U.S. Navy publicly announces shipments of arms for terrorist gangs in Syria
The US government, through the website FBOs (Federal Business Opportunities), has published a list with the number and types of weapons of Eastern Europe and ammunition that Washington provides to Syrian rebel groups as part of a “program prevailing “, despite the ceasefire in Syria, reports Janes portal.
The FBO has issued two requests in recent months looking for transport companies. The first application, filed on Nov. 3, 2015, sought a contractor to carry 81 containers capable of carrying explosive material from Bulgaria to the Jordanian port of Aqaba, on behalf of the Maritime Command of the US Navy. The list of cargo included AK-47 rifles, machine guns PK, anti-aircraft heavy machine guns DShK, RPG-7 rocket launchers and anti-tank guided weapons 9K111M Faktoria.
A ship left with about a thousand tons of these weapons and ammunition from Constanta, Romania, on 5 December last year. Most of them were acquired in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. Then the ship made a stop at the port of Prince, Turkey islands, from then to Aqaba. Another boat with more than two thousand tons of arms and ammunition followed the same route in March this year to reach southern Jordan last April 4.
According to the portal, US delivered half the guns go to Jordan and the other half to Turkey, where US Navy has military bases. From there then they supplied to the armed terrorist gangs in Syria.
A still from a video released by the Syrian rebel group Jaish al-Izzah on 16 December 2015 shows one of its fighters preparing to fire an ATGW that could be either a 9K111 Fagot or a 9K111M Faktoria, the two being externally identical. Jaish al-Izzah also uses US-made TOW ATGWs. (Source Jaish al-Izzah)

Documents released by the US government’s Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website have provided an indication of the types and numbers of Eastern European weapons and ammunition the United States is providing to Syrian rebel groups as part of a programme that continues despite the widely respected ceasefire in that country.
The FBO has released two solicitations in recent months looking for shipping companies to transport explosive material from Eastern Europe to the Jordanian port of Aqaba on behalf of the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command.
Released on 3 November 2015, the first solicitation sought a contractor to ship 81 containers of cargo that included explosive material from Constanta in Bulgaria to Aqaba.
The solicitation was subsequently updated with a detailed packing list that showed the cargo had a total weight of 994 tonnes, a little under half of which was to be unloaded at Agalar, a military pier near the Turkish town of Tasucu, the other half at Aqaba.
The cargo listed in the document included AK-47 rifles, PKM general-purpose machine guns, DShK heavy machine guns, RPG-7 rocket launchers, and 9K111M Faktoria anti-tank guided weapon (ATGW) systems. The Faktoria is an improved version of the 9K111 Fagot ATGW, the primary difference being that its missile has a tandem warhead for defeating explosive reactive armour (ERA) fitted to some tanks.
Press TV has interviewed Gearóid Ó Colmáin, a political analyst, about the United States Navy leading the largest maritime exercises in the Middle East with 30 countries participating in the event.
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: First of all give us your thoughts on these military exercises. Why do you think they are being carried out?
Ó Colmáin: They are being carried out as part of military escalation by the United States in the region in general. We see US announces their redeployment of B-52 bombers for example to the Middle East also, so there is a major military escalation going on and I think the worry for the US is that they lost control of countries like Iraq. The Iraqis are far happier to cooperate with Russia and Iran in combating the Islamic State (Daesh) there and US media has admitted that over a third of Iraqi citizens believe the United States is behind them, backing Daesh Takfiri terrorists in their country and that the United States is trying to destabilize their country.
In this case the waterways of course are of extreme significance, strategic importance for the United States. Let’s not forget that one of the reasons why the United States is pursuing a proxy war against Yemen is to control the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait because this is a very, very important water, this is a very important access route for oil and it connects the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. So these are issues that the United States obviously has in mind here in this deployment.
Press TV: As we know the US Navy is leading the maneuvers, the commander of US Naval Forces Central Command has stated that these exercises have been designed to stop the terrorists from causing disruption to shipping in international waters. It is always comments like these that raise a lot of questions and are almost always doubted.
Ó Colmáin: Yes, the thing is that Daesh has been extremely useful to the United States in destabilizing Iraq and Syria …
Now the fact that the Russians have [routed] them from key strategic points in Syria is a major problem for the United States but they are also used as an excuse for intervention. So I think that is what we are seeing here again, Daesh and al-Qaeda being used as an excuse for US militarization of the region.

US deploys B-52 bombers to Qatar for ‘fight against ISIL’
(Guest: James Jatras, Fmr. US Senate Foreign Policy Analyst)
The US Air Force has deployed B-52 bombers to Qatar to join the campaign against the Daesh terrorist group.
The US Air Forces Central Command said it would not provide the exact number of bombers to be stationed in Qatar due to operational security reasons. It said the deployment is aimed at turning up the heat on Daesh and defending the region in any future contingency. However, Syrian and Iraqi officials have announced time and again that the airstrikes carried out by the so-called US-led coalition have been largely ineffective.
