ISTANBUL, (PIC)-- Ahmed Dawood Oglo, the Turkish foreign minister, said on Thursday that his country was closely monitoring the repressive Israeli measures against the occupied city of Jerusalem and against Palestinian Jerusalemites, warning that such policies could jeopardize Turkish-Israeli ties.

In a joint conference with his Hungarian counter part in Istanbul, Oglo pointed out that his ministry sent "warning" letters to all parties concerned over the Israeli siege on the Aqsa Mosque.

He added that the Turkish consul-general in Jerusalem met with Palestinian officials in-charge for the Mosque purposely to know from them what is exactly happening on the ground, stressing his country's strong opposition to the Israeli occupation polices against the Palestinian people.

In this regard, Oglo urged the Zionist entity to respect the Aqsa Mosque, and to take into account the place and value of the Mosque in the hearts of billions of Muslims and Christians around the world.

He also stressed the Turkish firm stand on the Palestinian issue and on the status of the occupied city of Jerusalem, underlining that Turkey considers eastern Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque as inseparable part of the Palestinian territories
