DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Khaled Mashaal, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, on Sunday called on Arab countries to sincerely host a meeting for the Palestinian rivals in Cairo and respect what will be agreed upon if they want the national reconciliation to become a reality.
“Assemble us in Cairo and choose whoever you like from Arabs to attend and you will find the reconciliation come true,” Mashaal said during a condolence reception held for slain Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Damascus.
He added that what will be agreed upon will be signed and thus should be respected by all Arabs.
The Hamas political leader, in another context, deplored Salam Fayyad’s intention to partake in Herzliya conference, one of Israel's premier national security and strategy summits, and called on Fatah to prevent such participation.
“I condemn, on behalf of every free person from Palestine and the [Arab] nation, the participation of Salam Fayyad or anybody else in the conference of the [Israeli] enemy. Such participation is a disgrace to those who participate in it and Fatah is able to prevent Salam Fayyad,” the Hamas leader highlighted.
