The mayor of the capital's central Cankaya district, Bulent Tanik, stated directly after the bast that nobody had been killed in the explosion, but three people were seriously injured.

The death of the three was later announced.

The blast, which targeted the Cankaya district administration offices, blew out windows of shops and offices in the surrounding area, damaged cars and sparked a fire which was later put out by firefighters at the scene, NTV said. The offices are near downtown Kizilay square.
