CAIRO, (PIC)-- Mohamed Subaih, [Ex-Fateh] the assistant secretary-general of the Arab League for Palestine and the occupied Arab land, appealed to the international community to intervene before it is too late to provide protection for occupied Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement on the 41st anniversary of the arson attack on the Aqsa Mosque, Subaih said Monday that Israel carries out its Judaization activities in public and uses its army and intelligence agencies to impose a fait accompli on the Palestinians.

He affirmed that the situation in Jerusalem is much more difficult than in 1969 when the Aqsa Mosque was burnt and in more need for pooling the efforts to protect it and its holy sites, noting that Israel prepared a plan to Judaize the whole of Jerusalem by 2020.

The Arab League official called on the Arab Nation to do its best and assume its religious responsibilities towards the holy city which he described as a "red line" and the "city of war and peace."

The Arab League, for its part, said that the preparatory committee of the international conference for the support of Jerusalem to be held in Qatar next February would meet this Wednesday.
