It's been a busy week for the Israeli Navy, and the week is barely half over yet. Today, Tuesday, Israel seized the French boat "Dignity," the one and only Freedom Flotilla vessel that was able to make it out to sea, surrounding it in international waters and escorting it into port at Ashdod. Here is footage from RT.
The outcome, of course, was never in doubt. No one, least of all the 16 people aboard the Dignity, really expected to make it into Gaza certainly. But the fact that 1.5 million Gazans remain blockaded, essentially cut off from the rest of the world, has to stick in the craws of millions of people everywhere who are growing increasingly sick of watching the Zionist state flout international law and get away with it. Hamas leaders in Gaza called it an act of "international piracy." They are right. This is what it was. But apparently no other government, at least so far, has had the courage to come out and say the same thing. Meanwhile, the Israeli press is in self-congratulatory mode owing to the fact that the pirating of the boat came off without incident—apparently there were no casualties—and that this year's flotilla has been effectively shut down.
Today's attack on the Dignity comes hot on the heels of an altogether separate incident Sunday in which Israeli Navy ships surrounded a human rights monitoring vessel, attempting to capsize it. The "Oliva" was launched back in April of this year, and since then has been plying the waters of Gaza monitoring attacks by Israel against Gaza fishermen. According to the report below, it was the fourth straight day the Israeli Navy had engaged in provocations against the vessel.
It seems the brave Israeli Navy's sole function is to keep the Zionist homeland safe from unarmed civilian vessels. You can read more about the Oliva's mission here.
