Islamic Jihad slams rapid digging near Aqsa

GAZA, (PIC)-- The Islamic Jihad movement has strongly condemned accelerated Israeli excavations south of the Aqsa Mosque, calling on the OIC, Arab League and rights groups to act urgently to defend the historic Islamic landmarks of Jerusalem against Judaization.

The Aqsa Islamic heritage foundation had revealed that Israel was accelerating steps to destroy the historic Umayyad palaces south of the mosque and extend a network of bridges and steel rails across the historic area adjacent to the mosque before transforming the entire area into facilities for the alleged second temple.

Israel's steps must be addressed by the Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims, Islamic Jihad said in a statement on Saturday.

It added that Israel is exploiting the turn of events across the Arab world to accelerate its Judaization of the holy city of Jerusalem and erase the city's Islamic features.

It called the move a blatant violation against the Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims and also against the history and civilization of Jerusalem.

”The acceleration of Judaization steps will not change the reality of Jerusalem, an Islamic, Arab capital,” it added, emphasizing that the Palestinians will continue to preserve the right to their land.
