Russia delivers radar detectors to Iran

Russia delivers radar detectors to Iran

Russia, which had reneged on delivering S-300 missiles to Iran after the vote on Security Council resolution 1929, has finally decided to replace them with mobile radar detectors Avtobaza 1L222, a purely defensive weapon which does not fall within the scope of the UN embargo. In practice, it will allow Iranians to observe air movement not only over their territory, but throughout the Middle East.
This follows the announcement of the installation of a NATO radar giant ABM in Turkey. Given the topography of the region, this device is intended to monitor Syria and Iran. It is interoperable with the Israeli radar.
