom grid are Israel's intelligence agencies," Bamford writes.

According to Electronic Intifada, there has yet to be a congressional oversight of the Israeli intelligence-linked firms operating in the heart of the US security establishment.

The PA is cheating the Palestinian people

The PA is cheating the Palestinian people

With fanfare, fireworks, military parades and a lot of rhetorical overindulgence, the American-backed Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of the so-called ?Independence Day.?

In 1988, the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who, too, had a hard time distinguishing reality from fiction, declared Palestine ?an independent state,? although he knew well, as did the rest of the world, that a country thoroughly occupied and savaged by a Nazi-like foreign power can?t be truly independent, let alone sovereign, until it is fully liberated from the Jaws and claws of the foreign occupiers.

That was the same Arafat who in the mid 1990s toured the West Bank using his Egyptian-donated Russian-made helicopter, declaring one city after the other ?liberated, liberated, liberated.? (The two helicopters, dubbed by Israel as the Palestinian air-force were later destroyed by the Israeli air force).

The fact that two or four Israeli warplanes were always escorting Arafat?s two helicopters spoke volumes. However, many people preferred to believe Arafat than their own eyes.

I remember I attended a peace conference in Vienna in 1995, and after I spoke for 20 minutes on the situation in occupied Palestine, I was asked by several delegates from Europe and the US why I was so pessimistic, with one Austrian official saying ?why are you so negative? You have been given a state, you have a government, a President, and parliament and armed forces. You have all the trappings of a state, what more do you want? Do you want to destroy Israel??

I was not surprised by the shocking detachment from reality which the Austrian official?s remarks reflected. He was probably voicing the prevailing perceptions about the Oslo Accords in most of Europe and North America, namely that the Palestinians were finally having a state, or at least as quasi state which soon would evolve into a fully-fledged state.

Faced with the scandalously erroneous and ignorant remarks, I retorted, almost in a defensive-reflexive manner, telling the Austrian official ?well, if this is the view of people who are supposed to be well-informed, then what am I supposed to expect from ordinary Europeans and Americans who know next to nothing about the situation IN Palestine??

Of course, the Europeans, including many of their politicians, couldn?t be completely blamed for their ignorance, even willful ignorance, of the real situation in Palestine, although the issue was never purely a matter of ignorance. After all, they can?t be more Palestinian than the Palestinians themselves.

But the stupid and theatrical behavior of the Palestinian leadership then, as it is now, which devoted disproportionate attention to the empty trappings and symbols of statehood while utterly ignoring or paying scant attention to the hard and harsh realities on the ground, namely the deepening Israeli occupation, gave the world, including many in the Arab and Muslim world, a false impression that the Palestinians were finally achieving liberation and dependence.

It was this atmosphere of false euphoria, fraudulence and deception that enabled professional liars such as Israel?s current President Shimon Peres to claim through every media outlet that the Palestinian problem was virtually over and that Israel had nothing to do with internal problems ?because 99% of Palestinians are under Arafat?s authority, not Israel?s.?

Of course, the pathological liar wouldn?t tell his interlocutress and viewers that Arafat himself was 100% under Israeli control and that he and his authority couldn?t even breath without an Israeli permission.

Now, Arafat?s unglamorous successor, Mahmoud Abbas, and the army of sycophants, acolytes, hangers-on and money-grabbing careerists around him are repeating the same scandalous theatrics by giving the impression that the PA, which lives on conditional handouts from the West and its pliant Arab Sheikhdoms and is solely dependent for its very survival on the ?goodwill? and ?good mood? of the Nazi-like Israeli regime, is a genuine state and that only a few minor problems needed to be fixed before the State of Palestine becomes a reality.

Abbas is actually enforcing these decidedly false impressions even more than Arafat did.

It is now a routine feature watching Abbas, Qurei?, et al, hugging, embracing and kissing with Israeli leaders, the very people who meet with them in the morning and in the afternoon issue orders to seize more Palestinian land, demolish more Palestinian homes, and round up more Palestinians to swell the prisoner population of Israeli detention and concentration camp.

Still more scandalous is this pornographic collaboration between Abbas?s American-trained and American-financed Palestinian ?forces? and the Israeli occupation army, which takes the form of the former being fully at the latter?s beck and call.

