Israel concerned by anti-Semitic attacks in Europe

I don't quite understand what their problem is and why they are wailing about it. Any Jew in Europe that supports genocide is as much a non-combatant as a woman or child sitting in Gaza.

Israel concerned by anti-Semitic attacks in Europe

The Associated Press
Monday, January 12, 2009
JERUSALEM: Israel expressed its concern Monday over a rise in anti-Semitic attacks in Europe since Israel began its military offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza two weeks ago.

Since the operation began Dec. 27, several attacks have been reported against Jews and synagogues in France, Sweden and Britain. In the latest, two firebombs were hurled at a synagogue in a suburb north of Paris. No injuries were reported.

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said her government is calling on world leaders to condemn all forms of incitement and hatred and to hold to account those responsible.

"We have received with great concern and revulsion many reports of physical, moral, verbal and other manifestations of anti-Semitic attacks towards Jews and Israeli citizens in many parts of the world," Livni said in a written statement.

She cited cases of physical assault, the desecration of cemeteries and synagogues and the use of anti-Semitic incitement in pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

"The government of Israel therefore calls upon the leaders of the world to condemn, suppress and curb any and all forms of such incitement and hate, and to further hold accountable those responsible for their actions," Livni said.

Livni said that whatever one's opinion of Israel's military operation, it should not be used to legitimize hate and anti-Semitic incitement.

Would they/Could they remain silent today?

Comment:

Michael, I don't buy their concern about the future of Jews in Eupope.. Their real cocern is how to force them to move to Israel. The Founder of Zionism said it since the begining: Let us creat the hate, but let us be the Victim. Howerver, Jews who don't support genocide all over the world should be concerned about their future, and if they are they should act.

UP and Fatima, the radio over here has just broadcasted (news 19h) that Hamas had accepted a one year long truce, mediated by Turkey and Syria [and the stupid prozio-Moratinos boasting abt his role to "achieve" it by convincing Turkey and Syria -he says- ]

Have you got any news pls? The pic has nothing yet, not even the arabic site. So I'm anxious to know if this is true, and if so, which are its terms.

I am consumed with all this tragedy. Please let me know.

I've checked out El Pais and it is also reporting it

http://www.elpais.com/articulo/internacional/Hamas/acepta/propuesta/egipcia/alto/fuego/condiciones/elpepuint/20090114elpepuint_6/Tes

It says that Taha will brief the press at Cairo by 19h -Cairo time-

I find El Pais' article somehow contradictory and obscure. So I better wait for some Hamas leader to explain it. It does not seem to me that the agreement had been reached.

TVnews 21h (prime time) informed that truce not yet accepted. It was Bardawil who briefed the press, and he reiterated the resistance's (Hamas and the rest of the Alliance of Palestinian forces) conditions for truce, that is, one weak cease-fire to let food and aid go in, and the zios go out. Then a year-long truce would be considered, provided that there are international guarantees.

Then the zios came out and arrogantly insisted in their own -untenable- conditions. Reportedly tomorrow zio-Gilad comes to
Cairo to work that out.

UP, check out the Pal Chronicle, there is a *beautiful open letter to Chavez from the Palestinian government, written by Ahmed Yousef.
