OPERATION DETERRENT BALANCE 8: HOUTHIS ATTACK SAUDI ARABIA WITH 14 SUICIDE DRONES

On November 5, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced that they had attacked several targets in central, western and southern Saudi Arabia as a part of a large-scale operation.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni group, revealed in a statement that a total of 14 suicide drones were launched in the course of the operation that was codenamed “Deterrent Balance 8”.

According to the spokesman’s statement:

King Khalid International Airport near the Saudi capital Riyadh in the Kingdom’s central region was targeted with four Samad-3 suicide drones.
King Abdulaziz International Airport in the city of Jeddah and a number of nearby oil refineries of Aramco in the western Saudi province of Mecca were targeted with four Samad-2 suicide drones.
An unidentified military target in Abha International Airport in the southern Saudi province of ‘Asir was targeted with a Samad-3 drone.
Several military targets in ‘Asir and the nearby provinces of Jizan and Najran were targeted with five Qasef-2K suicide drones.

Brig. Gen. Sari stressed that the Houthis can and will carry out more large attacks in order to protect Yemen and its people.

“The armed forces, with the help of God Almighty, will face escalation with escalation until the aggression stops and the siege is lifted, and God is a witness to what we say,” the spokesman said in his statement.

Two days earlier, the Houthis warned Saudi Arabia that it will face “serious consequences” as a result of its recent internes airstrikes on Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition played down the Houthis’ large-scale operation, claiming that three of suicide drones were shot down and that the group failed to launch two ballistic missiles. These claims are yet to be verified.

In response to the operation, Saudi-led coalition warplanes destroyed 13 targets of the Houthis in different parts of Yemen. According to the coalition’s claims, the targets included weapons depots, air-defense systems, communication systems and drones’ equipment.

Operation Deterrent Balance 8 is the most recent in a series of large-scale missile and drone attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia.

Operation Deterrent Balance 1 targeted the Shaybah super-giant oil field in southeast Saudi Arabia on 17 August 2019.
Operation Deterrent Balance 2 targeted two strategic oil facilities in the eastern Saudi areas of Buqayq and Khurais on 14 September 2019.
Operation Deterrent Balance 3 targeted an oil facility of Aramco as well as sensitive targets in the western Saudi city of Yanbu on 21 February 2020.
Operation Deterrent Balance 4 targeted the headquarters of the Saudi Defense Ministry, intelligence facilities, King Salman Air Base and other positions in Riyadh as well as in Jizan and Najran on 23 June 2020.
Operation Deterrent Balance 5 targeted military sites in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as well as in the Kingdom’s southern cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait on 28 February 2021.
Operation Deterrent Balance 6 targeted Ras Tanura oil port and an unspecified target in the nearby city of Dammam as well as several targets in both Jizan and ‘Asir on 7 March 2021.
Operation Deterrent Balance 7 targeted oil facilities of Aramco at Ras Tanura port, the western Saudi province of Makkah as well as in Jizan and Najran on 5 September 2021.

As suggested by their codename, these large-scale operations are meant to deter the Saudi-led coalition and pressure the Kingdom into ending its war on Yemen.

Army Spox: Yemeni Army Drones Hit Saudi Arabia’s King Khaled Airbase, Aramco Refinery

The Yemeni army has launched a large-scale military operation inside Saudi Arabia, hitting the Arab kingdom’s Khaled airbase and Aramco refinery, in retaliation for a years-long brutal war by the Saudi-led coalition against impoverished Yemen.

In a statement carried by Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network on Saturday, spokesman of Yemen’s Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced the successful implementation of the “Eighth Deterrence Balance Operation” by bombing a number of military and vital targets inside Saudi Arabia, using 14 domestically-developed combat drones.

He said four Sammad-3 [Invincible-3] drones bombed the King Khaled airbase near capital Riyadh, adding that four Sammad-2 [Invincible-2] drones also bombed military targets at King Abdullah International Airport in Jeddah and Aramco Jeddah refineries.

Separately, military targets at Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern province of Asir were bombarded by Sammad-3 drone and five Qasef-2K [Striker-2K] drones bombed various military targets in Abha, Jizan and Najran provinces.

Yemen’s “armed forces affirm their ability to carry out more offensive operations against Saudi and Emirati enemies within the framework of the legitimate defense of Yemeni nation and homeland,” General Saree further said.

He also stressed that the Yemeni “armed forces, with the help of God Almighty, will face escalation with escalation until the aggression stops and the siege is lifted.”

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies – including the United Arab Emirates [UAE] – launched the brutal war on Yemen in March 2015. The campaign was launched to eliminate popular Ansarullah movement and reinstall Yemen’s Riyadh-backed former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Ansarullah has been running state affairs in the absence of an effective government in Yemen.

