Rape Trial for Israeli General

On Thursday, Israel Occupation Force (IOF) military advocate-general indicted one of Israel’s most decorated officer, Brigadier General Ofek Buchris, 48, for rape, sodomy and sexual assault against two female subordinates between 2010 and 2012. The indictment against Buchris was filed following a lengthy inquiry by chief MAG prosecutor Sharon Afek for repeatedly raping his female subordinates.
Bucharis who was considered to be IOF next chief of general staff until now, commanded Israeli regiments in Lebanon and the so-called Operation Defensive Shieldin the west Bank in 2002 in which he was wounded by PLO fighters. The names of Buchris’ victims are not allowed to be released by Israeli media under a military GAG order.
IOF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot was Buchris’s commander for many years and has repeatedly pushed for his promotion. But the seriousness of the complainant’s allegations left the army no choice: Buchris was suspended immediately and his slated appointment put on hold.
Bucharis, allegedly a religious Jew, is father of six children. He has denied the accusations. His trial will be heard next month in a military court.
Rape and sexual harassment is quite common in the so-called world’s most moral army. Last year, four Jew soldiers were arrested for gang-raping a female soldier at an air-force base.
Last year, Israelis were surprised to learn that one of their war heroes, Gen. Rehavam “Gandhi” Ze’evi was a serial rapist. The Jewish Gandhi raped and sexually molested dozens of his female subordinates. Ze’evi, several women testified, forced himself on dozens of them, if not more, mostly girls under his command. Some were brutally raped.
IOF chief rabbi, Colonel Eyal Qarim has claimed in the past that Jewish Shari’ah Halachah allows Jew soldiers to rape their non-Jewish victims. However, in response to Bucharis indictment Karim said he supports recruitment of Jewish women in the army but doesn’t condone rape.
Qarim is not wrong. According to Jewish law, adultery is defined as a sexual act between a married Jew and wife of another Jew. Sex between a Jew male and unmarried female Jew is quite kosher and not an act of adultery.
On April 21, 2016, former Jewish terrorist and Israeli Knesset member Uri Avnery wrote:
The attitude to rape has radically changed in Israel over the years. Among men in the 1950s and 60s, it was considered more as a joke. “When she says No, what does she mean?” asked a famous song. The general view among men was that girls really “want it”, but had to pretend otherwise for appearance’s sake. It was generally accepted in the army, that officers had the right to have sex with their female subordinates. It was one of the privileges of rank.”
This is the story of a beautiful Israeli hotel on the African seashore. It is the story of an Israeli owned holiday resort in Mombassa, Kenya, designed and built solely for the Israeli tourist market. It is also the story of total abuse of the local impoverished population. It is a tale of humiliation, cruelty and continuous daily rape of struggling African women. It is the usual horrendous story of Israelis inflicting pain on others but at times it is very funny in spite of itself. For instance, once a week, when the Israeli groups were departing in busses on their way back to the Mombassa terminal, the local crew ordered the African staff to chase their departing busses with tears in their eyes and to scream ‘please don’t leave us, we love you, please come back’. This bizarre instruction was given to the local crew by the Israeli hotel management as part of the package deal, the last image to bring home of an unforgettable holiday. I allow myself to assume that the Israeli managers detected some clear yearning for love amongst their Israeli clients. One may ask what may stand in the core of such a longing for declarations of love. Considering the clear fact that those Israeli tourists were mainly engaged in turning Mombassa into Hell on earth, why do they really need to feel beloved after all that? I wonder why the Israeli offender insists upon being loved by his victim?,” Israeli newspaperMaariv(here).
