Simple question about the NATO

As far as my limited education goes,
I know that the NATO is basically a defence treaty
whereas  if one member is attacked , all other members
will join in to defending it......as simple as that.
"One for all and all for one"


Now that the NATO is taking over
the "liberation" of Libya
I have one simple question :
Which member of NATO did Libya attack ???

Which remind me also of another 9 years old question :
Which NATO member was attacked by Afghanistan ??


Anyhow if the Soviet-Block were still here,today,
the Muslem World would have been left
to evoluate naturaly.........without the NATO !!