Indeed, in light of this manifestly promiscuous relationship between the PA and Israel, one would wonder if and how the world could relate to Abbas?s recurrent half-hearted complaints about Israeli crimes and intransigence.

Well, if Israel doesn?t want peace, as Abbas rightly said in his ?independence-day speech,? Saturday, 15 November, then let him tell us for God?s sake why he has been holding all these meetings and sessions and cordial encounters with Israeli leaders?

Is he deliberately deceiving the Palestinians? Is he addicted to fruitless and futile negotiations which experience has showed will lead nowhere?

Or is he suggesting that we Palestinians stay put on this track of futility and treachery until Israel devour whatever has remained intact of our country?

As a frustrated Palestinian, I would like to ask Mr. Abbas the following question: how many more meetings, ?peace conferences? and ?international forums? will it take to discover that Israel is not interested in peace?

Or are we supposed to keep up the ?process? going irrespective of what Israel is doing on the ground?

Abbas and his Fatah organization ought to know that the bulk of Palestinians are not willing to let them go on and on and on like this as we watch our motherland being stolen, one hill after the other, on orchard after the other, and one home after the other, while the orphans of Oslo are busy swelling their pockets and fattening their bank accounts, and, above all, persecuting and torturing the honorable men and women of Palestine on Israel?s behalf.

Abbas claims that there won?t be peace and stability in the Middle East until Israel withdraws to the 1967-borders.

Well, if so, why did he and his visibly stupid negotiators agree to allow Israel to retain the so-called ?Jewish neighborhood? in East Jerusalem in the context of any prospective final status settlement? Aren?t these illegal colonies built on occupied territory in violation of international law, as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled a few years ago?

Moreover, is Abbas willing to trade Jerusalem, the first kiblah of Islam, the home of al Masjidul Aqsa and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, for a few snake-infested sand dunes in the Negev desert?

Besides, does Abbas really think that any Israeli government will be willing to give up all these colonies, especially in East Jerusalem, and go back to the armistice line of 1967?

Why would the Israelis do it under existing circumstances, especially with PA military and political leaders telling Israeli leaders in broad daylight that ?we are friends and allies and have one common enemy which is Hamas?

And I don?t think they ever will as long as the current Palestinian leadership continues to behave and act as beggar and collaborator.

Because beggars can?t be choosers and collaborators are no better than dogs.

Islam is not the Enemy

Islam is not the Enemy
By Dr. Elias AklehImage

The Western power elite, especially American (military industries, security agencies, financial institutions, and oil corporations) always need a public enemy in order to maintain their grip on political and economical systems to manipulate nations and to generate huge profits. They always create new enemies by stressing differences between groups of people and inciting hatred among them.

With the collapse of communist Soviet Union, enemy number one for the last few generations, the power elite lost a lot of “businesses” in the forms of military manufacturing and security services. One example of this is the economy of the state of California, which suffered greatly because it is based mainly on military industry. A new enemy was needed to re-boost these industries. The attacks of 911 were orchestrated and Al-Qaeda was accused of the act. The needed new public enemy was thus created.

Al-Qaeda, the base in Arabic, was established, armed, and financed by Texan CIA operative Charlie Wilson to fight the Soviet troops in Afghanistan. After liberating Afghanistan the Talibans started destroying the opium crops and replacing them with wheat. Wall Street used to rake huge financial profits from Afghanistan’s opium money laundering. Taliban leaders were brought to Washington to be persuaded to halt the destruction of opium industry. But they rejected all Wall Street proposals making themselves an enemy of international bankers and financial institutions. After the invasion of Afghanistan, war lords were established and the opium industry was quadrupled.

To keep the military industry cranking there was a need to widen the conflict. The Western power elites and their mouthpiece media took the fact that Al-Qaeda leaders were mainly Islamic and associated the terror accusation to Islam. Thus Islamic terror and Islamic terrorist groups became new terminologies used to brainwash the populace. This relatively small Islamic Al-Qaeda group was inflated to become the new super global power, richer and more powerful than the rest of the global super powers. It was portrayed as a global threat used to justify any government’s oppression of dissenting groups, who could be labeled as terrorists.

