Hundreds of Saudi Soldiers and Commander Join Yemeni Forces
(FNA, 26/6/2015) ~ 300 Saudi soldiers and an artillery commander have joined the Yemeni forces, a senior Yemeni politician announced on Friday.
“The latest blow at the Al Saud came as Hashem al-Ahmar, artillery commander of the Saudi army in al-Wadia border crossing and 300 soldiers joined the Yemeni army and the revolutionary forces,” the Middle East Panorama website quoted Head of Yemen’s Free Army Nasser bin Yahya al-Orujli as saying on Friday.
He noted that the Saudi regime is still in a difficult situation and the Saudi officials know it quite well.
Last Wednesday, tribal forces and activists in Saudi Arabia’s Najran region formed a military and political opposition movement to the Saudi regime, called “Ahrar al-Najran” after the region declared earlier this month that it has separated from Saudi Arabia and joined Yemen in the war on Riyadh.
Activist and movement member, Abu Bakr Abi Ahmad al-Salami, told FNA that “all tribes of the region are members of the Ahrar al-Najran Movement”.
He said the youths and political activists in Najran have demanded the “Yemeni popular forces and revolutionary committees, brothers, and the neighboring lands to provide military training for the younger generation of this region”.
Al-Salami underlined the movement tough stance against the al-Saud regime, saying, “Saudi Arabia wrongfully imagines that it is the only defender of Islam, but they should know that we are the defenders of Islam and the two holy mosques, and we will rush to defend the two mosques (in Mecca and Medina) if necessary.”
Al-Salami said the movement is worried about developments in Yemen, and declared that “the movement’s first battle will take place in those areas controlled by the Saudi occupation army in Southern Najran soon”.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 93 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
The Monarchy’s attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 4,727 civilians, mostly women and children.

A Saudi pilot reportedly committed suicide after feeling guilty of massacring Yemeni children
(al-Alam, 24/6/2015) ~ According to Arab media, a TV network called al-Mostaqella quoted reliable sources in Saudi king office that Mohammed Omar al-Anzi who was a fighter plane pilot committed suicide after seeing the photos of the children who were massacred in a brutal way during an air attacks he was involved in.
Before committing suicide, he sent a letter to a number of his friends in which he said that war in Yemen was a big crime against defenseless people.
He said in his letter “We have forgotten Islam, we were forced to shed the blood of Muslims the way Christian or Jewish pilots do. Muhammad Bin Salman has pushed us into a war which is already doomed to failure.”
Bin Salman is the defense minister of the Saudi Arabia.
Al-Anzi further wondered in his letter, “I don’t know why we should endanger the interests of our own country because of what America or Jews say. Muhammad Bin Salman has grabbed the power and is pushing the country towards of an engulfing crisis.”
He went on to stress that “I see no way to save myself but death. If live, they will force me to take part in the massacre of defenseless Yemeni people again.”
(FNA, 17/6/2015) ~ A Saudi soldier killed one of his comrades and wounded 4 others in a shooting rampage at a military base in Najran bordering area after expressing anger at his units’ indiscriminate pounding of residential areas on the Yemeni side of the border.
“When the police commanders of Najran bordering city were resting in al-Wadia military base at 10 pm last night, one of the military men fired gunshots at his comrades, killed one security force and injured four others,” Spokesman of Najran region police Abdullah al-Ashwi was quoted as saying by Yemenpress on Wednesday.
The army has arrested the attacker and transferred the injured to the hospital, he added.
Other members of the unit said the soldier was opposed to the Saudi military strikes against Yemen and intended stand against the aggression.
Many Saudi soldiers are either from Yemen’s bordering areas or of Yemeni descent.
The incident happened after the tribal leaders in Najran said they want to detach from Saudi Arabia and join the Yemenis in their war on Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Fouzi Akram, the leader of Yaam and Walad Abdullah tribes in Najran told FNA on Monday that the city’s tribes have immediate plans for separation from the Central government in Riyadh.
“The Saudi army fires mortar shells and missiles at Najran region and then blames the Houthis of Yemen for it,” he said, adding that a number of tribes in Southern Najran have already had meetings with the Yemeni army on how to fight back at the Saudi army.
Sheikh Akram underlined that the Yemeni tribes’ demands for independence were raised after the Saudi regime’s savage aggression against Yemen and the presence of the Saudi military men in Najran.
“All Yemeni tribes are threatened by Saudi Arabia and we are ready for martyrdom for Allah’s cause,” he added.
