LONDON, (PIC)-- The London Times reported on Wednesday that the security attaché in the Israeli embassy in Ireland will be expelled because of a scandal involving counterfeit passports used in the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh.
The newspaper said that Ireland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Martin, approved the government's recommendation to expel an Israeli diplomat from the embassy. The Israeli ambassador was notified of the decision.
The paper noted that the expulsion will be delayed for two weeks so as not to be linked to the Freedom Flotilla attack, which carried Irish citizens on board.
There has been growing popular demand in Ireland to penalize Israel for the Freedom Flotilla massacre, especially since Irish peace activists who were on board are still in detention.