Political clergy joined in the act of demonizing Islam. Pastors of televangelist Zionist Christians and Christians United for Israel such as John Hagee, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Michael Savage and Rod Parsley routinely attack Islam and the Prophet Mohammad during their ceremonies. They describe Prophet Mohammad as a terrorist, a heathen, follower of Satan, and womanizer among others. Islam is described as a false religion, anti-Christ, terrorist, undemocratic, violent, suppressive, satanic, and culture of death. The term Islamofascism was created and equated with Communism and Fascism. The “mad Muslim Mullahs” have become the ghoul of the West. First there was Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini, then Libyan Moamar Ghaddafi, then Mohammad Adid of Somalia, then Osama Bin Laden, and then Iraqi Saddam Hussein. Lately we have Iranian Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Lebanese Hezbollah, and Palestinian Hamas.

Those American so-called Christian pastors are aggressively inciting hatred and enmity against Muslims with the attitude of “Our way is God’s way and if you don’t accept our beliefs then we will kill you in the name of God.” They are advocating the murder of all “heathen” Muslims, the destruction of their cities, the nuking of their holy places, and the “conversion of all Muslims to Christianity to become human beings” like what happened in Spain in 1492, after the 800 years of Reconquista wars, when defeated Muslims and Jews of Spain were ordered to convert to Christianity or face persecution.

Such pastors are poisoning the psyche of their naïve followers with warring themes such as “America as a bastion against Islam”, “America’s historical conflict with Islam”, “Cleansing the Holy Land from all Muslim heathens”, “Crusading holy wars”, and “Islam: the greatest religious enemy of our (American) civilization”. It seems that these pastors do not prescribe to a God of love and peace, but to a god of war and destruction. Apparently, theirs is a criminal god with a religion of death.

What makes them more dangerous is that many politicians in the American administration, and even the defeated presidential candidate John McCain supported by his Republican party, proclaim these pastors as “spiritual guides”, “great leaders of America”, and “moral compass of America”.

On top of all those, we see the Zionist Israeli terrorist state claiming that the most ruthless enemy of the world is Islam, calling the religion “enemy of civilization”, “ oppressor of women”, “hater of peace”, “opponent to democracy”, “terrorist Jihadis”, and “foe of humanity”. In an attempt to cover their terror and to justify ethnic cleansing of Palestinian Arabs, the Israelis claim that they are the victims of global Islamic terror, and are the spearhead of morality and evolution, who are courageously fighting this Islamic ghoul to save the rest of the civilized world.

Unfortunately the average American person of the street in general, and even many who consider themselves educated and with critical thinking, who are panting heavily in their attempt to acquire the loaf of bread for their families, who worry about paying the bills; taxes, mortgages, insurance and many others, do not have the interest nor enough energy to seek the truth. The majority of them collapse on the couch at the end of the day, passively watching their TV sets, and taking in the meta-messages sent to their unconscious by puppet politicians and false clergy. Through repetition lies become realities.

Albert Einstein once said: “Condemnation without investigation is the highest ignorance.” So let us do a little investigation. Let us refer to the holy texts(1) themselves rather than just listen to the misleading, hate-evoking, warmongering and poisoning words of the political clergy, special interest politicians, and their media mouth piece.

Islam is a wide spread religion in many different cultures and traditions. Islam is a religion and not a culture. Almost one third of the world populations are Muslims. There are hundreds of thousands of volumes written about Islam. Reading some of these volumes we discover that the Islamic prophet was a humble and an ascetic man. He did not live in luxurious homes, rather in a very humble one like any other citizen. He did not own gold and silver rather he was poor. He did not wear silky and colorful clothes, but had only one rough garment. He did not stuff his stomach with fatty rich meals, but mostly rice and milk. Those, who accuse Prophet Muhammad of being a womanizer, should read the Old Testament to learn about womanizing prophets; Abraham and Moses had multiple wives, Jacob married two sisters Rachel and Leah and their maids Bilhah and Zilbah. Solomon had a hundred wives (that is a real womanizer).

