Doha-based channel al-Jazeera broadcast on Tuesday a new video, showing Lebanese abductees who were kidnapped two months ago.
The abductors described the video as the Statement number 3, saying they would release two of the pilgrims.
“In response to the appeal of the Muslim Scholars Committee in Lebanon, we will hand over two of the guests in our custody to their families under the supervision of the Muslim Scholars Committee in Lebanon and the state of Qatar,” the statement said.
“We have informed the Turkish government in order to confirm our good intentions.”
However any official figure in Lebanon could not confirm the abductees would be freed.
Interior minister Marwan Charbel said the Lebanese government had not received any official decision concerning the issue.
The pilgrims were kidnapped on May 22 in Syrian province of Aleppo as they were returning to Lebanon by bus from Iran.
