Syrian Source: Jeffrey Feltman Still Living in His Illusions

War Cooking
04/11/2010 Commenting on statements made by US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, a senior Syrian official source said on Thursday that the US official was still living in his illusions.

“It seems that Feltman hasn't read the published documents about his role in accusing Syria of assassinating late Former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri in 2005,” the Syrian official source was quoted by Syrian official news agency SANA as saying.

According to SANA, the source stressed that Syria is interested in the security and stability in Lebanon as the security and stability of Lebanon are vital for Syria's security and stability. “Perhaps, Feltman needs to recognize the historical and geographical facts that Syria is a neighboring brotherly country of Lebanon whereas the USA is more than 10,000 miles away from it,” the source reportedly added.

“Whoever cares for the sovereignty and independence of Lebanon doesn't issue lists on boycotting Lebanese citizens just because the USA is not satisfied with them as they do not serve its interests,” the source went on to say.

The Syrian official source concluded by expressing belief that Damascus was not in need of Feltman's advice. “Syria exercises its role with an independent decision which serves its people's interests and the security and stability of the region.”
