Ignoring suffering of Palestinians, PA to host dance festival in Ramallah

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- As the tears of many Palestinian families who lost their beloved ones during recent Israeli aerial attacks on Gaza have not yet dried, preparations are being made in the West Bank city of Ramallah to host a festival for contemporary dance.

Different news agencies said the Palestinian authority (PA) is making preparations to launch a 20-day dance festival with the participation of 15 dance bands from Arab and foreign countries.

Director of the festival Khaled Olayan made an apology for not canceling the festival out of respect for the feelings of the bereaved families and just said the shows would be held only in the occupied city of Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Ramallah and not in Gaza.

A few days ago, one of the victims, Nizal Qudeih, a 19-year old girl, was getting prepared for her wedding in Gaza when an Israeli air raid killed her along with her mother turning their home into a house of mourning after it was set to receive wedding invitees.

Ramallah regiment is not the name of a resistance brigade fighting the occupation and defending the Palestinian people, but it is one of three Palestinian dance bands that will participate in the festival against other groups from Portugal, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, France, Norway, Germany, Spain and other countries.

In a separate context, the family committee of political detainees in PA jails said there are still 420 political prisoners in different West Bank prisons.

The committee condemned the attempt by PA militias to kidnap the father of martyr Mamoun Al-Natsheh from Al-Ansar Mosque in Al-Khalil city as shameful and painful.

It said the militias wanted to kidnap the father of Natsheh because he only talked about the suffering of his son, Mutasim, who has been in Jericho prison for more than six months.

The committee hailed the Palestinian young men who are still holding a sit-in on Al-Manara square in Ramallah city for demanding the PA to immediately release all political detainees from its jail.
