Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi stressed that defections would not affect the Syrian state, as he denounced the attack which targeted the building of Radio and TV, saying nothing would silence Damascus.
In press statements following the Cabinet session on Monday, al-Zoubi dismissed as untrue reports on some ministers defecting, adding that 99 per cent of the news broadcast by certain media outlets on Syrian personalities or events were desperate attempts with defined goals.
“Syria is a state of institutions,” the information minister said, and the “flight of some of its individuals would not affect the state, however prominent they were.”
"We haven't heard anything from the former prime minister and he didn't appear on TV," al-Zoubi was quoted as saying by Syrian state news agency Sana.
Meanwhile, Al-Zoubi, stressed to the Syrian TV by phone that the explosion at the building was the result of an explosive device blast that caused minor injuries and material damage only, assuring that all the workers were safe.
"We know those who stand behind such coward and desperate criminal acts," said al-Zoubi, affirming that the national Syrian media continue to be transparent in reporting the truth and expressive of the Syrian people's aspirations and anguishes.
Minister al-Zoubi added that the organization will continue work as usual, highlighting that the morale of its cadres was at its best as they were all behind their desks.
"We know politically speaking who stands behind these terrorist operations and who funds them and who wants to silence the voice of the people's conscience…We know who wants destruction for this country and who wants to block the truth," said al-Zoubi.
