Five French Banks Financing ‘Israeli’ Settlements
The International Federation for Human Rights confirmed that five French financial institutions funded the illegal ‘Israeli’ settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories through their partnership with ‘Israeli’ banks and companies operating in the settlements.
In a Wednesday report entitled: “Serious Links Between French Banks and the ‘Israeli’ Settlement”, the federation said that the banks BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Crédit Agricole, BPCE and AXA, and through their continuous support of ‘Israeli’ banks and companies operating in the settlements, directly contribute to the sustainability and development of these settlements.
The report further noted that these large French financial groups either manage “partnerships” or “owns shares” in ‘Israeli’ banks constitute “an essential tool in the settlement policy” through financing construction of these settlements.
Regarding their ties with ‘Israeli’ companies, the French institutions “provide vital services for the sustainability and development of the settlements,” such as construction of settler units, factories, phone and Internet networks or even the development of surveillance equipment.
