AMMAN, (PIC)-- Palestinian journalist Shaker Al-Jawhari stated Sunday that the strategic interest of Jordan conflicts with the interests of Mahmoud Abbas, the ex-chief of the Palestinian Authority (PA), warning that Abbas waived the higher Palestinian interests and he is ready to do the same with Jordan.

Jawhari, the editor-in-chief of Al-Mostakbal magazine and a former member of Fatah, said in a press statement to the Jordanian weekly Al-Sabeel newspaper that Farouq Al-Qaddoumi, the secretary general of the Fatah central committee, chose this timing to reveal the parties involved in the assassination of the late Palestinian president after he found that Abbas’s conduct came to a head.

He highlighted that the interest of Jordan lies in its alignment with the legitimate representatives of the Palestinian people, who are considered a “safety valve” for Jordan and do not look for an alternative homeland.

The journalist underlined that Qaddoumi’s difference with Abbas has started since the first day Abbas joined Fatah faction, adding that the latter has embarked since then on fighting the people who have inalienable positions and introducing suspicious elements into the faction.

The journalist called on the Palestinian resistance factions to have a united position against Abbas as a former PA chief whose term of office had expired.

He also emphasized that Abbas’s current project is to serve Israel and America, warning that there is no settlement on the horizon and the Palestinian people is on the verge of a new intifada (uprising) against Israeli occupation.