Mohammad was not incestuous unlike Abraham, who married his sister, or Lot, who impregnated his two daughters, or Judah who slept with his daughter-in-law Tamar. He did not cause the death of a person to steal his wife like David, who, although having many wives, caused the death of Uriah the Hittite to steal his wife Bathsheba. One needs only to read the Old Testament to learn of more similar stories. It should be known that Mohammad’s wives were given to him in political marriages as a sign of tribal loyalty.

Preaching monotheism and acknowledging all previous prophets starting from Adam down to Jesus, Mohammad attracted the attention of Jewish Arabs (many Arabs adopted Judaism) of the city of Yathrib in Hijaz (present day Saudi Arabia). After listening to his Islamic teachings the Jews of Yathrib considered Mohammad their awaiting Messiah. They invited him to live in their city and changed its name to Al Medina Al Munawwarah (the enlightened city). Losing political power and revenue the Jewish Pharisees plotted with Mohammad’s enemies against him, but were defeated. The treachery of the Jews was documented in Islamic literature, and has been falsely misinterpreted as Islamic hatred to Judaism rather than to its political Rabbis.

Islam, in its core, is a peaceful religion. The word “Islam” means total surrender to God’s will. Sufism, a life dedication to meditation and praying to recognize God, is the ultimate form of Islam. Muslims believe in all the prophets starting with Adam down to Noah, to Abraham, to Moses, and all the way to Jesus Christ and talk about all of them venerably unlike the Old Testament that describe many of these prophets as womanizers, incestuous, murderers, and warmongers. One needs only read the Qur’an to realize this fact. Every chapter (Surat) in the Qur’an talks about these prophets and some are dedicated to their names such as Surat Ibrahim, Surat Joseph, Surat Meriam, Surat Prophets and many others. Muslims consider Islamic creed as an extension of the creeds of all the previous pre-Islamic prophets. Islam recognizes the “People of the Book” and their scriptures (Surat Imran 3, Surat Al-Ma’idah 47-51, Surat An’am 154 and many others). Qur’an states that their God and our God is the same (Surat Spider 46).

Contrary to the claims of politicians and political clergy, Muslims do not strive to forcibly convert people to their religion. Islam respects, and calls all Muslims to respect, true Jews and Christians calling them “people of the book”. Islam states “no coercion in religion”. Only through dialogue religion can be spread (Surat Spider 46). Islam considers true Jewish God, Christian God and Muslim God as one and same God. On the other hand we read in Judaic Hilchoth Melachim, c.viii, 4 that Talmud commands the Jews to convert the heathens to Judaism by the power of the sword and to murder all who refuse and to take away their children.

Unlike political Judaism that describes Virgin Mary as a whore (Sanhedrin 106a and Shabbath 104b) Islam reveres Jesus’ mother, Virgin Mary, and dedicates a long chapter in the Qur’an with her name; Surat Miriam. Unlike Judaic false Rabbis, who hate and insult Jesus Christ, Islam recognizes Him as a divine messenger (Surat Imran 45, Surat Women 170). Muslims venerate Jesus and call him “The Word of God”, “Logos”, “Messiah the prophet” and a “Messenger of God” (Surat Imran 35, Surat Al-Ma’idah 47,49 & 78, Surat Cow 87 among many others). False Rabbis, especially Orthodox Jewish Hasidic Lubavitch group, insult Christ and describe him as a sorcerer, sexually immoral, a dangerous prophet, and call for his murder according to their god’s commands. (www.noahide.com/yeshu.htm ).

In the Judaic Avodat Kochavim, Maimonides stated that “It is a mitzvah (religious duty) to murder Jesus and his followers, and all non-Jews”. Moses Maimonide, a rabbinic law codifier and philosopher in Jewish history, wrote the “Mishneh Torah”, considered the Second Torah, in which he taught that Christians and Muslims should be murdered when Talmudists are dominant over gentiles (Avodat Kochavim, chapter 10). Avodah Zarah 17a states that Christians are allied with hell, and Christianity is worse than incest. Going to prostitutes is the same as becoming a Christian. Shabbat 116a states “The books of Christians may not be saved from a fire, but must be burnt in their place”. The Israelis followed this commandment to the letter when they burned hundreds of Bibles in Occupied Palestine on March 23rd, 1980, and again on May 20th, 2008 (Assoc. Press 5/20/2008 & Israeli Maariv newspaper). Jewish Israeli hatred of Jesus is expressed in the Jewish anti-Gospel “Toledoth Eshu”, revived and reprinted by the biggest Israeli tabloid Yedioth Aharnoth in 2000. Jews referred to Jesus by the name of “Yeshu” meaning “Perish his name”.

