The Israeli election results show that Israeli society is shifting more to the right. The two main right wing parties gained more seats in the Knesset, although the Labor or Kadima party won first place slightly ahead of Likud. The extremist Yisrael Beiteninu party came in third place. The outcome of the election show Netanyahu’s Likud party and Avigidor Lieberman’s extremist Yisrael Beiteinu party will be forming a coalition with Labor or Kadima Party. The two right wing parties will dominate the government. This political campaign was different than previous campaigns; none of the candidates ran on a peace platform. All the candidates were trying to outdo one another on who would do better at destroying the Palestinian resistance, and promising more settlements on occupied Palestinian land. Although the candidates wear a different mask, they share a common goal to create a greater Israel (all historical Palestine) by to colonizing all the occupied territories and expeling all Palestinians. They are following the footsteps of the founder of Zionism Theodore Herzl . Herzl who was secular, founded Zionism in when he convened the first Zionist congress in Basle, Switzerland in 1897. What happened in Palestine in 1948 and what is happening presently in the occupied territories is exactly what the founder of Zionism preached in 1895. Zionism which is a political entity has nothing to do with Judaism which is a religious faith. Zionisim uses the Jewish faith to achieve their aims. Many Jews oppose Zionism. There are even Christian Zionists who are staunch supporters of the Zionist state of Israel. The best description of Zionism is that it is an entity that represents Racism, ethnic cleansing, racial Apartheid against non Jewish inhabitants, and state sponsored terrorisim. The prospect of Peace is further than ever.
