Conclusion: US to Israel: "Israel is a sovereign state" means "You're on your own!"

US message to the Israeli mob: 'In the next election year, our interest shall remain the stable flow of oil from the Gulf, (something shared with the Iranians) and the Levant is decreasing in importance for us. Our hands are fuller in the farthest East. We know. This causes you great displeasure, but we see no real advantage for us to remain entangled in the Levant. On Iran, again, you don't have the stamina nor the firepower to 'do Iran', and we surely are not going to do it for you. You cross that line, and seriously, you're on you're own! [People in the know say that Dempsey was the right Officer to relay Obama's (and the DoD's) message to the Zionist mob, precisely because in Volume II, the US position did not entail a volte face .... Someone recently half jokingly said that if Lieberman attended any of the meetings "there would be blood on the floor!" The WSJ puts on a brave face:

Gen. Dempsey's visit to Israel, his first as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was preceded by multiple, seemingly conflicting messages regarding policy on Iran from Israeli leaders.... During his one-day stopover in Israel, Gen. Dempsey met with Messrs. Netanyahu and Barak. He also met President Shimon Peres, who alluded to the difference of opinions...... "
