CAIRO, (PIC)-- Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Abul Ghait has said that the Palestinian reconciliation was a must, describing the current situation as unacceptable.

Abul Ghait in a statement to the Egyptian semi-official daily Al-Ahram published on Saturday said that Cairo would continue to support the Palestinian reconciliation.

He specified three elements upon which his government would continue to support Palestinian conciliation topped by the first condition that it should be permanent and not imposed.

He added that the parties concerned should back the goal of establishing an independent Palestinian state, and should agree to normal relations with Israel based on the Arab initiative of land for peace.

The Egyptian chief diplomat said that his country's proposed national reconciliation document was still there but was not for negotiations and would not include any addendums.