Palestinian sources reported on Sunday that Israeli soldiers and policemen kidnapped 10 Palestinian children in Al Bustan neighborhood near the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem and took them to an unknown destination.

The sources added that the detained children were no more than 13 years old, and that they were abducted for allegedly obstructing the work of municipality workers who were preparing for demolishing more Palestinian homes in the neighborhood.

The Jerusalem Municipality is preparing to demolish nearly 97 homes in the neighborhood as it is planning to build gardens for “the Jewish temple” which Israel claims it exists under the Al Aqsa mosque.

Israeli forces have no right, under international law, to arrest Palestinians who are living uder Israeli military occupation.

Ten days ago, the residents of the neighborhood clashed with soldiers as they brought bulldozers to demolish the homes and the army managed to demolish one home.

Olmert The Liar

"The responsibility for the shattering of the calm and the creation of a situation of prolonged and repeated violence in the south of the country is entirely on Hamas and the other terror groups in Gaza," Olmert told ministers.
Israel accuses Hamas of 'shattering' Gaza truce

The truce was broken by Israel twelve days ago. As the Guardian reported on November 5:

A four-month ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza was in jeopardy today after Israeli troops killed six Hamas gunmen in a raid into the territory.

Hamas responded by firing a wave of rockets into southern Israel, although no one was injured.

Since then Palestinian rockets have lightly injured two Israelis, the Israeli military has killed 17 people in Gaza and blocked any transfer of oil and food into the strip. The sole power-plant in Gaza can not operate and people go hungry.

Olmert is again lying to justify the slow suffocating of the people in the big concentration camp that Gaza has become.

False Semites

False Semites

Adolf Hitler swallowed whole the silly theory that there exists a Jewish race, propounded by men such as the German Wilhelm Marr and the Hungarian Theodor Herzl. This led him and his followers to work closely with the Zionists to 'persuade' all the Jews in Germany to leave, after having been robbed of all their possessions, to go to join in the 'settlement' of Palestine then under British Empire mandate from the League of Nations. The British Empire took Palestine as part of its claim to have a right to control its (the words used were "zones of influence") 'share' (the southern part) of what had been, under the Ottoman Empire, greater Syria, while France took the northern part and divided it into the present-day Syria and the Lebanon.
Over the years, this close working relationship between the Nazis and the Zionists grew stronger, as the British authorities made pathetic attempts to limit the flow of Ashkenazim into Palestine, and one of the men involved was the late Adolf Eichmann, whom the Zionists later decided to kill off to prevent him from telling the full tale of how the Zionists came to fight the British in Palestine at a time when they were fighting the Nazi war machine elsewhere. Mr Eichmann must have expected to be able to live in peace, and have been shocked to have his former allies turn on him, and put him to death after a Soviet-style show trial.

Facts can spoil a true story, and no-one is more aware of this than the Zionists, so they have since pretended that their efforts to hamper the British war effort never occurred.

There were three leading Zionist terrorist organisations, Irgun Zvai Leumi, the Stern Gang and Haganah, and since 1948 the two former were absorbed by Haganah to form the Zionist armed forces which now terrorise the whole of the Near and Middle East.
It is interesting to note that the father of Mr Obama's choice as right-hand man, Mr Rahm Emanuel, was a member of the Irgun Zvai Leumi, and thus fought on behalf of the Nazis against the British administration in Palestine.

What Marr, Herzl and Hitler overlooked was that their use of the expression "anti-semite" was false. Around the Mediterranean and also towards the east, Jewish missionaries had been converting people of any and every race to Judaism, and there were strong and lively Jewish communities in all the major seaports of Europe and North Africa as well as eastwards and southwards on the route to India. This was before the birth of Jesus, and had nothing to do with any dispersion of people within the Roman Empire.

