The origin of this ‘smoking gun’, as usual, is Israeli Memri’s translation of one of Ayatullah Khamenei’s speeches during his tour of Kermshah province.
Ayatullah Ali Khamenei is quoted as saying that the Executive post of President may be abolished after the completion of Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s second term in 2013. Under Iran’s Constitution, an elected President cannot serve more than two terms (total of 8 years).
The anti-Islam Zionist mafia took this ‘hint’ as a new ‘smoking gun’ against the Islamic Republic. The headline, “Iran’s Khamenei sets stage for a less democratic future” wrote Israeli hasbara idiots like Scott Peterson and Meir Javedanfar. What they meant, was, though a Parliamentary system is a sign of good democracy for Israel, India, Britain, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, etc., but in case of Iran, it will be less democratic.
The second Zio-conspiracy theory – Ahmadinejad is planning to compaign for his chief adviser Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei to contest 2013 Presidential election so he can continue his political influence behind the new President.
Third, as Reza Aslan said in an article, entitled ‘Do We Have Ahmadinejad All Wrong?’, publishhed in the Ziocon The Atlantic on January 13, 2011, that Ahmadinejad is NOT “a hard-liner”, as the Zioncons thought for a long time, but a ‘reformer’. Reza claimed that Ahmadinejad wanted to agree with US demand to stop country’s uranian enrichment program, but could not challenge Ayatullah Khamenei in the open on this subject. That’s the reason Ahmadinejad lost his support among the Conservatives.
Only some idiots will be convinced by these whining Ziocons’ logic of Ayatullah Khamenei being affraid of an elected President or a Prime Minister. Under Iranian Constitution, Ayatullah Khamenei is the Custodian of Islamic Revolution, Supreme Commander of Iran’s Armed forces and has the power to appoint judges to country’s highest courts. He also recognized as ‘wilayat-e-fiqhi’ by tens of millions of Shias in Iran and around the world.
After the success of 1979 Islamic Revolution, the country adopted system of an elected Majlis (Parliament) with Executive branch headed by a Prime Minister. Since then, there have been four Prime Ministers (Mohammad Ali Rajai, Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani and the Western favorite candidate against Ahmadinejad, Mir-Hossein Mousavi) before the post was abolished in August 1989 in favor of a US-style elected President but without an authority to wage war as the country’s armed forces remains under the control of the Supreme Leader.
It’s interesting to note that Islamic Republic is world’s only democratic country which has held both Presidential and Majlis elections every four years since 1980s even during the 8-year war with Iraq.
Since 1989, Iranian have elected Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, Ayatullah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Ayatullah Mohammad Khattami and Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as their Presidents. All of them have served two terms.