The war has also been carried out in collaboration with a number of Riyadh’s allied states and with arms and logistics support from the United States and several Western countries.

The brutal aggression, which is accompanied by a tight siege, has failed to reach its goals, but it has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemeni people.

The UN says more than 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger. The world body also refers to the situation in Yemen as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The war has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories.

Saudi Arabia is being targeted by the Yemeni army and its allied popular forces continuously, with the Sanaa government saying that it will keep hitting targets deep inside the Arab kingdom as long as the war and siege continue.

Yemeni Resistance Declares Successful Military Op in Marib, Liberating Districts in Shabwa, & Al-Bayda Province

Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yehya Sarae announced in a statement on Tuesday the success of the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees’ operations in Marib, detailing the results of the second phase of Operation ‘Spring of Victory.’

The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out successful military operations in al-Bayda, Shabwa, and Marib provinces, Saree explained, pointing to the entire liberation of al-Bayda Province, and several districts from Shabwa Province, thanks to the continued support from the tribes of the three provinces.

“The Yemeni forces, with the support of the indigenous tribes, continue their military operations to liberate the country in which freedom and independence are achieved,” Saree said.

“We were able to liberate Al-Juba and Jabal Murad districts in Marib, with an estimated area of 1,100 km, during the 2nd phase of Operation “Spring of Victory”, and our Mujahideen continue to advance towards Marib city, as the Saudi aggression’s mercenaries and leaders flee the area,” he said.

The spokesman further noted that the Saudi aggression warplanes launched 159 raids. However, they failed to stop the progress of our Mujahideen during the 2nd phase of the operation.

“Our missile forces launched 47 operations, 31 of which targeted the enemy sites in the Yemeni occupied areas, and 16 operations in the Saudi depth,” he noted, adding that “Our forces succeeded in liberating most of the areas of Marib, and we vow to continue to perform our jihadi duty towards our people and country.”

“We won’t hesitate to move forward towards liberating the remaining lands of Marib,” Saree underlined.

He then noted that more than 200 of the Saudi aggression mercenaries were killed and more than 550 injured during the second phase of the operation.

“As we’re surrounding the outskirts of Marib from several sides, we reiterate to the citizens that we will continue to perform our duties towards them,” Saree assured the citizens.

He finally addressed the Saudi regime as saying: “Your absurd, aggressive and criminal war will return as humiliation, disgrace and defeat to you.”

The spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces, General Yahya Sarea, announced on Thursday the details of the major offensive against the remnants of the two takfiri terrorists, affiliated with Qaeda and ISIL militant groups.

indicated that the offensive, termed as “Dawn of Victory”, lasted for 48 hours, adding that the tribesmen and locals contributed to the achievement of liberating an area of 2700 square kilometers.

“During the offensive, 70 Saudi-led mercenaries were killed, and 120 others were injured.”

General Sarea added that the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees captured 40 of the terrorists, including commanders, and manage to destroy or seize much of the enemy’s ammunition and gear.

Yemen has been since March 2015 under a brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been injured and martyred in Saudi-led strikes, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

The coalition has been also imposing a blockade on the impoverished country’s ports and airports as a part of his aggression which is aimed at restoring power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

Meanwhile, Yemen is home to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with at least 7 million people on the brink of famine and hundreds of thousands suffering from cholera.

‘Great Strength’: Houthis Reveal Details Of Large-Scale Operation In Ma’rib (18+ Video)

On September 17, the Houthis announced that they “liberated” more than 1,600 square kilometers in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib from the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies during a recent large-scale operation.

The operation, codenamed “Great Strength,” saw the Houthis and their allies imposing control of the districts of Medghal and Majzar. The Mass Millitary camp also fell into the hands of the Houthis. The camp was one of the Saudi-led coalition main bases in Ma’rib.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthis, claimed that the coalition used to shelter elements of al-Qaeda and ISIS in the camp.

During Operation Great Strength, the Houthis’ Missile Force carried out a total of 161 attacks. 128 of the attacks were against targets in Yemen, while 33 were launched against targets deep inside Saudi Araba.

The Houthis’ Air Force also carried out 319 attacks with drones. 136 attacks targeted Saudi-backed forces in Yemen and 183 targeted Saudi Arabia.

According to Brig. Gen Sari, the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies sustained heavy losses as a result of Operation Greater Strength. Around 3,000 Saudi-backed fighters were killed, 12,400 others were wounded and 550 were captured. Furthermore, 1,500 vehicles of Saudi-backed forces were destroyed, burned or damaged.

In the course of the operation, the Houthis documented 3,290 airstrikes by Saudi-led coalition warplanes. The airstrikes failed to stop, or even slow down the group’s advance in Ma’rib.

