Odwan contacts Galloway; urges Egypt to open Rafah doors for life line convoy

GAZA, (PIC)-- Former PA minister MP Atef Odwan has telephoned British lawmaker MP George Galloway who leads the British life line convoy but stopped by the Egyptian authorities at Al-Arish city, not so far from Rafah crossing point.
According to Odwan, the humanitarian caravan wasn’t yet permitted to enter the besieged Gaza Strip, but he expressed hopes that Egypt would rethink its stand and pave the way for the smooth entry of the convoy.
At least two members of convoy were wounded in clashes with the Egyptian security forces who blocked them from proceeding to the Strip where 1.5 million Palestinian citizens were besieged and left helpless.
For his part, Galloway stressed that he wouldn’t enter the tiny Strip without the convoy, explaining that some difficulties were facing the convoy, which is now at Al-Arish waiting for the permit.
The 120 truck-convoy had started from London on February 14 by land, crossing a number of European and Arab countries in north Africa en route to occupied Palestine and the Rafah crossing point.
Galloway had visited the Strip in the past and he had seen what had happened to Gaza Strip and the people of Gaza Strip at the hands of the Israeli occupation army.
"We were indeed shocked with what had happened to the Palestinian people in Gaza, and we are coming today to extend a helping for them", Galloway underlined.
