Saudi Arabia is supplying israeli-made weapons to Takfiri/ISIS terrorists in Northern Syria via Turkey
TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi Arabia is supplying Israeli-made weapons to Takfiri terrorists in Northern Syria via Turkey, informed sources disclosed on Monday.
The foreign-backed terrorist commanders operating in Northern Syria have received state-of-the-art weapons from Saudi Arabia, the Palestine-based Arabic-language Al-Manar newspaper quoted western sources as saying.
The sources said that Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey have agreed on supplying the terrorists in Syria with different kinds of weapons.
Newly emerged footage suggested that trucks belonging to Turkey's intelligence agency smuggle weapons into Syria in an attempt to aid the Takfiri terror groups operating in the neighboring country.
The video which was posted by Turkish daily newspaper Cumhuriyet on Friday showed inspectors searching a metallic container watched by security officers, a prosecutor and sniffer dogs.
The daily reported the trucks were carrying a total of 1,000 mortar shells, 80,000 rounds of ammunition for light and heavy weapons as well as hundreds of grenade launchers.
The Turkish government has denied earlier claims that it is arming militants fighting in Syria and accused dozens of prosecutors, soldiers and security officers involved in the searching of trucks of attempting to bring it down by suggesting that it is doing so.
The incident triggered a huge controversy in Turkey with many bashing the government for explicitly supporting terrorism in neighboring Syria.
In April, the Syrian Army said that it had found a large amount of Turkish weapons and ammunitions in the Northeastern province of Hasaka.
The Syrian soldiers found the Turkish weapons and ammunitions in Gweiran neighborhood in the Southern part of Hasaka city.
In May, Head of the western-backed Syrian opposition group known as Dissidents Alliance, Khaled Khoja, disclosed that Saudi Arabia and Turkey have provided wide military backup for the Al-Nusra Front to help the terrorist group make advances in Idlib and Dara'a provinces.
"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his recent visit to Riyadh had discussed with Al Saud officials the Saudi and Turkish help to the Al-Nusra Front," Khoja said.
Also in May, the American defense officials said at least 400 US military trainers are ready in Turkey and Jordan to start training of over 3,000 anti-Syria militants this week to join fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
The United States will also provide the militants with weapons, trucks and tactical radios for their communication.
In April, Turkey arrested four prosecutors who ordered searches in a similar incident in January 2014 and they are now in prison pending trial.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sought to link the case to his top challenger, Fethullah Gülen, a US-based cleric.
Erdogan accuses Gülen of running a “parallel state” and says the interception of the Syria-bound consignment and the ensuing controversy were directly orchestrated by Gülen and his followers in the judiciary and police, a charge Gülen supporters have repeatedly dismissed.
