Today, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the U.S. Congress to lobby against the President of the United States. It was obvious that Netanyahu was not impressed with yesterday’s meeting with President Obama. President Obama insisted yesterday that there must be a halt to Settlement activity and no more stalling in the Peace process. Obama also reiterated his administrations policy endorsing a two state solution.
As Netanyahu entered the Capital House , He was greeted as the Messiah by members of Congress and Senate. Every one went out of his way to shake his hand, after all, it is very kosher nowdays to shake the hand of the new Godfather of AIPAC.
As I have said many times in earlier posts AIPAC has a stranglehold on Members of Congress and Senate.
Netanyahu is trying to win support from members of Congress to oppose a two state solution, and to rally support for a war against Iran (as if the disastrous Iraq war wasn’t enough), and of course the reassurance of a blank check to continue the oppression against the Palestinian people ( AIPAC is doing on full speed on the greatest spin job of the Century).
Mr. Netanyahu as his predecessors did, is once again trying to portray himself as a man of peace, who is desperately seeking to immediately to start Peace negotiations with the Palestinians and his desire for Palestinians to govern themselves (his vision of them governing themselves is something similar to Indian reservations in the U.S.)
Who is he fooling ?
Just take a look at who he has appointed as Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman who proposed the idea of ‘Nuking Gaza’ during the Gaza War, and the expulsion of all the Israeli Arabs from Israel.
Lets hope he hasn’t brought the Swine Flue. Stay tuned for More to come on Netanyahu’s Visit!
