Amnesty in Wartime [Full Doc]
In Syria, there are more than 100 militant groups fighting against the state army. Unusually, President Bashar Assad has offered an amnesty to militants who surrender.
This is definitely a good policy and military strategy, excellent for resolving internal and personal conflicts, but let us be wary of these individuals, who first turned their guns against their own brothers, and later, with circumstances unfavorable to them, they took the amnesty opportunity to get out of difficult situations. Forgiven ? Maybe. But surely their treachery, crimes and complicity are not, and never will be, erased from our hearts. (SFP)
