They added that 20 settlers attacked an area near the village and started fires in olive fields in particular.

Agriculture ministry: Israeli settlers pursue agenda to destroy Palestine flora

GAZA, (PIC)-- The ministry of agriculture in Gaza has underlined that the activities of settlers assisted by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) to destroy agricultural fields in the West Bank on daily basis are programmed.

In a press release on Tuesday the ministry said that it registered over 20 assaults on farmers and their property in West Bank cities and villages in the first week of July, underscoring that bulldozing land and burning vast areas of wheat crops, olive trees and other harvests have taken place in Nablus, Al-Khalil, and Jenin.

IOF soldiers and Jewish settlers work round-the-clock to expand settlements at the expense of citizens' lands, to harass farmers and shepherds and to poison livestock and water wells, the ministry said.

It charged that IOF soldiers carried out such serious offenses against Palestinian citizens, especially farmers, to destroy their livelihood, eventually forcing them to leave.

The ministry called on the citizens, popular and community organizations to redouble efforts to stand up to the Israeli occupation and settlers' aggression, highlighting that intervention of Red Cross and human rights organizations is needed to bridle Israeli attacks against Palestinians and their possession.