Much later, other Jewish missionaries went northwards and managed to convert certain tribes in the Caucasus, who found this highly convenient to avoid coming under the rule either of the supposedly Christian Byzantine Empire or of the Muslim Caliphate. These people used Hebrew as their liturgical language, and they created the Talmud unknown for centuries to other Jews, but their Aryan language added many words from the Hebrew to become what we now know as Yiddish. These Yiddish-speaking people migrated north and west to settle in the lands which stretch from what is now Russia to the Germanic speaking territories now known as the Netherlands, the Moselle, Alsace and Switzerland. They thus had no historic biological link with the inhabitants of the Holy Land as known to the twelve tribes and once forming the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, but they had the same respect for Jerusalem as the Holy City as did the Sephardic Jews from the south and west, and also Christians and Muslim.
In order to make their claim to invade the Holy Land seem respectable, the Zionists decided to change from using the Aryan Yiddish as their major means of communication in favour of a modernised version of the semitic Hebrew, which was invented almost from scratch, but used ancient Hebrew as its foundation.

The Zionists have managed to persuade large numbers of people, particularly in the United States, that they are the biological heirs to the ancient people of Israel, and that they are therefore entitled to effect ethnic cleansing of the genuine descendants of the ancient people who have converted either to Christianity or Islam, and to replace them with Ashkenazim brought in from all around the world. This cruel aim has had unfailing support from successive régimes ruling the United States, and now appears to benefit from the fullest backing from Mr Obama, who does not seem to care that innocent men, women and children are suffering persecution intended to make them abandon their right to live in their own historic homes and lands. I personally refuse to accept that laws which discriminate against persons on the grounds of their supposed religion or race can be considered 'democratic' in the word's modern sense, and the oppressed, as in the Holy Land, have no chance to live in freedom. These false semites should be forced by the "International Community" (whatever that may be) to comply with every United Nations Resolution to give back their rights to the Palestinian people.

United Nations Food Aid Intended for 750,000 Palestinian Refugees in Gaza Blocked by Israel

Trucks intended to be ship supply by UNRWA, ( the UN relief agency for Palestinian refugees)are loaded with milk, sesame oil, canned and frozen meat, were denied to cross the border. UNRWA announced in the beginning of the week that its food program would be forced to shut down if the shipment of food was not delivered by Friday.

In a pledge Wednesday,to the world,Palestine Free Voice urged the International community to start serious actions on all levels, to force pressure on the Israeli government to open up the borders for shipment of food and fuel.Cease the embargo to prevent the pain and suffering caused in ill will,to spread and permeate throughout Gaza Strip, and culminate in a humanitarian and environmental catastrophe.

Thanks to many Internet based news-media outlets and UN observers, whom noted the urgency in our pledge acting accordingly and swiftly, to bring an end to the suffering, aid to the starving Palestinians in Gaza Strip. However, the aid arrived in the twelfth hour, and it seems, Israelis attempts are evil ambitions to thwart international aid shipments to enter the Gaza Strip, the border crossings are now closed again.

PALESTINE IS STILL THE ISSUE

PALESTINE IS STILL THE ISSUE
DESCRIPTION

John Pilger returns to the Occupied Territories of the West Bank and Gaza where, in 1974, he filmed a documentary with the same title about the same issues, a nation of people - the Palestinians - forced off their land and later subjected to a military occupation by Israel. This was an occupation condemned by the United Nations and almost every country in the world, including Britain. But Israel is backed by a very powerful friend, the United States. Pilger finds that 25 years later the basic problems remain unchanged: a desperate, destitute people whose homeland is illegally occupied by the world's fourth biggest military power. What has changed is that the Palestinians have fought back. Stateless and humiliated for so long, they've risen up against Israel's huge military machine, although they themselves have no arms, no tanks, no American planes and gun ships or missiles.

He hears extraordinary stories from Palestinians, though most of his interviews are with Israelis whose voices are seldom heard, including the remarkable witness of a man who lost his daughter in a suicide bombing. But for Palestinians, the overriding, routine terror, day after day, has been the ruthless control of almost every aspect of their lives, as if they live in an open prison. This film is about the Palestinians and a group of courageous Israelis united in the oldest human struggle - to be free.
