The Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard, backed by Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary),

ALEPPO, SYRIA (5:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard, backed by Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary), seized the Handarat Refugee Camp on Thursday after a three-day long battle with the jihadist rebels of Fatah Halab. The Syrian Armed Forces initially captured the Handarat Refugee Camp last week; however, a swift counter-offensive by the jihadist rebels forced the government units to withdraw to the eastern outskirts of the district.
Despite the uplifting news in northern Aleppo for the Syrian government and their supporters, they need to quickly secure the Shaqayf District and nearby Kindi Hospital in order to maintain control over the Handarat Refugee Camp.
In the coming hours, the situation in northern Aleppo could change drastically if the aforementioned sites are not captured; this is one of the reasons why the Syrian Armed Forces are already storming the Shaqayf District.
