Tahriri (Liberation) Square in central Baghdad witnessed on Saturday a massive demonstration that condemned the Turkish military incursion in northern Iraq.
Among the crowds, former prime minister and current lawmaker, Nouri al-Maliki, and the commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilizations Forces, Hadi al-Ameri, were present in the rally.
Ameri asserted that all the Iraqi resistance factions will confront any scheme which targets the sovereignty and integrity of Iraq and reject any foreign military deployment over its territories whatever the pretexts are.
Ameri also greeted that "national stance of the religious authority in Iraq which aim at preserving the whole country."
On December 4, the Turkish military deployed hundreds of troops as well as heavy weaponry to the camp of Bashiqa near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, which has been under the control of the Takfiri ISIL terrorists since June 2014.
