Hamas congratulates Sheikh Salah on his release - Sheikh Salah: We'll Expel Israeli Occupation from Jerusalem, al-Aksa

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Khaled Mishaal, the political bureau chairman of Hamas, on Sunday extended warmest congratulations to Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, the leader of the Islamic movement in 1948 occupied Palestine, for his release from Israeli jail.

A statement by Hamas said that Mishaal extended his congratulations in his name and on behalf of all members of the political bureau and cadres and supporters of Hamas and the Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims in general.

The statement hoped that Sheikh Salah would be able to continue his national path in defense of Jerusalem, the Aqsa Mosque, and holy shrines, which are the target of aggression on the part of the Israeli occupation forces and extremist settlers.

12/12/2010 Head of the Islamic Movement's Northern Branch Raed Salah was released from the Ayalon Prison in Ramle after five months imprisonment, Sunday morning. Speaking to supporters who awaited his release outside the prison, Salah said, "In this welcoming I see confirmation of our eternal victory over occupied Jerusalem and al-Aksa Mosque."

The Islamic leader added, "I want to stress that this celebration today is only one celebration on the road to the big celebration, which is the expulsion of the Israeli occupation from Jerusalem and the al-Aksa Mosque."

Salah told his supporters, "We are not afraid of prison in the cause of Jerusalem and al-Aksa. We will continue to cling to every piece of earth in Jerusalem and to every Jerusalem stone."

The Islamic leader was “found guilty” of assaulting and spitting on a police officer who at a demonstration sponsored by Sheikh Salah in 2007.