Last week, the Houthis announced that they captured the districts of Mahliyah and Rahbah in Ma’rib after advancing from the nearby province of al-Bayda during the third phase of Operation Evident Victory.

The Houthis have been advancing towards Ma’rib city and nearby oil fields for well-over six months now. All attempts to stop them by the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies were a complete and utter failure.

Operation Great Strength was not the end of Houthi operations in Ma’rib. The Yemeni group will not likely stop its operations in Ma’rib before capturing the provincial center.

Yemeni Resistance Reveals Details of Operation ’Severe Punishment’ Against Saudi Aggressors In Marib

Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yehya Saree announced in a press conference on Friday the details of a wide-scale military operation carried out by the Yemeni resistance.

Saree announced the results of wide-scale qualitative military Operation “Severe Punishment” that was carried out in Marib Province where large swathes of territories have been liberated.

The operation lasted for several months and achieved its goals successfully, Saree said, adding that mercenaries were kicked out of the liberated areas.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces started a new phase of liberating Yemen from invaders and occupiers, opened new paths, and followed tactics that suit the military operation’s geography,” the spokesman said.
The Rocketry Force and the Propelled Air Force carried out dozens of successful military operations, 128 of which took place inside Yemen and 33 others were carried out in the Saudi depth, Saree added.
Badr, Nakal, Qassem, Zolfikar, and Quds2-type missiles were used during the series of operations.
Meanwhile, the Propelled Air Force carried out 319 operations that targeted the enemy on its land, in addition to 183 other operations that targeted the aggressors on Yemeni ground.
Furthermore, Saree explained, the Engineering and Anti-armored Units played a major role in this battle.
“The Rocketry and Aerial Force targeted gatherings and sites belonging to mercenaries and forces of the coalition of aggression against Yemen inside the occupied Yemeni territories,” he said, noting that during the course of Operation “Severe Punishment”, the coalition of aggression waged hundreds of strike in the area.
The Yemeni Armed Forces monitored more than 3290 strikes in attempts to hinder the progress of the Yemeni Armed Forces, the forces of aggression also targeted civilians during that period.
Among the most important results of Operation “Severe Punishment” was gaining huge amounts of heavy weapons.
The duration of the operation extended from March 2020 to November 2020 in which 3000 members of the enemy were killed, 12400 sustained injuries, and 550 others were detained.
“Our forces managed to liberate around 1600 square kilometers of Marib during the operation,” Saree said, naming in particular the directorates of Medghal and Mejzar in the province.
Additionally, among the most important results was the liberation of Mas Camp, one of the biggest bases that have been used by the enemy over the past years.
“We hail the resistance role played by our people in Marib during this operation,” Saree noted, concluding that “Our cause is to liberate Yemen.”

Saudi Arabia, backed by the US and regional allies, launched a war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crushing the Ansarullah resistance movement.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead, and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases.

The Yemeni armed forces and allied Popular Committees, however, have grown steadily in strength against the Saudi-led invaders, and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.

Yemen says to unveil new missiles as Saudi steps up airstrikes

Press TV: Saudi military aircraft have carried out a spate of airstrikes in Yemen’s Hudaydah as the kingdom presses ahead with a military campaign against its southern neighbor, despite announcing a “new peace initiative.”

Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, citing local sources, reported that Saudi warplanes launched two missiles at Hudaydah International Airport early Sunday.

There were no immediate reports about possible casualties and the extent of damage.

Saudi fighter jets also conducted two airstrikes against al-Faza area in the al-Tuhayat district of the same Yemeni province, with no casualties and damage immediately reported.

Saudi warplanes mounted an air raid against al-Luheyah district as well.

On March 22, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud presented a so-called peace initiative to end the war in Yemen, which would include reopening Sana’a airport and allowing fuel and food imports through Hudaydah port — both of which are under the control of the Ansarullah movement.Iran envoy to Sana’a: Saudi ‘peace’ plan only perpetuates war, occupation in Yemen

The Iranian ambassador to Sana’a says Saudi Arabia’s so-called peace initiative will merely perpetuate war and occupation in Yemen.

The top Saudi diplomat told a news conference that political negotiations between the warring Yemeni sides would resume as part of the initiative.

Bin Farhan said the initiative would be enforced once the Yemeni sides accepted it.

Reacting to the proposal, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the spokesman for Ansarullah movement, said afterwards that it offered “nothing new,” and did not meet the movement’s demand for a complete lifting of the blockade on Sana’a airport and Hudaydah port.

“We expected that Saudi Arabia would announce an end to the blockade of ports and airports and an initiative to allow in 14 ships that are held by the coalition,” he said.

A “humanitarian right” should not be used as a pressure tool, Abdul-Salam pointed out.

