Bardawil: Hostile forces wish to save Israel

[ 05/06/2010 - 04:52 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Salah Bardawil, spokesman of Hamas' parliamentary bloc, believes that the U.S. and Israel along with the Fatah authority in Ramallah are planning to free Israel of global anger for the Freedom Flotilla massacre, and to prevent Hamas from gaining political advantage from what took place.
Bardawil said in a press statement on Saturday, commenting on what is currently circulating in the media that the U.S., Israel, and Fatah are searching for new means to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, that such tactics involve several objectives, including:

1 – To reduce Israel's embarrassment and the international resentment at the siege it imposes on the Gaza Strip.

2 – To cut off all possibilities for Hamas to benefit politically as a result of the convoys, and to keep it subjected to political pressure.

3 – To frustrate the Turkish effort in recognizing the result of the legitimate elections which put Hamas into power, as the Turkish Prime Minister refused to charge Hamas with terrorism and confirmed that it is a legally elected movement which stands up for the people of Palestine.

4 – To save the reputation of the Fatah movement along with Fatah leader, Mahmoud Abbas, who was under huge criticism for the shameful position he took regarding the siege, and which resulted from his on-going absurd negotiations with Israel.

5 – To control the types of goods sent to Gaza in order to ensure continued pressure so as to derail development under Hamas' control.

Bardawil also confirmed that Hamas welcomes the convoys to break the siege and invites them to continue.

He emphasized that the right to secure sea passageways connecting the Palestinian people to the outside world is one of their political rights.
