Save Karaya anf Foua
by Jonathan Azaziah
Eid al-Ghadeer Mubarak to all the lovers of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.), no matter if you are Shi’a, Sunnis, any other Islamic school of thought, or even non-Muslims who simply have a heartfelt adoration for Imam Ali (A.S.) and his grace, intelligence, wisdom, eloquence, military genius, strength, poetic prowess, diplomatic skill, knowledge, lionheartedness and all-around lofty aura. And a special Eid al-Ghadeer Mubarak goes out to the suffering Syrian Shi’a of Al-Foua’a and Kefraya, two villages in Idleb’s outskirts that have been barbarically besieged by the Takfiri terrorist maniacs–chiefly Jabhat al-Nusra and “moderate” Ahrar al-Sham–since March 2015. These people, whose dauntlessness is of an unparalleled status, are enduring starvation, malnourishment, the rapid spread of too many infectious diseases to count, medicine shortages and near-daily shellings with all sorts of Western-provided weaponry. All of which is happening with ZERO mainstream media coverage and very little alternative press reportage either.
The martyr count is in the hundreds since the blockade began and the wounded count is in the thousands. Children, including infants, are among the dead and the injured. And if it wasn’t for the Hizbullah-trained NDF fighters from among the people and the handful of moujahideen from Iraq’s Harakat Hizbullah al-Nujaba defending the twin towns, the Takfiris would have already descended upon them and, in their rabid anti-Shi’a bloodthirstiness, carried out a genocide. Imam Ali (A.S.) once said “Anyone who loves we Ahlul Bayt must be ready to face a life of hardship.” Our Mawla (master) must have been talking about Al-Foua’a and Kefraya because their struggle embodies this saying to a frightening letter.
The 8th Imam of Shi’a Islam, Ali Ibn Moussa ar-Reza (A.S.), famously said, “The Day of Ghadeer is more well-known in the heavens than it is on Earth.” The implication of course is that “The Ummah” has failed miserably to grant this sanctified day, in which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) declared that anyone he is the Mawla of, then Imam Ali (A.S.) is their Mawla too, its proper credence. This is all the more true today as Dönmeh Al-Saud pumps petrodollars in mosques worldwide and attempts to wipe out positive references to Imam Ali (A.S.)–and other members of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.)–in Sunni books of Hadith to deepen schisms in the Islamic world on the Zionist entity’s behalf.
With that said, the following observation needs to be highlighted: Whenever pro-Syria, pro-Mouqawamah activists have had to discuss the suffering of civilians in terrorist-occupied areas such as Al-Zabadani, Madaya, Homs City and parts of Aleppo, there has been no disregard for the humanitarian disasters by any means. We have simply brought the truth to light that it is not the Syrian government and its allies doing the besieging, aid-blocking, civilian-tormenting and looting but the Wahhabi scourge. The “Syrian opposition” on the other hand, with all their talk of “peace”, “democracy” and “human rights”, don’t even acknowledge that Al-Foua’a and Kefraya exist, let alone that these areas are crying, screaming and hurting immeasurably; a fact which betrays the blanket of liberalism that they drape themselves in and exposes their true, hateful, sectarian nature.
Just like Eid al-Ghadeer, “The Ummah” has forgotten Al-Foua’a and Kefraya. And just like Eid al-Ghadeer, Al-Foua’a and Kefraya are also more well-known in the heavens, among the Prophets, Imams, Righteous Companions, Saints and Angels, than here on this Saudi-infected, Zionist-occupied, Imperialist-ravaged earthly plane. So in the same manner that we celebrate Eid al-Ghadeer yearly in defiance of Saudi Arabia’s “down the memory hole” plot and to keep the knowledge of Imam Ali’s (A.S.) birthright alive and well, we must also campaign for the people of Al-Foua’a and Kefraya to raise awareness on their plight since the Zionist media is maliciously covering up their pain as it does with the Wahhabi tyrants’ crimes in Yemen.
Thinking about these souls indeed on this day of all days not only reminds us of Imam Ali’s (A.S.) own sacrifices but also of his triumphs. Because the humans of Al-Foua’a and Kefraya, putting their horrific crisis aside just for the briefest of moments, are remarkable. Truly. They’re remarkable. Their obstinacy is otherwordly. Their steadfastness is surreal. Their strength is sublime. And their will to survive is an echo of Imam Ali’s (A.S.) grandson Imam Zayn al-Abideen’s (A.S.) own will to carry on the legacy of Islam and the Ghadeer Promise in spite of everything he witnessed on Ashoura. Today, Al-Foua’a and Kefraya are under siege and occupation at the hands of the same Khawarij that opposed Imam Ali (A.S.) and his destiny. That is only today however!
For boukra… Tomorrow… Like Imam Ali (A.S.) prevailed in martyrdom, as the love for him and the Divinely-mandated Imamat his sons and their sons preserved still lives, smiles and flourishes in the hearts of hundreds of millions of Muslims… And like Al-Qusayr, Tal Kallakh, all of Qalamoun, Nubl and Al-Zahra, Tadmur (Palmyra), Darayya, Homs City and Al-Ramouseh, Al-Foua’a and Kefraya will be free. As for the twin Shi’a towns’ martyrs, we refer to the beautiful brilliance of Imam Ali (A.S.) one last time: “Life is but the the shadow of a cloud; the dream of a sleeper.” Those Shouhada are beyond the clouds now and whispering to their besieged brethen, “Be like Imam Ali (A.S.); be like our Mawla’s posterity and hold on; hold on just a little bit longer.” #LongLiveSyria #FreeAlFouaaAndKefraya #EidAlGhadeerMubarak #YaAli