Hudaydah truce violated 207 times in 24 hours

An unnamed source in Yemen’s Liaison and Coordination Officers Operations Room said Saudi forces and their mercenaries had breached a ceasefire agreement between warring sides in Hudaydah province 207 times during the past 24 hours.

Yemen’s official Saba news agency, citing the source at the monitor, reported that the violations included formation of fortification lines near 50th Street, Kilo 16, Hays and al-Jabaliya neighborhoods, more than a dozen reconnaissance flights over various districts, as well as 41 counts of artillery shelling and shooting incidents.

The Hudaydah ceasefire was reached in December 2018 when delegates from the Ansarullah movement and representatives of former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi attended negotiations in Rimbo on the outskirts of Stockholm.Yemen urges meaningful end to war, siege in response to Saudi ‘peace initiative’

A prominent member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council dismisses Saudi Arabia’s so-called peace initiative, calling for a meaningful end to the ongoing war and siege against the country instead.

The document included three provisions: a ceasefire along the Hudaydah front and the redeployment of armed forces out of the city and its port; an agreement on prisoner exchange; and a statement of understanding on the southern Yemeni city of Ta’izz.

Dubai-based Saudi television al-Arabiya claimed on Sunday that Saudi naval units had destroyed two explosive-laden boats as they were cruising towards the kingdom’s southern regions.

The channel, citing a statement released by the Saudi military, said that both boats had been launched from Yemen’s Hudaydah.

‘Saudi Arabia should expect more strikes’

The spokesman for Yemeni armed forces on Saturday praised military achievements made by the country’s troops, stating that advanced home-grown missile systems are going to be unveiled later this year.

“Yemeni missile units now possess great and advanced expertise, and are currently working on developing sophisticated systems,” Brigadier General Yahya Saree told al-Masirah TV.

“Some of these undeclared systems have already been tested to strike targets at home and deep inside aggressor countries.”

The high-ranking Yemeni military official denounced the ongoing Saudi siege of Yemen, saying the blockade is one of the means of aggression, and cannot be justified through allegations of preventing the supply of weapons.

“Munitions are being manufactured here inside Yemen. The siege has nothing to do with targeting [Yemeni] armed forces, but rather seeks to impact people and subjugate them, as is the case with a military attack,” Saree said.

“If the Saudi regime does not stop its attacks and siege against Yemen, we will inflict a severe blow which it has not experienced before,” he added.

‘Battle for Ma’rib will soon succeed’

Deputy chief of general staff for Yemeni armed forces also praised the country’s military power, saying Yemeni troops and fighters from their allied Popular Committees continue to make advances in the central province of Ma’rib.

“The battle for Ma’rib is proceeding according to the plans drawn up for it. Performance of military forces on the ground is determined by their skills and strong commitment to the plans formulated,” Major General Ali al-Mushki said.

He said military forces from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates together with local and regional Takfiri militants are fighting side by side in Ma’rib. A top member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council says Yemeni armed forces will soon liberate the strategic central province of Ma’rib along with other regions in the country.

Mushki noted that military operations in Ma’rib will soon attain their set goals, and locals being held hostage by “bullying Takfiri groups” will be liberated.

“Invading forces have turned Ma’rib into a hotbed for Takfiri militants and foreign troops. They even killed young people, who opposed their political agenda,” he said.

Senior pro-Hadi commander killed in Ma’rib

A top pro-Hadi commander was killed Saturday in clashes with Yemeni army forces and Popular Committees commanders in Ma’rib province, local media reports said.

“Major General Amin al-Waeli was killed at the Kassara front in the province,” a military source, who preferred not to be named, said.

He added that the commander was killed on the battlefront northwest of Ma’rib.

Over the past few weeks, Ma’rib has been the scene of large-scale operations by Yemeni troops and allied Popular Committees fighters, who are pushing against Saudi-sponsored pro-Hadi militants.

These developments come as fierce battles continue to take place in the oil-rich province of Ma’rib in eastern Yemen, leaving behind a large number of dead and injured for both sides.

The Defense Ministry in Sana’a said that the clashes (in Ma ’rib) take place amidst heavy (Saudi) coalition warplane activity, this while military reinforcements continue to arrive to the battle fronts.

Major-General Abdullah al-Jaffry, military expert:

Regarding the battles in the city of Ma ‘rib, the (Yemeni) army was actually able to gain these great victories on the outskirts of the city. Today, the city of Ma ‘rib is besieged from all sides, and this comes after the political and military decision had been taken (to retake it). What is going on now is merely the final steps to control the security situation in (in Ma ‘rib), in a bid to protect (Yemeni) civilians and save their lives as well as their assets.

With the continuing escalation, the scene (in Yemen) seems to be very unclear and is open to various scenarios.

The political deadlock and international inability to achieve progress in this regard has had repercussions on the battlefield situation, further complicating the current crisis which continues to grow day by day.
